Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

Yay!! I was kinda sad that I didn't have a Star Wars shirt to wear for SWW. But I was picking up some clothes, and I found one I forgot I had bought from Threadless!! Can't wait to show it off. Sorry just wanted to celebrate a little lol

What you wear is important to us :goodvibes
If you look at last years thread dsuring the actual SWW you would see us posting what we were wearing in order to find one another :)
I met a couple of Dissers this way last year....speaking of which

Since the dust has settled on the dining reservations and everyone here should have (and if you don't, it's time to start) a startup plan for the weekends, especially for the morning hours, I think it's time to start the
Where and when do we meet each weekend? post.

So I was thinking since many of you get there early to sign up for JTA and now for breakfast I think it's a good idea to meet someone before the parade starts, maybe even watch it together.
I'll be there every Saturday and Sunday of the weekends, so what do you guys think about meeting on Hollywood Blvd before the parade? maybe around 9:30am to 10am? start gathering and if you don't want to watch the parade just swing by for a quick hello...
Just a thought.
The other option is meeting right after the parade, we usually have lunch at ABC Commisary or Backlot Express, this is the perfect time because there are no huge lines around 11:30 for food, again you don't have to eat there just a quick hello...
I'll be out of the house for most of the day (MK day with my little niece and daughter, I know I'm crazy, it's Spring Break here in Orange Co.) but feel free to float any ideas
I'm leaning towards after the parade at Backlot Express...what do you guys think?

:crazy2: I go to sleep early and wake up early to work 12hours not logging onto the Dis for one day and I miss this amazing announcement! :darth:

Ah wells. Congrats on all those who got their ressies. Looks like SWW is looking more interesting each week since Hoopla was cancelled. :thumbsup2

Did you try and get a ressie? I have been hearing people are still able to get them :)

I love the idea of getting together before the parade AND possibly watching the parade together... BUT whenever everyone decides I am totally in for a meet the Dissers :)

So far our Star Wars day is Friday May 16 as we're also attending the Rebel Rendezvous on the 15th. But if there's a meet on 17th or 18th I'll try to make it.

I called yesterday morning and got a ressie for breakfast at Sci Fi on June 1st at 8:30am. We decided last night, to also try and get a dinner ressie at Hollywood and Vine. I called this morning at 7:30 and the ONLY time I could get that entire weekend was a 5:05pm ressie on 5/31.

Wow, these events really booked up fast.

You'll have to tell us all about the Rebel Rendezvous...

My boyfriend and I aren't going to be there till the third weekend so we missed out on this one.

Well I couldn't resist....Not only did I book the Breakfast at Sci-Fi on 5/30, I also just added the dinner on 5/30 at H&V :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Hubby thinks I am crazy, but hey, we will have a 4yo (who loves the star wars characters) and a 1yo and honestly, the relief of knowing that he will meet many characters is worth the cost to me :) :) This is our first SWW and we are staying at our home @ the BWV! This trip is turning out to be amazingly exciting especially since we don't have to worry about using the buses to get to HS( breaking down a double stroller on those things can be insane :rotfl2:) :chewy::darth::ewok::yoda:

Curious if anyone knows what time they do the storm troopers park opening show? We have Ressies at SciFi Diner set 8:10 so know we will be entering the park prior to it opening. Didn't know if we would see the opening show or not. Thanks!

I read somewhere they will be a pair of stormtroopers by the interchange each morning in the park itself.

I caved!!! I was able to get both the breakfast and the dinner on the date I wanted, May 27th, however I am still not sure which one we will keep. Probably the dinner I am thinking because it has the fantasmic package with it, but I have to talk it over with the husband and the kids to see what they would like more. We're excited!:cool1:

Well since the park will be open by 7:30am, you should be fine to see the opening show and then head over to breakfast.

Mom2TwoMickeys, we are staying at BWV that weekend as well. This will be our first SWW and our first stay at BWV. We bought into VWL this past November, so this will actually be our first stay as a DVC member. We are checking in on the 30th with the 31st planned as our main day at DHS. I hope you guys have a wonderful trip.

Wow thanks for this info! I didn't realize the park would open that early! Since we have Ressies should we get there much before 7:30?

:offtopic: Kinda off Topic but not...

All of us staying at a WDW resort for SWW are either making FP ressies online now or about to (I will be in three days)

Can anyone tell me some more details.

1. IS it really just three FPs a day?
1a. and is that just three pre-orders or three FPs a day total?
1b. (side note not really pertaining to my planning but rumors I have heard regarding FP) I have also heard that FPs for character meet and greets (like the princess) also count towards your FP total for the day, is this true?

2. When you start booking your online FP ressies is it just for the day that is 60 days away, or can you do your whole trip at once?

Thanks for any tips you can give :grouphug: (I am trying to get upbeat about the new FP system, but right now I really, really don't seem to care for it)!

I like the idea of watching the parade together as well! I will be there the 31st. We have dinner that night @ 6. We are doing JTA, but no real plans otherwise till the afternoon.

My Ressies are for 8 am breakfast as well... normally they do the pre show before rope drop around 7:30 ish (Yulilin can correct me here) so you probably will see it and then scoot over to your breakfast.

How cool!! :thumbsup2 We are the same, first SWW and first stay at BWV!! We bought our BWV DVC last year too, but we stayed at the VGF in November(couldn't pass that one up), so this will be our 2nd trip as DVC, but our first trip "home".We are doing a short trip in May(29-June 1st) since we have our big trip in December. :yay: We LOVE owning DVC! Its just another reason to get to Disney World more than once a year :lmao: Thank you, I hope you have a wonderful trip as well :wave2:

wow, I haven't checked the boards in a while and was so excited to see the character meal news! I was even more excited when I called and was able to get the reservations I wanted at the times I wanted!

The castmember who took my reservations told me H&V was a Fantasmic Dinner Package but from reading the boards it appears to be optional.

I wasn't set on going to Fantasmic because I wanted to be sure to see the fireworks. Should I call back and ask to just do the regular dinner? or will F be done in time for fireworks?

Unfortunately, yes it is only 3 a day. The meet and greet do count against your allotted three, and you HAVE to make three. I have American Idol and Captain EO as throw aways because nobody will probably use them anyway. I read somewhere one lady was holding Anna and Elsa to replace 7DMT when it came available and I thought that was rude since it is a popular one. BOG fastpass for lunch does not count against the three. And you can also book for your whole trip. We will be there 12 nights and I was able to choose for my whole trip.
