Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

This is my (and my friend's) first race with runDisney, and we're trying to decide what memorable souvies to purchase. Does anyone have any photos of what the pins sets might look like from a previous race?

I noticed the shirts this morning also. Are these different that the shirts we get a bib pickup?
Yes, the In Training Shirts you can purchase now are different than what you get included for the race at bib pick up.

I do not but the best place to look is Google or eBay! I always Google the race from the previous year to have an "idea" of what merchandise typically looks like.

We're both running and have 'tickets' .... My initial thought is you're spot on! Use the bonus $80 to eat elsewhere and play!

Alternatively, make friends and acquire their 'after party' wristband .... Especially for those many folks who are flying back Sunday afternoon .... Disney isn't losing money ....

And let's be realistic, only half to 3/4 of the runners will attend the after party anyway.

Brian

BRILLANT!!! There is probably a ton of runners not using their tickets and no need for them to go to waste.
I'm with you. We were going to buy everyone in our party (6) tickets to attend after, when we thought it was a night race and the party was that night / morning. But now, it's kinda like a normal park day

You figure, regular guest will be allowed to stay, what, til 9. I figure if we're in Epcot during the day, that will be enough and if we go to another park, maybe when everyone else is tired and go back to the rooms at 10 or 11, then my and
the wife can hit up the after party!

Do they have the pins at the Expo? My DS13 would like one for the 5K. Should we pre-order? And if so do, where do we pick it up when we get there?

Yes, they have some at the Expo. Some sell out quicker than others. I would preorder what you think you may def want. You pick it up at the pre-order merchandise booth at the expo. (Cast Members will point you where to go!) I say preorder because if you decide you don't like something you can always return it at the Expo!

Has anyone posted pics of the past Wine & Dine pre-order jackets?? I'm on the fence with ordering that one.....

I am running the 5k - my first Disney race - with my fiancé and so excited! I'm considering buying the green "I'm training for" drywick shirt for us both. Has anyone bought these in the past? How is the quality and size? Do they run true to size or large? Are the shirts you get with registration just regular t shirts? I want to make sure we are fully outfitted :) Thanks!

Same with me - I am not sure on sizing either, but really want one since I am hopeful it will be creative with the inaugural challenge/10K

Don't know on in training shirts, but the 5k registration shirt you get is a cotton unisex tshirt, so yes a regular tshirt. The other races are tech men or women cut long sleeve shirts.

I've gotten jackets for a couple of races, and always size up. I normally wear a woman's small/medium -- medium for wide shoulders! :-/ For these Champion jackets I get a women's large and feel like it fits perfectly. This all assumes they stick with the basic sizing.

Whatever size you wear, buy the next size up! I'm a dead on women's medium but with Champion (and some New Balance) I have to get a size Large. There were loads of runners at the Princess Half expo exchanging their shirts! They definitely run very snug.

As for the quality, the drywick ones are awesome. They are high quality running shirts.

For the 5K you will get a regular cotton Hanes unisex t shirt. In that one, I ordered a medium!

Congrats on registering for your first Disney race! They sure are a great time!

Hmmm - I am 5'1" and usually wear a size 6/small adult/XL kids for shirts. May need to size up to medium. Hopefully I can try some champion gear on at DicksSG to get an idea.

While on the topic of shirts, does anyone else wish the participant t-shirts were short-sleeved instead of long? I'll love them either way (I love my shirt from last year, even though it's a bit difficult to wear with the course shortening), but I think I'd get more use out of short-sleeved. I guess I'm a little unsure of why the Princess shirts in February are short sleeved, while Wine and Dine in November is long. Seems like the weather for the two times of year are about the same (if not warmer on average in November). Not a big deal, but just a personal preference.

And on another note, I know it will be a while, but I am super excited to see what the medals will look like this year, especially for the 10K and Challenge (I'm thinking the half will be similar to last year's). Perhaps we'll get some kind of idea when the training plans are posted.

I have 1 long sleeve tech shirt I got on clearance that I've worn once when it was raining and I needed more warmth under my rain coat. The other times I've ran in the rain it was colder and I had a fleece or another jacket under my rain coat. Should have worn the long sleeve today instead of the jacket, but now I know for 2 weeks for the 12k that I'll be happier in the long sleeve and my annoying running belt than the jacket, which didn't stay put and bounced too much with the normal stuff in my pockets.

I would prefer a short sleeve, it would get worn more. Especially if I don't end up doing a Dec. or spring race again I won't need to train in the winter. It is weird being in Florida that they would do long sleeve. But there's a fantastic alterations place in the mall near me so maybe I'll have her shorten the sleeves :) Worth the less than $20 that it would probably be to have a shirt I will wear more than a handful of times a year.
