Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

I'm hoping to get a good spot for the parade this year too. Two years ago I was clueless about how competitive it would be for parade spots. I got trapped on the area underneath the Crossroads kiosk. I was doing the whole "hold the camera over your head and shoot" thing. I actually got a few good pics but would like to see the parade coming toward me this year, not away from me!

Can anyone tell me about "trading with Jawas"?

Do they still trade with you?

What do you give them to trade?

What do they give you to trade?

I think my son would love this!

They traded last year, they take anything as long as it's not unwrapped food, or anything real valuable.... last year we gave them a back of the pins ( those rubber ones) and got a powerbar...

I read (I believe in the Live Reports thread) that the Jawas like shiny things, so we took fake gold coins, fake diamond rings, and some other shiny things (i.e., inexpensive toys/party favors) to trade. We got a glitter-filled bouncy ball and a package of crayons in return. I could see that the Jawas had FPs in their pouches, but alas, we weren't given any.

It is a lot of fun. When you offer a Jawa an item, if they like it they jump up and down with their hands in the air, and seem to expect you to do the same if you like what you're given. We have some fun "jumping with the Jawas" pictures.

Also just got confirmation from our "inside source" that the Jawas will also trade during breakfast at Sci Fi

Black is not the best choice but plenty of people wear it anyways...But it's a good idea to bring another shirt just in case. Its' already hitting 93 degrees here in Orlando so it's going to be a very hot SWW

Thank you for your thoughts! I may just wear a lighter choice and buy something new there!

A few other questions I have...What do some of you say to the characters? I usually try to figure out something to say but sometimes I get a little "star struck." Next question, out of all the shows what do you think is the show that should not be missed?

I'm not a huge character person but it's always fun to say "Hi Anni" to Darth Vader :rotfl2:
Are you very much into SW? for the shows it depends on your interests...

That. Is. AWESOME. I am SOOOOOOO glad you guys are talking about this; my boys will LOVE this during the SciFi breakfast! Is it a sure thing, or should I keep it a surprise for my kids in case it's not really going on? (or if Jawas won't be there)

Edited to add: What other objects do you recommend bringing for trading?

The Jawas will be there as they've been heavily advertised as being at the breakfast. They also roam around DHS trading with guests.

Trade anything your kids won't mind giving away: a marble, old trading card, play money, etc...

Getting super excited planning for our trip. Only 29 days away!! A few questions I thought of...

1. When we went two years ago, we did not do any shows since our boys were still pretty young (5 & 7). Trying to decide whether to plan for any, all or none this year with our now 7 & 9 DS. Which shows do you guys recommend for children? Also has anyone had any luck taking younger uninterested siblings (I have 4 & 4 DD) to these shows or should we split up?

2. Planning on being at DHS all 3 days of our SWW, but trying to decide whether we'll do 1, 2 or 3 RD there or if we'll RD somewhere else & park hop... If we aren't doing JTA or celebrity autographs and have ADR for both SW dining & FTF, what things would be must do RD activities? We plan to go straight to Chewie one morning but curious if there are other SW things that will save us significant time doing first thing in the morning? (I realize all this is subject to change once we see a schedule of events & see what characters are there)

3. Speaking of characters, anybody else excited about Kenny's rumor of a potential Emperor Palpatine Stitch. Anyone hear anymore buzz on this?

Thanks for all this great info!!!

If you are into sw then stars of the saga is a great show, also SW voices is good for people interested in the cartoons and voice over acting.
You could use your knowledge of sw and have a small conversation with the face characters... with the full covered characters is harder

Awesome thank you for the advice!!

If anyone is looking I'm getting ready to cancel the following ADR's. They are both for 6 people (2 adults, 3 kids, 1 infant). We have decided to cancel our WDW trip and are heading back to Disneyland (much closer of a drive for us.)

June 15 –
9:10 AM Sci Fi – Star Wars Breakfast
5:55 PM H&V – Star Wars Dinner/Fantasmic

Thank you! I'm sad about not going to WDW but the more I thought about driving 2+ days straight through with a 7, 5, 3 and 4 month old made me realize my sanity is worth a whole lot more than the trip. But I can't be too sad since we are going to upgrade our park hoppers at DL to an annual pass so I'm going to get a year of Disney. :yay: Plus DL is only about a 6 1/2 hour drive for us so much more doable. :)
