Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

We have never used the wii friend portion, so today DS2 forwards me an email he received saying an owner of a wii console is asking permission to register as wii friend to exchange email or something like that. How do we find out who the owner is? If we do this what does it do? I don't even know how they got his email unless it's someone he already knows (hopefully that is the case).

I open up my email this morning to the Club Nintendo Prizes.:thumbsup2 Now these prizes are for the people that registered their Nintendo products on Nintendos website and took the surveys to earn coins.:thumbsup2 There are 2 levels to the prizes Gold and Platinum. Gold members are receiving an exclusive Nintendo calendar. Then the Platinum members had their choice between 2 different prizes. I am starting with the second prize on the page. It is an official Mario hat. Looks just like the hat on our favorite plumbers head. The first prize on the page was extremely cool (in my opinion). It was an exclusive level to the new Punch Out game:worship:. You get to fight your trainer Doc Louis. The nice thing about this game is that you don't need to own Punch Out to fight Doc or to make this work, but the negative is that your Wii needs to be hooked up online to download the game. Neither one are available right now and it looks like Nintendo is saying you will receive your goods by November 1st. So get on your Club Nintendo account and choose your prize.

Can't Decide which one I'm going for..probably The Doc Punch Out game..but The DW may want the hat more.

Just purchased Disney Dance Dance Revolution off of Ebay for a great price for my DD bday. I'm so excited but I have to wait to play it until the end of Aug. when I can give it to her. I'm tempted to try it out some night after she's asleep!!!:rotfl:

Just in case anyone wants to know...I'm being induced on Wednesday, so THK and I might be scarce for a while. The thread hasn't been very active lately, so I'm sure it won't be a big deal, but I just wanted to give you all a heads up!

Congrats to both of you a little early... :yay::banana::yay: Start cathing up on sleep now, I have never been so sleep deprived as I was with a newborn but it's all worth it.:surfweb:

Anyone know how to find out who a friend request on the wii is from?

You would have had to give someone your Wii address. If I am not mistaken you can send them a message to ask when they request you, but I am not 100% certain about that.

Hello. DW and I finally got a Wii last week primarily so she could use Wii Fit. I've read or scanned all 216 pages in the last week. :scared1: Sarah, Justin, and all the other contributors. Great job on this thread. :thumbsup2

DW and I are 50ish and extremely casual gamers. We go in spurts. We had a 360 for a bit but we didn't use the online that much and the more involved games like GOW and COD were just too much for us. DW liked the arcade the most and I liked NASCAR and Tiger Woods. The 360 is now in my nephews hands. We also each had a DSlite but mine is now my grandsons and DW's hasn't seen light in a few months.

Hopefully the Wii is different for us. We are both creatures of habit and the Wii seems more fit to us. One thing about late to the party with the Wii is we don't share all the battle scars of trying to get one over the last few years. ;)

We pretty much have followed the advice in this thread and started with the console (WiiSports), Wii Fit, and Wii Play (2nd wiimote). Besides WiiFit, the bowling in WiiSports is getting the most play. It's addicting. :goodvibes

I ordered the component cables to be able to the set the display to 480P from Monoprice.com . I'd rather spend $4 on a cable than $25+. ::yes:: I also got a couple of those assy sets with the wheel, golf club, etc. Cheap. not need but DW was interested.

I was really excited (still am) about Toy Story Mania but am disappointed it will not utilize wi-fi for multiplayer. We'll definately still get it though. Is this something they can add at a later time?

This topic seems to have gotten real quiet lately. Has conversation moved to other Wii topics on the DISboards? Where are the active topics? Lead and I will follow. :)

Sarah and Justin. Congratulations to you both! :)

I saw Toy Story Mania for pre-order at Target today. Spend $1 now and after you buy the game on release day, you get a $5 Target gift card. With school starting and summer still in full swing here, we just haven't had the tv or Wii on much lately. I'm sure that'll change once the weather cools and it gets closer to Christmas.

Sarah and Justin. Congratulations to you both! :)

I haven't had a chance to be on in a while. Congrats on your purchase the Wii life is a fun life. Wow for someone who just got a Wii throwing arounf Wi-Fi for multiplayer is a very big thing. It is most likely a good thing it won't have it. 3rd party games online function have been seeing lag times that make the game almost umplayable online. Have fun playing.

Here is my Wii Sports Resort Review.

To start off the game is attractively priced at $49.99 it includes the game and also 1 Wii motion plus accesory. Now you can purchase a second Wii motion plus for $19.99. This brings the cost of the game up to $70.00. The only reason that I am suggesting this is that this game is really fun, but even more fun with more than one person and to play some of the games multiplayer you need at least 2 Wii Remotes. The Wii Motion plus is an all or nothing thing also. If you are using one remote that has motion plus you have to have all remotes that you are using has to have them also.

Now on to the game. This game has all 12 sports unlocked right off the bat. Which is great thing, no fumbling around to unlock a sport you want to play. In each sport there are multiple levels that are unlockable, but all you have to do is play the sport above it through once and it unlocks the next version.

Swordplay,Frisbee,Archery,Basketball are the four new games that are worth the price of this game. They all incorporate the Motion Plus to the fullest extent and make the replay ability awesome.

Bowling, Golf, Table Tennis, Power Cruising are the next batch of games the first three are just like the old versions but just enhanced by motion plus, and when I am including table tennis it is comparable to Tennis on Wii Sports, not Table Tennis on WiiPlay. Power Cruising is a new game that begs the question is Nintendo going to release a new Wave Race game? These are all fun games, but you have played them all before.

Wakeboarding, Cycling, Canoeing, Air Sports. These game are a take a look and see what you think games. They are all interesting, but don't pose a great deal of interest to me. They may fit someone out there, but I played them all and now have moved on with them.

All in all Wii Sports Resort is a must for every Wii owners library. You will have endless fun with this game and it might even not put anything else in the game slot for a while. The only thing missing from this game is that you cannot play people online with this, but Nintendo is all about making sure you have friends over to play, not playing with friends over the interenet. I am not taking the online into account and I am rating this game my highest rating.

Perfect Score Go Out and Buy this game!!! You won't be angry you did.

Thanks for the review Justin!!

Sarah and Justin. Congratulations to you both! :)

I think the thread is quiet for a few reasons, but I'm not aware of anything else taking our place.

I don't think it would be at all likely to add wi-fi for TSM.

Reading through your post--you NEED to get yourself the new Tiger Woods with Motion Plus--It's AWESOME!!

Thanks for the congrats! My little Lily is awesome!

Thanks, Justin. The kids want me to go get it but I was waiting to hear something first.

Thanks for the great review of Wii Sports Resort!! Dd has been interested in the Archery. Is it very difficult??

Thanks for the great review of Wii Sports Resort!! Dd has been interested in the Archery. Is it very difficult??

None of the games are really difficult to start, but the point of the game is to become a Pro in the sport, just like Wii Sports, so they get more difficult the closer you get to becoming a Pro. My girls love all the games even the ones that I don't play. Enjoy the game.

I just read that if you sign up for a 1 year subscription to Sports Illustrated the free gift right now is a copy of Madden 2010 on any system. So if you don't get Sports Illustrated and want to get Madden you can get both of them when you sign up.

I have preordered TSM (Toy Story Mania) from Amazon but I am wondering if there are any reviews out on this game. Has anyone said if it will actually be fun? :) We all loved the ride at Disney so I really want the game but hate to spend $39.99 if it is supposed to bomb.

Since the game doesn't come out until September 15th you won't see a review unitl about 1 week before the game comes out. This isn't going to be a first time buy for me. I loved the ride and this game seems like it will work well with the Wii, but I am pretty sure someone will buy it and trade it in right away. So this will be a used purchase for me.

UPDATE!!! You can go onto Youtube and see some gameplay in action. Looks like it is just like the ride!

Important recall
