Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Yes, yes, and YES!!!! I felt ahead of time that I wouldn't like it for precisely the reasons that I ended up not liking it! Does that make sense!??! I think I'm still exhausted from the race weekend... ... ;)
It does - you had realistic expectations.

In general I have tried to steer clear of inaugural runDisney events so that they can work the kinks out before I arrive (man, does that sound self-important! :teeth: you know what I mean!) so I'm hoping Wine & Dine won't be that bad since the courses at least start and end at the same spots as they have in past years...according to what they have on the website right now, anyway. We'll see!

I totally get what you mean! The Star Wars-ness of this race just reeled me in!! Otherwise, I would have waited as well. :)

anyone have speculations on what kind of course they are preparing ? I can't imagine them changing the 5k too much from previous wine and dine but since they changed the half date and the 10k is new. just seeing what people think.

I imagine the half will be similar to a reverse of the Star Wars course, since it starts at WWOS and ends at EP, but doesn't list DHS. DHS was a very small part of the SW haf, so they can easily have us do more time in WWOS to make that up.

With the 10K's location listed as simply "Epcot," I'm thinking the usual WDW 10K route: EP parking lot, EP, World Showcase, Boardwalk, back into EP.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

:rotfl2:

I think it'll be a big change from the Wine & Dine course used in the past...that one had a lot of DHS, and we went down Streets of America (which obviously is not there anymore)...I'll be curious to see what they do.

I'm still holding out hope they will eventually bring back the Tower of Terror 10 Miler. That was another night time start, but I'm not sure if they'll bring it back after the DHS construction is complete.

It's possible. A CM informed us the ToT was pulled because of construction.

Question regarding ADR time for after the race. Hoping maybe some of you that have run other RD morning races can help me with this. We are staying at AKL, prior to the change in the race my plan was to get a late ADR at Boma for breakfast Sunday morning after sleeping in some. Now with the change to a Sunday morning race I am wondering what time I could expect to get back to AKL and if I could possibly still make a Boma ADR. The website shows breakfast at Boma is until 11:00 am. For those that have eaten there later morning, should I be concerned fresh food will not be brought out the closer it is to 11:00? There are 4 of us running and we have submitted POT for < 2:30. We plan to have a resort day at AKL on Sunday until the after-party so I thought a nice breakfast buffet would be a great way to start. TIA

Following for the reply on this....
We wanted to try to get to Boma after hitting the Expo on Friday morning too and not sure if we can make the last reservation....

BOMA is my favorite breakfast especially post race. I had an 8:55am this past Saturday after the 10k. I had time to head back to the Dolphin on the bus, shower, change and check out of hotel (resort change) and drive to Boma with time to spare. You will not have a problem making it to a late reservation and the food is not skimped because it is later. There is no lunch service, so no rush.

Thank you Fruto76! This will be my 2nd stay at AKL but I have not eaten at BOMA but I know it always smells so good! Maybe I will aim for 10:00 or 10:30 reservation to give us plenty of time.

We are staying at AKL for this race weekend too :) I ran the WDW Half in January and we had a 9:45am reservation at Boma. I was in Corral F and finished right around 8 am. We had a little time to walk around before we got on the bus to AKL. Factor in the time it will take you to walk from the family reunion area to the buses at Epcot which are on the FAR end of the bus stops due to the race path going through the bus area. I'm betting we're probably doing that this time as well on Sunday after the half. We haven't stayed at AKL before and have always wanted to eat at Boma when we're actually staying there instead of always leaving right after. It's usually our breakfast the morning we leave.

Do you know what time the Expos generally open on Friday of race weekends?

Question on proof of time for the half. From what I've found from some online searching, it looks like if you use a 10K time, you need to add 30 seconds per mile to get your estimated pace for the half. Does that sound right?

I use Macmillian calculator...from what I understand it is pretty close to Disney

After Princess we had a noon lunch reservation at Akershus. We had plenty of time to go back to Riverside, shower, relax and get to Epcot for our reservation. Although we were a couple of minutes late when I was selected to go through the metal detector. Because women with lots of medals are very suspicious! ;) I think you'd be ok for the reservation. Worst case scenario you could go straight there when you get back to AKL.
