Thank you so much for the link.
Anyone have any info on the casino in Halifax? My cousin is looking forward to winning back some of his cruise cost.![]()
Does anyone have any feedback on the excursions offered in Halifax and St. John? We have a 6 and 10 year old who both love dolphins, seals, whales, etc. We are considering whale watching in either port. The one in Halifax is a shorter excursion (3hrs. vs. 7 hrs.), but I wonder if we have much of a chance of seeing anything. Has anyone done the whale watch in either port?
Also, are the trips to Peggy' Cove or Hopewell Rocks worthwhile? Are there sites in St. John or Halifax that we should be sure to see? So many choices...thanks for any guidance you can give us!![]()
Thank you! I'll look into the whale watch out of St. John/St. Andrew. The one offered through the cruise is all day. I wonder if I can find a good one on my own that is shorter and still see the reversing falls (if it is worth the time). It doesn't seem like there is much more we want to see in the city of St. John. As far as Halifax goes, I wonder if the lighthouses/coastline will be visible from the ship as we approach. I don't know much about the waterfront area, Citadel, Peggy's Cove or Lunenburg. If we stay around Halifax I think we would just explore ourselves. Between Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg and Halifax, which is a more memorable/scenic area? I really appreciate your help! Thanks again!!!Some one once posted that whale watching is more successful in the Bay of Fundy, (was not me my Nova Scotia friends). Peggy's Cove is lovely and I liked it at your kids age. Just be careful around the wave action, they are quite powerful and their is someone nearly every year pulled out because they took foolish risks. Hoepwell Rocks is alo neat, the trick is what the tide will be when you get there. Somewhere is a link to a tide table, which gives the high and low tides. Go whale watching in Saint John and Tour the waterfront in Halifax and maybe go up to the Citadel, or go the cove or Lunenburg, I think that is an excursion too, correct me if i am wrong.

I have read about 25 pages and I have not seen this question, so forgive me if I missed the page that has the answer!
In Saint John, I'd like to visit the NB Museum, the Market, and the Reversing Falls. I think we might start at the museum, go back to the ship for brunch, and then walk the Harbour Passage to the Reversing Falls. We'll hit the market when we get back and see any parts of the museum we might have missed, if time permits. I'm not against grabbing a cab to the Falls, but somewhere I read that the walk is very nice and only about 30 minutes. I also heard there is a ferry. So, that's the question. Is either of those true? Also, someone suggested taking a picnic lunch from the ship would be nice. Is that permitted? I don't want to sound like a cheapskate, but . . . well, ok, I am a cheapskate! LOL! I don't mind spending money, but if I can save in some areas, I can spend more in others. . . like lovely souvenirs!
TIA![]()
I'm sure it's in here somewhere, but I'll ask anyways......how far is the Titanic Cemetery from the port? What's the best way to get there? We thought of taking one of the excursions, but they are either all day or in the afternoon and we just wanted a morning excursion since we are to be meeting a friend in the afternoon.
After going to Cobh Ireland, where the ill-fated journey began, we felt it fitting to also go to the cemetery.
thanks
When I was looking that up on the net, I found this link.

From the superficial glance I gave it, he has done an amazing job, everyone should take a look.
In it, it states that it is about a 4 mile walk one way to the graveyard.
Sorry he does not have one for Saint John.
Gktw = ?
Received the Halifax/Nova Scotia tourist guides today and they are amazing. Just looking thru them makes me want to do a 4 or 5 day vacation up in the area. Thanks for posting the link to order them.
