There is hope for me yet!! I haven't said anything about the race in a few weeks, especially since he hurt his ankle at the 5K, but......

DH was shopping the new balance site last night looking for a high mileage road shoe. Woohoo!!
There is a new one coming out in June but I think it's only a 10Ker. But it weighs something like 3 ounces. I told him that was nuts but so cool!

Hopefully I will have an answer soon!

OMG I will have hubby try today to book the Little Mermaid Room! That would be so great, I want to start putting money aside soon, and I would like to know just how much!
Does anyone know if you can still buy park tickets at the Disney Store? I haven't checked yet, and want to buy them one at a time, if possible. Less scary that way, lol

Yes, you can. I just bought Annual Pass vouchers for me and my husband over the weekend at our local Disney Store...gotta take advantage of that 5% reward promotion on our new Disney Visa while we can. :thumbsup2

Hooray! Booked our Little Mermaid room in the Art of Animation hotel! SOOOOO excited!

Now, I have to worry about Dining Packages, transpo to and from the airport, and the airline, which I cannot book til next week anyway! 8 months is waaaayyyyyy too long :cloud9:

I think I've picked the Poly. And I think I found a roommate. Both are good things! :lmao:
Has anyone done the race retreat? Opinions? It seems costly but I figure if I'm leaving my DH and 3 kids at home then I'm saving TONS of money! :rotfl2:

Amanda

I haven’t done the race retreat, but wish I would have this past year. It was COLD Sunday morning. I guess if I do decide to buy it in 2013, it’ll be hot as the sun by 4am.

I'm just dropping in to say that I've registered for the full. It will be my first marathon. I'll try to read through this thread over the next week or so, then I'm going to have a LOT of questions for you veterans. ::yes::

Online shopping is certainly a good indication of intent to do something. I know that's what I do all the time...

I've taken Jet Blue out of Newark. I can't stand Terminal A, but that extra leg room combined with free tv and a snack is amazing, I'm just hoping they have a fare under $300 to Florida. They've been ridiculously expensive lately, but there's always US Air out of Philly which has been slightly to substantially cheaper.

I think you can book the Little Mermaid rooms now. I booked one for October a few weeks ago so maybe they're up to January?

I know what you mean. Terminal C is much nicer but Continental/United charging for bags kills us with a family of 6. I have yet to travel with all of us with less than 3 checked bags. Really Newark airport is a dump compared to everyother airport I've ever been too. Does US Air fly direct from Philly to Orlando? It always seems like they stop in Charlotte.

I guess I really need to bite the bullet and sign up and book my room. I think I have enough DVC points to do either Old Key West or Saratoga Springs. Kim, what day do plan to fly down? If we get the same flights maybe we can share transpo to the airport.

I'm seriously hoping charging for carry ons doesn't catch on--I'll never be able to afford to fly anywhere.
They have a direct one in June that was under $200 from PHL to MCO, we always fly from Newark since my sister comes from the city so it's easier for her to use NJ transit. I've only taken US Air in and out of Minneapolis/St. Paul (now there's a great airport) direct to Philly, but with prices on Jet Blue being so high I'm seriously considering them for the Orlando trips.

We are flying in on Thursday night and flying home on Monday night. I am hoping to be able to work all day on Thursday, which means the flight will have to depart after around 6. Would love to share transpo if we are leaving the same day!!

Ariel, was the 5% reward promotion just for new cardholders? I have this visa and was planning to get APs at AAA in FL but 5% rewards sure beats a few bucks off from AAA.

If you're new to the card, be sure to take advantage of the free character meet and greet at Epcot exclusively for cardholders.

I was talking about the 5% for upgrading from the regular Disney Visa to the premier version...sorry, should have been more clear. :headache:

We've had the card but have never taken advantage of the free character meet! I always mean to do it and then we run out of time...some day we'll get it done! (I hope!) :rolleyes1

Question for anyone that has done the 5K: How early did you catch the bus from your resort to get to the starting area? I'm thinking about signing up for the 5K but have never done one at Disney, and my routine for the half/full is to get on the bus by 3:30AM at the latest. I know the 5K buses don't start running until 4:30AM, so I might just hop on as close to 4:30 as possible. I'm not sure if this is necessary, but I'm an OCD planner and I guess it wouldn't hurt to be early. :confused3

I took the plunge today and registered for the 2013 Full Marathon. I've done a half before (non-Disney), but this will be my first full and my first Disney race! I'm so excited!

In 2010, DW and I did the 5K. Caught the first bus at WL because of nervousness. 2011 we caught later bus since we were more relaxed.

Thanks...I'm sure I'll err on the side of caution and be on one of the first buses...on the other hand, I'd love to sleep later if I could! :scared1: Just curious to see what others think. :)
