Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

is wii ski worth getting if you don't have a wii fit?

I don't suggest getting We Ski even IF you have the balance board. I lean towards Shaun White Snowboarding if you have the balance board. If you don't have a BB I would go to SSX for the Wii. It came out almost 2 years ago so you could get it cheap.

I have Wii Ski. I only used it without the balance board, even though I have one. It's not that great a game. I liked the ski part of my Wii Fit more. The only positive is it does make you move like real skiing, so you get a workout and you can make your own character (that's not a Mii.)

Overall, not recommended.

Thanks for the SW: Forced Unleashed review. I too have an 11 yo and he's asked for this too. He's pretty good with all games but doesn't like the sports ones too much. It sounds like he'll like this one.

I bought wii ski but returned it unopened after reading the reviews.

Thanks for the info on the SD cards. I have a couple of old cards for my camera so I can spare one of those for now and wait for a good sale price on a 2G.

I'm not sure how much my kids will d/l songs as they haven't even played all the songs available on GH3 yet so add the new ones for GHWT and they'll have plenty to keep themselves busy for quite some time! I just need to find a GHWT now which I'm hoping my local warehouse club will have avail on Sun.

I noticed the review for DDR on the first page. However, I noticed there is a newer version out (DDR-Hottest Party 2). Does anyone have information regarding this? Are the songs any good, etc? Thanks in advance!

I second Justins statement to go with shawn white snowboarding(if u have the balance board) or ssx if you don't.

I have SSX and it has some amazing controls!

We have the original DDR and DD16 still loves it a year later! That's a fabulous thumbs up in my book! Anyway, I didn't know there was a new one out....can I buy just the disc without the dance pad? Any reviews on this one? I'll have to go look into this now.

It is that time of year again and I have a question. I have already found Wii Fit and Guitar Hero World Tour. Now my son is asking for Wii Music. He is in high school (10th grade) marching band. He love jazz band, concert band and choir. I have not read such good threads about this but nothing official. I have only read that people think their child might get bored quickly.

Any advise? Should I waste my $$?

I don't have the game, but the review on ign.com is really bad. The problem is that for the most part you apparently only control the tempo of the music but not the actual notes that play. The review said that the only parts that are at all good are similar to a couple of parts of Guitar Hero: World Tour, but not done as well. Doesn't sound too promising, but I don't know anyone who actually has it so I haven't heard any reviews from "real" people.

Quick Question...I have a brand new unopened Guitar Hero III game for Wii(no guitar, just the game). Can I trade it in at Game Stop? Or should I trade it on the Disboards or sell it on ebay or craigslist? My husband was thinking no one would want it because it did not have the guitars, but I figured if someone purchased a different Guitar Hero and already had the guitars they might want to just purchase the game, what do you think??:confused3

If your copy of GH III is brand new and unopened you should be able to return it where you bought it for a refund or at the very least a store credit.

If you were to buy the new GHWT (Guitar Hero World Tour) with band kit (drum, guitar, mic), you would then be able to play all the songs on that game disc as well as the songs on the GH III game disc.

GH III was the first avail Guitar Hero for the Wii, and you can buy the guitar separately as an accessory if that is the problem or perhaps return it where you bought it for the GHIII w/guitar bundle.

Exactly why do you want to return/trade it in?

hi
Can you use the shaun white games without wii fit? My son's birthday is in november and was going to get it for him and then get him the wii fit for christmas. just don't want to give him the snowboarding if he won't be able to use it until christmas, I will just wait and give both at the same time and think of something else to give him.
thanks

HUGE HUGE HUGE NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONFIRMED::::: GHIII GUITARS WORK WITH ROCKBAND2!!!:::::CONFIRMED

http://wii.ign.com/articles/919/919793p1.html

Hope this helps you guys out ((Since so many of you have been asking about GHIV vs RB2))

THK

Somehow I missed this seeing this the other day. So the Wii guitars will work with the Wii RockBand2 game? Is that right? And then that would mean that the drum and mic and new guitar for GHWT might also work with RB2?

The rest of the info you posted was way confusing and too much info all at once for someone who hasn't even played a note on any GH or RB, well maybe I have played one note before it was grabbed outta my hands. Maybe with the band kit there will be something for me to play (notice I said play and not sing, I don't want to do that).:scared1:

I bought 2 GH III's when they came out so I could have 2 guitars. So I ended up with an extra game. I figured if someone did not buy GH III and only bought GH Aerosmith or GH World Tour they may want just the GH III game since they will already have the guitar. Does that sound right to you?? My husband seems to think I have it wrong, but it seems to make sense to me!??? I have it listed on the trade board for trade...

HELP :confused3 -- I am a Mom who can't play games, but after various family and friends continually talk about the Wii I went & got it as a family gift from Santa.

Our background:
Our family of 5 who owns PS3 & GC. GC still gets a good amount of play.
DH loves Resident Evil
DSs share the gaming systems which are kept in their bedroom-- We have a wide array, including GH & Rock Band, the new Star Wars (PS3).

DD (7) & I are complete gaming novices & really stink.

What I bought so far:
Wii
WiiFit w/ balance Board
Carnival
WiiPlay
Steering Wheel (this was given to me by a co-worker NIB)

I know I need:
Charger

What do I need for a fun Christmas? I want this as a "fun exercise" so I am looking for "physical" games. I want to avoid games that the graphics are better on PS3 -- War games, Star Wars, etc.

Boom Blox and Shaun White have been recommended to me.

Any other really physical game recommendations?

Would we need more controllers?

DS 12 (soon to be 13) is NOT going to be excited about the Wii -- Is there anything that would really WOW him that isn't available or good on PS3?

And what can I do with that free steering wheel -- any cheap (under $50) games I can use it with?

It comes with the game!!:thumbsup2

Well, I'll be.............. I guess I ordered to much of the Guitar Hero World Tour items. I ordered first the game with the guitar, the band kit and the game:scared1: ...... Looks like I will be returning a couple of items. :rolleyes1
