A&M used to have a ramp romp in and around Kyle Field. I think they still have it, but not well advertised nor executed. It's a 5 k that loops up and down the 3 decks of the stadium.
And then there's this one at Reliant Stadium that was planned but never took place. Running that many loops up and down a stadium sure doesn't sound like fun.

I saw a post on the RunDisney FB page this morning that ask runners to let the Volunteers know how much they were appreciated. For those that have run any race, but especially the marathon, you know how important the Volunteers are. While we are lamenting the fact we have to get up early to catch the bus to the starting area, the volunteers are out already out and getting the course ready for us. We are accustomed to seeing videos of the runners during the race. Several months ago I suggested that RunDisney do a video featuring the volunteers and and the work they do. Please take a minute and send an email to RunDisney encouraging them to do this.
Haven't been on in while..had my first 11-miler yesterday, plus a mile cool down. Forgot how tough that loop can be, with the the bridges along Clearwater Beach (ended up walking up the last 2).
Had a weird thing happen. Anyone else experience this after a long run? I had soreness in my left ear, including the earlobe of all places and back of my neck, all along that left side. Any ideas? Just wondering

It's not real cold so we can rule out a cold weather issue. Were you wearing sunglasses or a head phone? These could create a pressure point. Did you notice a lot of upper body tightness, especially on the overpasses? If yes to any of these, try some deep calming breaths every so often while on the run. Every little while roll and stretch the arms out to release any pent up tension. And Smile. That is a simple and effective way to release muscle tension in and around the head.
Better yet, I volunteer for 2-4 events a year locally. It's kind of a pay it forward activity.
I am still working on getting to that 10:30!

I have no idea what possessed me, but I decided to take the plunge and sign up for the half-marathon. I haven't run in over 15 years, and with a bunch of extra weight hanging off of me, this will certainly be a challenge for me. If anything, I have a goal in mind, and I can't wait to cross that finish line!
On a more somber note, I see that getting a room as a DVC member this late in the game is a losing bet. Any chance cancellations pop up and we can squeak in?! I sure hope so!

Had to share this because I thought it was hysterical. I was reading a blog about the DL 1/2 and here's what the writer overheard at the expo, "I learned my lesson at the Princess. Dont wear Crocs to run a half marathon.".
OMG! I can't believe someone ran a whole 1/2 in Crocs! I know they're comfy but that is too funny!

The GIANTS did theirs at the end of June. Totally bummed that i missed it, but I did a 5K in Yankee Stadium, which was very cool!
