Official Tinker Bell Half Marathon Check-In ** May 5-8, 2016 ** 5th Anniversary

Just wanted to say Hi, My husband and I are coming out from Florida to run the Tinker Bell Half, we are super excited this will be our first half!!!!

:wave2:Hi and welcome :wave2:!!! It's a really fun race to do !!! It's a great choice to do as your first 1/2.

Does anyone have suggestions on where to stay? We kind of want to stay on property because I'm not sure when we will make it out to DL again and we want to get the full experience. I don't know much about DL I am so use to WDW.

I'm with you, never been to DLR, usually WDW! I ended up with a good neighbor hotel right across the street from the corral area, can still see the parks and such. I'm traveling alone so it was a lot easier to justify $110/night than the on sites:-(
I looked around a lot, but I will say the runDisney travel agents were soo helpful, very nice. I didn't end up booking through them since I found a better deal, but they were glad to answer any DLR questions.

I see a lot of people are running solo, I almost signed up solo but chickened out at the last minute and made DH do it with me (like he needed much convincing to do a trip to DL with no kids Ha!) I might just look into a travel agent, thanks!

We normally don't stay on property due to the cost. At Disneyland there are a ton of hotels that are walking distance. But we have stayed at Paradise Pier twice on race weekends just because it is so amazingly convenient. For Tink and Star Wars I literally walked out the hotel doors and my corral was in front of me. So if you can swing it, I totally would! This year I can't swing it though lol.

Still not positive where we're staying for Tink but for Star Wars we're staying at Best Western Stovalls. Its not much further from the corrals then PPH so I'm happy about that. I know lots of runners stay there.

Normally when we go to Disneyland we stay at Hojo's on Harbor. I have stayed there for 2 races and would do so again. Its a hotel, not a motel, with interior corridors. Most properties around Harbor and Katella are motels. They have super comfy beds. Staff are nice. Parking is free. Mimi's restaurant is right next door. Its about a 8 minute walk to the Disneyland gates. A 20 minute walk to the corrals on race morning. A 30 minute walk back to the hotel after the race (security check point to the esplanade is open by then). They offer a runners discount if you call them directly. Oh yea and keurig coffee makers in each room. You can also see the fireworks from some of the rooms and also from the pool area.

I've also stayed at the Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites and the Best Western Park Place Inn and Mini suites and would recommend both. They are both about a 5 minute walk to the parks as they are right by the cross walk to the parks. Both would be a good location for race weekends.

your crew looks strikingly similar to mine! :) (DH, me, DS9, DS6, DD4, DS2, DD4mo) Too bad we don't live near enough family to cover our kiddos while DH and I go run! One reason I'm "just" doing the 10K because w/ no motivator/pacer like him, I wouldn't make the 1/2!!

I know the runDisney travel agents had discounts on everything they were offering, but definitely cheaper rates at the on sites (only 3 of those...so crazy coming from the "WDW side")...good luck!! :)

Thanks for all the info, I am glad I have sometime to weigh my options!! I am sure I will also have many more questions for you guys!

I've been training and training... and developed a stress fracture in my tibia. I'm so frustrated, and heading to the sports medicine doctor tomorrow. I'm also supposed to be at DL in 10 days for MHP.

That's horrible. I'm so sorry! Get better soon!!!

Thanks. The sports medicine doctor said no running for four weeks. But I can walk, bike, and swim. I'm hoping I'll come out stronger!

Truthfully, 4 weeks really isn't that long! Keep up your cardio however you can, let yourself heal and hopefully you'll be good to go!

First Pixie Dust. Did the 5K and 10K in 2014, the half mary this year and now pixie next!!!
