Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Ok does the game need the remotes to calibrate? or are the remotes not registering on the Wii and not working? I will give you answers to both problems.

Thanks for the help, but after I posted, we searched a lot of gaming sites where this problem was discussed. We tried a number of them, but the one that worked for us is below:

You need to open up the calibration and start the test. You won't be able to see where you are aiming, so to fix this, you have to use the "Home" button to guide the shots.
Assess where you need to aim and then pause the game using the Home button.
Position the cursor over the assessed target area and hit the Home button to return to the game.
Without moving the controller, hit the fire button. Another target will then appear. Do the same for that target to complete the test.
After completing this calibration, the aiming will work perfectly! (You have to do this for both HotD2 & HotD3.)

We had to do this once or twice to start for each remote, and everytime we restart the game, but it does work. It was the only thing we tried that did.

Glad to hear that it works for you. I never had that problem and when I got home last night and put the game in it worked just fine. happy that it is fixed and have fun gaming.

Well we are finally back form Disneyworld...
Don't have time to chat right now, but I'll be back with some new game info asap.

Thanks for covering for us Justin and for the Madden review!!

Also, just to give everyone a heads up. I should be able to give a full review of Super Mario Sluggers at some point in time tomorrow. I just picked the game up at Target and my wife doesn't get out of work until 9 pm tonight. So I should get some good playing time in.

The TV the Wii is hooked up to is the main TV in the house. My wife claims the TV when she is home because with her work schedule she never gets to watch any of the shows she wants to. So unless I move the Wii (which is not an option) or she isn't home, I don't get to play as much as I would like.

I understand. All of our systems are on the awesome big screen TV except for my Gamecube, which I haven't touched in forever. It's on the little old TV in the basement. Sometimes I think we should just buy 2 of everything so that everyone is happy...but then we'd never see each other!! (And who could afford that anyway?!) :thumbsup2

I only have the Wii and the DS, my wife told me I had to pick one system that is all she would suppor. It is on the big screen at our house too, and once the basement gets finished it'll moved down there since I am going with an even bigger TV down there. But until then I will make do.

This is my review for Super Mario Sluggers

For controls the game is getting a 7 out of 10
This game can use the Wii remote alone or with the Nunchuck. Wii remote alone I didn't even try. There are times were you pitch and you didn't mean to and it happens also with swinging. Other than this the controls are spot on. I would be very concerned if my 6 year old tried to play this game though, as I found the controls to be easy for me the younger crowd my find it difficult.

Gamplay is getting a 8 out 10
There is an in depth story, a bunch of mini games, pick up and play mode and a practice mode to make sure you know how to work the game. I really think that this game excells in the story mode. There are a couple times that I found it to very challanging, but this is going to be a short story mode.

Sound and Visuals a 9 out of 10
I love the visuals of this game then again I love the visuals of all Mario games. The sound is what brings this down, in the story mode there is a lot of reading, I don't know why nintendo always does this with games. They just need voice actors for the game and have them talk it out. If your child isn't great at reading then the story mode is not for them

Replay value a 9 out 10
I could find myself playing this game many times in the next 2 years with no problems, there are lots of unlockables in the game actually up to 40 characters.

This game gets a total 8 out 10 for me. It could've been higher if the game had online capabilities, but an 8 is still a respectful number. I suggest this game to anyone over the age of 8.

Thrillville off the rails?

Anybody got an opinion on that one? Found a pretty good deal on it but not worthwhile if it's not any good. I'd love to hear all about it!
IGN gives it a 7pointsomething....but I'd like to hear from you guys!

Thanks!

Wish I could help on that one..but I've never played it.

I know the Thrillville games have been around since the ps2 days...people who like Roller Coaster Tycoon seemed to have liked it back in the day....Hopefully someone else can give you hands on info.

I posted on the Community Board too but this looks like a ton of information so I might get a better response here :). We got a Wii finally and I'm trying to hook it up through our wireless router. It's a WRT54G linksys and I have tried everything possible troubleshooting wise I think. I really want to try out the virtual console games and Nintendo's customer service is closed. HELP anyone???!!!

Sorry we missed you yesterday. Nintendo.com has tons of information, but I would call Nintendo since they're open now.

Routers are the worst.

my almost 8 YO loves this game. Quote from her: "Thrillville is the most exciting thing that I've ever played on the wii. YOu get the nunchuck and the wiimote and using the joystick on the nunchuck you can move your choice of character anywhere in Thrillville. There are a lot of parks to choose from. My favorite is Thrillville Giant. It is so fun. I wish is were a real theme park. It actually helps you with handwriting because of how you use the joysticks, it gives you exercise so you can write better. You can ride as many rides as you want, and you can play games to earn Thrill points to use to buy new rides, food stands and other attractions. You can also use ThrillPoints by using the chat menu and you can talk to a friend that is in the game.

"There are a bunch of different things in Thrillville. It is very fun! It is my favorite game in wii history because I love the way they designed the characters to look so realistic."

My 2 cents is that I like how it encourages logical and creative thinking. YOu can build great rides, but if it is too rough, no one will ride it. You have to remember to have enough food stands and bathrooms in logical places. I , personally, have not played it, but I have watched her play.

HTH!

I'm going to try Nintendo customer service tonight but I'm curious if anyone has tried using the LAN Adaptor and just hard wiring to router? Is that an option if I can't get it going the other way? I just dread the CS call of it must be your router and you call the router CS and it must be the Wii... I can see it already .

nintendo customer service is actually really, really good! They're not gonna try to "pass the buck" they'll try to help you figure it out and get it working.

Thanks! That is great news - my DH is desperate to check out the virtual console - I hope it lives up to the hype after all of this work :)
I am so happy to hear that they don't pass the buck as you can probably tell by my pessimism I've been down that road one too many times!
