Hi Stacey!! Missed catching up with everyone at the last Princess. I am hoping to be able to do Princess 2010. Have to see how finances go after spending 11 day in the world in January! :woohoo:

Katie are you enabling on this board now? :thumbsup2 Erica would be so proud. :goodvibes

BTW, this is your good friend Shadowrunner ;)

This is the second time I have been doing some enabling on the skirt front on these boards in the few days I have been here, lol. Erica is around here somewhere, I just happen to be beating her to it, lol. ((HUGS))

Hi, fellow princesses!
I just wanted to check in and say hello.

My training is going okay. I know some of you may laugh at this, but I was very proud of myself during our last training session...I was able to run for a full 3 minutes. I know that's nothing compared to what most of you are doing, but it's a huge step for me!

For all you skirt-lovers--tell me more! I actually went to Target a couple of weeks ago and bought a pair of running shorts. They were okay, but they kept riding up, and they were already a little shorter than I preferred. So then I started wearing my DH's shorts. (They acutally look more like basketball shorts.) They work a little better since they're longer, but they still ride up as well and they're hot even though they're suppose to have the moisture wicking stuff. I would love to find something a little more "girlie" yet comfortable to run in.

Congrats on your first 3 minutes! When I first started running earlier this year I could barely make it 60 seconds without doubling over. My next run will be my final week of the C25K program - 30 minutes. I still can't believe I'm capable of running that long. I'm incredibly slow, but I'm doing it.

I'm a skirt girl too. Try a few different ones when they are on sale, because finding out what works for you is key. I really wanted to find a skirt with the compression shorts underneath, but I've learned to accept the fact that I have weird thighs or something, and no matter what style and size I try they roll up on me. My favorite is the running skirt style from runningskirts.com. They have an a-line shape that works well on my body, and even though they are only the brief style, I feel well covered and never find myself tugging on anything. They usually have some older colors in both the running and athletic styles on the sale page for 1/2 off. Love them!

Another vote for running skirts! I even wear mine to physical therapy! I must say I am the cutest one there. :thumbsup2

Caitsmama, Thank you for the reply about bringing kids. Here is a little more information for anyone who can help.
This is all very new to me, I'm just in the 3rd week of C25k and loving it! I have 4 boys 16,13,10, and 6. The older 2 are going to do the TOT in October with me (trying to help Mom get in shape) and after reading so much about the Princess I would really love to make that the next goal. The question is should I take the boys or not? 3 of them would have to miss a day of school and I really didn't know how much they would enjoy it. You know, is it all girlie with no boys allowed? Is it more of a ladies weekend thing or a family affair? How tired will I be? Having never been to any kind of race I am clueless as what to expect and I need to make reservations this week if I'm really serious.
Thank you to everyone who has read this far. And Caitsmama, way to go with your daughter, I wish I had started this when my boys were little.

Hey Ann! Not Stacy, but so wanted to say hey because I grew up in Marietta. Went to Sprayberry High. So HI sort of/kind of neighbor! :rotfl: My brother is 14 so I'm thinking about this from his perspective. I only saw maybe three girls in the teenager area when I was there last. Everyone else are "ladies" KWIM. My brother would totally dig a race of any kind that had some girls at least slightly older than him in it, but not so much being surrounded totally by the grown up types. I wouldn't get him to go with me on this one, though we've done other stuff together. I just don't think there's much to keep his attention here if you know what I mean. HTH

As far as being tired, Stacy acts like it was no big thing. She's not all that sore, happy, happy. I, on the other hand, thought I was going to DIE. I slept for the next two days like I was in a coma. I've also never been so sore. I walked like an 80 year old woman for a week after this thing.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED doing this race. I've signed up for two more in 2010. But that didn't stop me from calling Stacy on my cell when we were on the last bridge to let her know that this whole thing was her idea, her fault and that I was totally blaming her for it! Sadly, I was so out of breath she didn't know I was telling her it was her fault. She might have thought I was telling her I was having a stroke. I'm not sure about that! :rotfl:

And actually, that sleeping like I was in a coma thing was kinda awesome. I'm usually up four and five times a night. :cloud9:

Thanks Lauren, you're hilarious! I already walk like an 80 year old woman so I may need to go ahead and reserve the ECV now.:rotfl: You've given me a lot to think about. I'm glad to know I have a neighbor (sort of) on the boards. We are closer to Kennesaw Mountain and all I can say is I have a new perspective on hills since we've started walking on them instead of driving past them. :scared1:

The shirt size was small....I take a M and had to go to XL to get my arms in, but the rest of the shirt is too big for me.
At the expo last year you could change your shirt if you needed too, I hope they do that in 2010.

Ooh thanks for the info! I'll have to keep that in mind.

Wow, there are some good deals in the outlet! But none are my size :( Oh well, at least now I know where to be looking! Thanks!

Hi Ladies!

I just registered for the 2010 Princess! I am so excited about it! I had been wanting to don one and knew I would love to do one at Disney, and then there it was... and right at the start of DS's March break!

I am registered and booked at PORs... starting training when I get back from vacation on Aug. 10th! princess:

Do most of you take your kids with you to the Princess or is this a "Ladies" weekend sort of thing? I'm at the end of the 2nd wk of the c25k and am looking forward to the Tower of Terror 5k with my kids. I sure hope we'll be ready. We've never done anything like this before and as soon as I discovered Disney held these races a light bulb went off....exercise, family time, Disney....so here I am wondering if the Princess half is out of the question. I may be jumping the gun but that is usually the case when it comes to Disney.
Ann

The whole family is actually coming with me. It is an add-on to our March break/my birthday trip. NOt so sure how the kids will feel about actually getting up, but I know they will love getting to do something different at Disney! Not to mention seeing the characters.

Swmer359 for running skirts/skorts try joesnewbalanceoutlet.com There are great deals and free shipping. The NB bonita skirt is nice and there are several colors. The skirts are under the short catagory. I checked the web site and the inventory is a little low and I don't know your size, but hopefully you will find something. I ALWAYS wear a skirt.

I'm really hoping that I'll be able to run in the Princess half, but have to wait until my DH knows his work/school schedule before we make a commitment. Did the half sell out last year? I'm wondering how much time I have before I'd be cutting it close to register. Thanks!

Last year I think they said it sold out, but that was only because they reduced the number of participants. Not sure if that makes sense the way I wrote it... In other words, they originally were planning to accept 10,000 runners, but when they hit 7,500 they closed the race and said they were sold out.

I'd say you still have plenty of time, the race hasn't even reached 50% full yet. (Once it reaches 50%, Disney will start to post updates on the registration page of the event website.)

Thank you for the information. I was wondering at what point Disney started to post updates on the registration - so 50% is the number to watch for.

I know that I plan on registering. I just got my notice for my bonus so I will be registering me and my BFF on 8/24. I'll have to get her to join the boards so that she can join in on the party.
