Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

I just looked it up and there where 196 men & 6136 women who finished.

Thanks for the quick responses, gals! My brother is used to being surrounded by girly things, but he said he wouldn't dress up like a princess, lol! I hope he does it, what a great example to set for my niece and nephew!

I'm running in my first race today! I'm excited and a bit nervous; I just moved to Ohio a week ago and haven't run since. The race is the panerathon 5k in Columbus. Hopefully this run will get me back into training for March!

raangoli -This may have been answered before already...but I was wondering what percentage of the runners were male last year? I am definitely going to do the Princess Half, but my brother has expressed an interest...while I am super excited (he's never run before...ever!) I want to make sure he won't feel too weird...even if my niece is the biggest Disney Princess fan ever

My DH is signed up and we are going with another co-ed couple. The guys probably could run this marathon - they lift weights and are in good athletic condition, but us girls plan to walk and they will walk with us. ::yes::

Yesterday, we got two copies of Redbook - one sent to me and one sent to DH. We could have done without that.

Good luck! Moving is exercise! :cheer2:

I grew up in Ohio (Xenia) and went to The Ohio State University... hope you like your new home. :goodvibes

I just signed up for my first 5K! I signed up to run the Marathon OASIS de Montreal in the 5km Course... on September 13th!

I think thins will give me the boost I need to really get going. I figure my time will not be fantastic since I just started running, but I figure it is a great place to start!

Yeah! Good luck :cheer2:
I one I did yesterday definaly motivated me. I also found that having so many people around helped me to run more than I would on my own.
I went on my own to my 5k, I wish I had brought some one to cheer me on and hold my keys. I think a cheer team is a must for these races.
Make sure to let us know how you do!

:cheer2: Congrulations on you 5K Swmr359 don't worry about a cheer squad, during the princess: you will have it on and off the course.

Good luck 2gr8DisneyKids! You'll have to let us know how you do.

As for the Princess race, I have a question: does anyone know when we may expect the official course map?

Also, if it starts/ends at Epcot like it did last year, how possible is it to stay in one of the resorts near Epcot (Disney's Beach Club Resort/Caribbean Beach Resort/Boardwalk Inn) and walk over early in the am? Are there any swamps/highways/etc getting in the way of that? I've not stayed at any of those resorts so I'm not familiar with the possibility of doing that. Thanks!

I am glad the run went well after the move! Enjoy Ohio, I spent most of my life there, not too bad. I also lived in NOVA for a few years too. :)

That is a great thought about the hotels... I have not stayed at BC/YC or BWI either, but it might be a good way to get DH to agree to an upgrade... all he would have to do with the kids is stick one in the stroller and head over.

I stayed at CBR last year and know you cannot really walk from there... and my only wonderment with the others is that they are walkable to the entrance between "Canada" and "France". I do not know if you can get to the other side without going through the park. :confused3

You will not be allowed to walk through the park in the morning to get to the car park, and you can not get through england, canada and france with out going backstage.
I know that people have walked from hotels to the starting car lot, its be talked about in one of the marathon threads.

Yeah, I figured we couldn't cut through the park in the am but I wasn't sure about walking from the Epcot area hotels to the starting parking lot. On Google Maps I see some trails from the parking lots to the Epcot lot. I'm not sure how scary they'd be at 4 am ;)

Thanks! I'm still getting used to Ohio, when I run I have to print out a map of my route so I don't get lost! I lived in Northern Virginia my whole life, so I knew how to get anywhere, from anywhere; this is quite a change!

Hi everyone -

I am staying that the AKV, Kidani Village for the run --- anyone know how much the taxi cost is appx?

Is there anyone else who is staying there, who would want to share the cost of the taxi?

WONDERFUL!!!!! Taxi, does fit more than 2 -- if there is anyone else who would love to join in??? :goodvibes

PM me, I would love to keep in touch -- this is my first too. I just had spinal surgery so my training will be on hold for a period of time. If I can start training by Oct/Nov i will be happy:yay:

Hi Everyone -

I went to the dr on Friday, and I got the "ALL CLEAR" to drive, and to start using my elip maching :cool1:

Considering I am only 4 weeks out of surgery and I have a plate and 6 screws in my neck -- I am excited.

If all goes well, I am hoping to be fused (healed 100%) by maybe the end of this month!! or atleast given the all clear to maybe start running again :lovestruc

Needless to say, I am moving right along!!!

Hope everyone is doing great too!!! This thread is a bit quite ;)

Swim-mom I'm so glad you are heeling so quickly, great news.
Just take it slow, you have plenty of time to get on track with your training.
