All Right....let me see if I can answer all the questions....
Maybe I just need to buy DS new games. I asked him about SSX and he said he didn't want it. My other son does though, this one just likes the sports. We already have Madden 07 for GC so we'll wait for the 08 to buy it for the Wii but they told me that it ruins your tv. Someone told them they played madden 07 on the wii and it broke their tv?
Whoever told them that has NO CLUE what they are talking about! About the only way to wreck your tv with madden wii is to throw your wiimote though the tv!
Madden 07 on Wii is a blast! Far better of a football game then any I have played in years, and I have owned every madden since about '95 (before that I bought it every other year-rotated with a friend of mine.) While it is true the graphics aren't as good as the 360's I can tell you the play control is 10x's better. I'll trade graphics for play anyday.
SSX is a incredible, fun game, but if you have read my past posts you will know that It has a high learning curve! It took me 2+hours with it before I really got the hang of it and can pull off the uber tricks. This game is NOT for young kids they will get mad at it really quick.
I thought that I heard/read that Sony said they'd support thier systems for a min. of 10 years. How long has PS2 been out?
It's been 6 1/2 years...launched in '00. Sony said they would like to support the PS3 10 years. The ps2 is dead. The last big title just released for it (god of war II)
If you feel you must get one buy it used, and buy the old games, but you will probably be unhappy to have spent the money on it at this time next year.
I don't see that NCAA football or March Madness are being released for PS3 but they are for PS2? I think I read where they are releasing the games for PS2 because the PS3 wasn't selling well and there are sooo many people who own the PS2
NCAA football is releasing for the 360, original x-box, ps2, ps3. Honestly I have a friend that swears by the ncaa games, but they are nothing more then madden wanna be's. (play exactly the same just swap pro teams with college teams)
March Maddness ONLY released on 360 and ps2 this year. No word on what it will release for next year.
I guess the big thing is that if your son will only play sports games you might as well buy the 360. Nintendo has never been a huge sport system. (How old is your ds btw?)
Sadly we won't no about many of the 08 sport releases yet. Best guess NBA, football, fifa, tigger woods, MLB will be on their way. NCAA(football/basketball), NHL probably are also, but I can't confirm it at this time.
If he needs sports gaems to play right now check out Tigger Woods Golf, in June BLITZ the League releases also.
All that said, my theory is that you should buy no more then one game a month. Just my personal theory, but this way you actually have time to play the games you buy. I have a friend that buys almost a game a week!
When I was a kid I was lucky to get a game every 3 months! I'd tell him learn to live with it. That's the problem with kids today no attention spans! (sorry for the rant it was a long day at work)
But Are you seriously considering buying a $200-$400 purchase just so your son can play NCAA football???
I bought Cooking Mama for my DH and it's actually a really fun game. Alot of movement is required with the remote and its really interactive. A pretty simplified review of the game, but it would be worth a least a rental.
I have heard from everyone that has played this game that they have enjoyed it both for the wii and the ds.
DS11 currently has Marble Mania for the Wii on rental. He likes it a lot! It's kind of reminiscent of monkey ball but different. You can turn the mazes on their sides and turn them over with the wiimote...you actually have to turn them sideways and things in order to complete the mazes. It's really got him hooked at the moment and I had fun watching him play it.
I see how it is Monkeyball like. The game however actually reminds me of Marble Maddness for the original NES way back in the day.
glad he's having fun!
