Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

I had such a blast at Princess Weekend last year, I can't wait to do it again. I look forward to hearing about everyone's training, and most importantly, what everyone is running in. I am a skirt addict and can't imagine running in anything else!

Zakismom, I took have discovered the running skirt, and I am in LOVE!!! I am so much more comfortable in them than shorts! Now I need a yellow one to match my Belle bib! princess:

Skirts are so addictive aren't they. I just got a "talking to" from my mother the other day because I had so many. I do know of a place that carries the perfect Belle yellow if you are interested.

Katie, I am TOTALLY interested! Feel free to PM me the info! Thanks! :)

On another note, I just called to add the dining plan to our Princess Weekend package, and after being bounced around a few times, I finally got to the 'right' person. She told me we were not able to add the DDP to the Princess Weekend packages. Is this true?! If it is, why not?! :confused3:headache:

I'm not going to lie, I am pretty disappointed if this is true. We have fallen in love with the DDP, and if we can't use it, we surely will be bringing a lot more food on our own to eat in the room. Definitely a $$ loss for WDW!

runprincess run -- post your questions here - i am sure there are enough of us who have been to WDW plenty of times between us, that we can help ya!! :)

ArmyWife - i don't know.. i would check with another CM, that doesn't seem to make much sense.. i mean, you are paying for the DDP, it's not free, so why couldn't they add it to the princess discount?? Please keep us posted!

Lauren..... heeeeey lady.... 2 more sleeps for me til the Poly.... ;) I'll be thinking of ya my friend!!! LOL My sis's gonna drive me crazy with all this wedding planning stuff!! We have an appt. at the bridal place near the GF so my sis can meet her Disney wedding planner on Thurs.

hey, new to this thread, wondering if anyone knows how much the special rated tickets cost for getting into the parks. I haven't registered for the 1/2 marathon yet (so I can't see the rates on the princess marathon page), but I need to show DH the cost for everything...

thanks in advance for any help

I booked 3 nights at POFQ and added a 5 day base ticket (no hopper, expiry) because we're staying a few extra days, and the price for the tickets were cheaper than undercover tourist or ticketmania!

Here's the example that I know for the tickets from last year: One day,one park $50, regular $75. Our 5-day with hopper: $222 (including tax).

I find that tickets through groups (conferences, the marathons, etc) are the best prices you'll find. More so than the discounts through AAA and the other websites.

UT has a 5 day PH (plus 1 day free) for $271 so there is a considerable savings.

How is everyone's training going? I have not started my official MFM training as of yet but still run often. It's been really hot around here so I haven't really felt like getting outside and have stuck to the treadmill. I did run outside in Florida last week while visiting my dad and it was sooooooo hot. I felt sick!

Hope everyone is staying cool and enjoying their training!

I have a fall marathon planned, so my training is in full swing right now. So far so good. I am afraid to be too pleased with it that I might jinx myself. I started useding run/walk intervals in my training and it has made summer training so much easier. Wish I had done this years ago.

Hi, fellow princesses!
I just wanted to check in and say hello.

My training is going okay. I know some of you may laugh at this, but I was very proud of myself during our last training session...I was able to run for a full 3 minutes. I know that's nothing compared to what most of you are doing, but it's a huge step for me!

For all you skirt-lovers--tell me more! I actually went to Target a couple of weeks ago and bought a pair of running shorts. They were okay, but they kept riding up, and they were already a little shorter than I preferred. So then I started wearing my DH's shorts. (They acutally look more like basketball shorts.) They work a little better since they're longer, but they still ride up as well and they're hot even though they're suppose to have the moisture wicking stuff. I would love to find something a little more "girlie" yet comfortable to run in.

Hey everyone! I'm new to these boards so I wanted to introduce myself by saying I too am going to run the DPHM March 2010!

I'm super excited about this and have been training for what looks to be a challenging but rewarding road ahead. I came here seeking some support and hoping to give support to other princesses who may need it along the way.

Three minutes is GREAT!!! :cool1: That's where I started and last week I did my first 11 minutes which was a full mile! Wahoo! Just keep trucking and you'll get there!

As far as the skirts go, they are wonderful! They have little shorts under them that don't seem to ride up, and they are so comfortable! I also don't worry about how my rear looks because the skirt covers the shorts! I've had great luck finding them at Marshall's and TJ Maxx for less than half the price as other places. In fact, I have bought all of my running clothes there, and I have been so happy with them.

Welcome to the group, leeshiebean! :goodvibes I hope you find this group fun and informative., and supportive too! Looking forward to hearing about your training and getting to know you!

UGAFan0829: Three minutes is great! We were all there at one point on another and you definitely have reason to celebrate. :D For running skirts there are lots of options but the three big ones are skirtsports.com, runningskirts.com and skritgoddess.com. I recommend Skirt Goddess as the best option of the three. Heather's skirts are great quality and the shorts fit great.

Welcome leeshiebean! I too am new to the boards and have found them very supportive in the few days I have been here.

Thank you both for the support encouragement! It's things like this that help keep me focused on my goal!!:)

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Tomorrow I am headed to a local running shop to get fitted for new running shoes. I'm still early in my training, but I think it bodes well that I'm actually looking forward to my runs each day. We have just under 31 weeks until the race (I have a weekly countdown in my iPhone calendar, hahaha) so I'm taking it slow so I don't scare myself into giving up. I've run a few 5Ks over the past few years, so going further than 3.1 miles is something I haven't done since high school track practices. But forget the past-I've got my mind set on March 2010. WOO!

p.s. I do have a question for the registration form. How do the t-shirt sizes run? I'd usually be a medium, but I'm tall and sometimes shirts come up short on me. Should I anticipate the shirts fitting short or snug? Thanks!

I'm not laughing...I can only run about a minute before I have to walk. I think the most important thing is that I put on my running clothes and made it outside!

I've never tried a running skirt, I'd like to but I don't want to pay the money and find out I hate it, so I'm waiting for a good sale :)

As for my training... I'm just getting back into running, I had to stop for 3 weeks :scared1: because I had a cyst on my big toe joint (oooowww!)
I'm finally done working on Saturday mornings, so now I'm looking for some short races to help keep me motivated.

The shirt size was small....I take a M and had to go to XL to get my arms in, but the rest of the shirt is too big for me.
At the expo last year you could change your shirt if you needed too, I hope they do that in 2010.
