Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

I am booked for D-Tech May 17th! Or rather my bf is lol

They gave me a confirmation number, but I did not receive a confirmation e-mail - should I be concerned? I added a note like pp suggested. Will that be enough??

With a confirmation number, CMs can confirm it with their info. You may want to check your spam file in your email.

They took my email but I never got an email confirmation, nor did they say I was going to get one.

I keep checking my e-mail and spam filters, I still have not gotten a single e-mail about d-tech and I have four figures with two reservation/confirmation numbers.

:surfweb: If I get my e-mail I will be sure to let everyone know. :surfweb:

I made my reservation on Monday. He also took my email and looked up my hotel reservations, but when I asked he said I would NOT get an email confirmation. Strange that some people are getting them.

We just never know what tomorrow has in store for us. I can't even begin to imagine. I'm so glad to hear that E has been doing so well. I hope his cardio appointment goes great! I keep hearing that there are many changes this year at SWW. My fingers are crossed that a good amount of changes have to do with not being out in the hot sun so much. It's good that the heat hasn't caused any issues with E. My son has severe full body tics and seizures when he overheats. We usually bring frozen water bottles, but we are staying at a Disney resort and will only have a refrigerator. The vest I bought him has icepacks that freeze by a chemical reaction at 53 degrees, so we can freeze it in the refrigerator!! Not sure how we will work out the 2nd set of ice packs, but I'm sure we'll figure it out. If the vest works as it says, he should get 2 hours of coolness from it and it should take 45 minutes to freeze a spare icepack. We also have 2 hand held air conditioners which we used last year for him. Stuck one on either side of his wheelchair. He would love to be cool enough to walk more at SWW! And if it fits under a costume he'd be even more happy! The name tags are a great souvenir and not expensive. :grouphug: If you have the time, sit down with E and watch the movies. If you have Netflix, the Clone Wars is now on there. I know the voices show is going to be about the new cartoon series, Star Wars Rebels. Maybe this is something you and Ethan can start watching together once it starts airing on Disney XD? As a kid, I've always enjoyed the movies, but I didn't consider myself a fan. It wasn't until my oldest son got hooked on them that I really started getting interested in Star Wars. Back then we went to SWW for him. Since then we have made is a family thing and we all enjoy Star Wars. Well, Star Wars, Star Trek and Dr. Who.

Oh wow. I hope you find a solution for that second set of ice packs. Could you check with 1st aid to se if they have a freezer? I was thinking about a food service location, but they probably have strict rules about non-food items in their freezers. The front desk at the resort will put items in the freezer for you, so I've heard. I would think that they especially would if it's medically necessary. The fridges in the room are great but I do wish they had at least a small space for ice packs, etc. I have heel spurs in my feet and it's nice to ice them down after a long day. Rolling a frozen water bottle is the BEST though.

I'm going to watch the movies. Dillon LOVED Dr. Who, too. His dad is the Trekkie of the family.

You know we are all Disney and SW nutz here, so asking us questions about star wars isn't a problem BUT if you feel weird asking here's something that might help. http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Character-Encyclopedia-Publishing/dp/0756682533/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397137783&sr=8-1&keywords=star+war+character+guides

Thank you!! I have the feeling some of my questions will pop up while at SWW!! :) If I think of something beforehand, I'll let you know!

What sort of tech do you guys bring? I'm getting the MM package but I'll likely have my DSLR & iPhone too. I'm thinking I may want to video some and my iPhone battery has been wimping out on me. Could be the 3k+pix I have on it. :/ So funny. Why? I can't sync my phone b/c my HD on my computer is too full!!! Anyway, I'm thinking about buying one of those portable chargers for the trip. Just not sure what mAh to spring for. Sorry to be semi off topic. But I just want to have the right tools to capture the moments ;)

For JTA on non-SWW days, what time will they let ppl in the park? We have breakfast at Sci Fi at 8:15 on the 22nd. I'm thinking he won't get to try for JTA that day. Hmm.

Thanks again for all the support!!!!

Via my Twitter feed, WDW News Today just announced an Add-On VIP Package. It costs $499...if only all these awesome things were more affordable so more people could enjoy them! Looks awesome!

WOW!! That's expensive but if people can afford it go for it. I wonder if the dessert party will only be for people with this ultimate package or if they will sell it as a regular fireworks dessert party, like at MK and now Epcot :confused3

I have the Dis on my phone and constantly go on it to report live. If you have any questions post them here. I'm sure some of us will be able to answer on the go.
My battery on my phone also runs out fast so we bought a inexpensive portable charger at Walgreens, I think it was around $20 . It's called MyCharge, it fits in my pocket and it has 1 full charge for my phone.
As for JTA on Non SWW days they open the park closer to 9am so you have to go straight to sign up for that

Thinking about what area they might use for the dessert party for the VIP tour...maybe it'll be next to the autograph tents around Echo Lake? I don't see any other area that would be good for this. Or maybe in the outdoor patio area of the Brown Derby? I'm calling just to find out

That price is CRAZY :rolleyes2. You would think for that sort of money, you would also get a backstage autograph session with all the characters there. I can't imagine paying $499 a person for that. That is 2 grand for my family.

I guess I will just stand in line.

Holy crap, is Disney milking this cow from all four utters or what?!?!

I truly hope it doesn't get to the point where the only ones that get a wonderful disney experience are those that can afford to pay big bucks for it. It sort of started that direction when the introduced FP+ and only resort guests could book ahead of time... They have relaxed that a little, but now they are adding this. I hope they don't go the route of buying Fast Passes. There are lots of folks who can barely, and I mean barely, afford to go to disney as it is. For many, it is a once in a lifetime trip. I would hate to think it would get to the point that unless you are willing to shell out big bucks, the only thing you can do is walk around the park and ride one or two lower tier rides.

I'd do this if it were good for more than just one day! And my daughter would probably fork it over if it meant a meet and greet with Mark Hamill, lol. But really, for one day that's an awfully expensive perk just for head of the line at a few events.

The Star Wars Conventions have various VIP tickets that make this look cheap, though, so I'm guessing SW fans with money to burn will be snatching these up like candy.

My boyfriend and I both carry these mini packs, in them contains his great digital camera, both of us carry smartphones, a battery recharger for all the gear. Sunglasses case, and we fit bottle of waters in the packs too!

What is kewl about this recharger you can even use the item while it's hooked to the recharger. It charged everything we brought with us.

Here are links to the pack and the battery charger.

PS these packs are small enough even your son could carry one if he so wished. They are awesome!

This is *why* Disney bought Star Wars. Because the fans are rabid and spend money like water. THIS is why I think Disney actually WOULD consider a 5th park based around StarWars. I just think they will make sure Episode 7-8ish does well.

Just called to ask questions about the VIP package, they will have a roped off area for the parade in front of the Hat stage to the right (so it looks like the same area they used for the parents of JTA kids marching in the parade) and it's the same area for the fireworks. He talked about a 10 minute show happening before the fireworks and that the people in the vIP will have front row area for that and then the fireworks go off.
Well if you're standing that close to the Hat that's a horrible spot for the fireworks.
He couldn't elaborate on any more details

Oh I agree, Disney first bought Marvel cause of the comic hero craze is HUGE right now.... Then the made sure Avatar rights fell in their lap and they are building the Avatar Land in Animal Kingdom... then the rolled right into finishing what they started decades ago and acquired Star Wars, cause let's face it this deal has been in the works since I was a KID! (when 900 years old you reach, look as good you will not :joker: )

I remain hopeful that JJ Abrams will do well. I really liked how he mixed the old with the new and got a new story line going with Star Trek. I am not sure he can do the same thing with Star Wars, however the quality in which Star Trek was done gives me a little hope!
