Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

Is the Ray Park show basically just martial arts with kids? I got a FP for it but if that is all it is, I think dd would rather use her FP for the Rockin Roller Coaster.

He talks about Darth Maul and the inspiration for the moves he does...about his training in martial arts and then the kids picked go on stage and do a small demostration of it. You could go on youtube and watch it to get a better idea

No, it's not just the kids... He explains how he got into the business, how he learned to do what he does, little things that make him more real... We loved the show last year and we have already made FP+ for his show again this year! (Remember party of only two adults here!)

I called today and got one for the 15th. It's easier to find them if you choose a non-SWW day.

I wish we could! We are only there for such a short period of time and hitting SWW one day and F&W another day - Thanks for that idea though!

I have a breakfast on May 20th at 9:10 for 4 that I need to cancel if that is something you would be interested in, we can coordinate a time.

I would LOVE take that one off of your hands but we will already be back in good-ole-new-jersey by the 20th. So sweet of you!

Thanks for the FP tip - have to check with the fam to see what they want to do - go for the sure thing or... Our FPs are done by 12:30/1:30 on our SWW days, so waiting and gambling for the 4th FP on one of our days *might* be an option.

Can you tell me more about the Jawa trading? DS is on the autism spectrum, so knowing in advance how this works might make it go much more smoothly. (Sigh.) Do the Jawas offer (only) one thing to swap when approached? Or, do they offer a choice of this or that for a trader's object? Do they speak or are trades all done by signing and gesturing? Where do we typically find the Jawas? Anything I'm forgetting to ask??? Thanks again!

The Jawas don't speak it's all done with hand gestures, it happens very fast, you approach the Jawa show them what you have, they accept it go into their bags and take something out and give it to you...If you don't like what you get you have to approach them again...keep in mind this is all done in the open and many kids are around them. The Jawas come out in the afternoon hours around streets of America and the Premiere Theater. If your son has a problem with crowds of kids I would try and talk to the CM handler and explain to see if a Jawa can separate himself rom the crowd to trade

Two questions!
And second: what do folks typically bring to trade with Jawas? I grabbed a few 99 cent Disney things at Walgreens today - Disney lip gloss/chapstick, Princess bouncing balls, etc. Thinking light and small to carry them in cargo shorts pockets... No edibles, right? Think DS will really get into this...but want to be in line with what others are trading!

I bought a box of these.

When will we know who will be at the Stars Saga on June 7th?

Ray Park and Billy Dee Williams
the full list of celebrities is on the first post of this thread. The voice actors do Behind the Force and the movie actors do Stars of the Saga....the real question is who will do Stars of the Saga the last weekend since all the actors are voice actors

What show will Mark Hamill be in? :confused3 Or will he only be in the parade?

And on a similar note, do we think John Ratzenberger will do Stars of the Saga?

So cool! Thanks for sharing! I DID see these at Walgreens - just sold separately for 99 cents each, instead of by the box full. Didn't grab one - chose a yoyo instead, in addition to the sealed lip gloss and foam balls. But, now that I know shiny things are so desirable (!), I'll go back to the store and grab a couple of these! Thanks!!! And I do appreciate the tip on edibles. I'd know they are fresh and new, but the trader's parents might wonder...so I'll stick to the little toys.

And yulilin3, thanks for all the detailed info on the trading process. This will help a LOT in prepping DS for how it works and to help him understand that it is non-verbal, fast, and crowded (and not necessarily final, as he can re-trade a less-than-desirable item). He does enjoy pin trading with CMs and this seems fairly similar to that...

A thought just occured to me...a few years ago Dave Filoni came to SWW announced and they did a Q&A show at the Hat Stage (not sure if anyone here went that year)
Thinking about Mark Hamill and how crazy the line for Premiere Theater would be if he does a show there, they might do the same thing, just do it at the Hat Stage, not ideal because of the heat but it would solve the problem of the masses. Plus they might use the cameras that they set up and show the interview on the large screen at the Hat...just a thought.

Stars of the Saga has only had 2 actors in the past...so I don't think Hamill will be in that one. As of right now he is scheduled just for the parade.... Read my post above
John Ratzenberger will do Stars of the Saga

I looked back at above post.. Mark Hamill does not have a fast pass for a show.. and a show for him has not been announced... Is that correct ??Thanks! :confused3 :thumbsup2

We are all confused as to what show Hamill will do...but the good thing is that as soon as SWW actually starts I will be able to find more info on what he will be doing and I will report back as soon as I know

Do you think this means that there is another, yet to be announced show with Mark Hamill?

I thought he would do the Stars Of The Saga Show but have so little experience of these events I am slightly confused

Nobody knows what it means for sure. It could mean Stars of the Saga. It could mean that they create a show especially for him. We don't know yet but will be waiting for yulilin's reports. Her speculation that he may do an interview on the hat stage, to allow the most guests the opportunity to see him, may be a good one.

I could be completely wrong and he could be at Stars of the Saga but there's a huge gap between shows. Normally Behind the force is at 1:45pm and Stars of the Saga at 3:30pm
But during Mark Hamill weekend Behind the Force is at 1:30pm and Stars of the Saga at 4:45pm
which leads me to believe that Hamill will be in another show, just himself and maybe James Arnold Taylor who is the host of all the weekends

First, I wanted to thank yulilin3 and everyone else here for this amazing thread. I subscribed several months ago when I first started thinking about attending SWW for the first time and I have been following ever since. I am normally very good at planning our Disney trips but I think I now need some advice.

I will be taking DS7 to WDW May 30-June 1. He is a huge fan of the movies but doesn't love Clone Wars and his favorite character is Darth Maul. We are staying at POP and will be at DHS Saturday and Sunday with the only limitation being our 8:30 flight home Sunday night. This is a surprise trip as we are taking a family vacation to WDW later in June, so this weekend is all about Star Wars. Here are my current plans:

Saturday
FtF
H&V at 4:40
D-tech at 9:00 am
Star Tours FP at 12:55
LMA FP at 2:15 (needed something)

Sunday
Sci-fi at 8:00 am
Star Tours FP at 10:40
Indiana jones at 9:30 (again, needed something)

The good news is that I have all of that booked and we won't ride RNRC or TOT this weekend. The bad news is I feel over planned and don't know how to fit everything else in. I only listed two FP above for each day because I had TSMM booked for both days but changed both of them today to Visit to the Maul. Darth Maul is DS's favorite character and I think he'll love it but we have H&V scheduled Saturday and they conflict and we have an 8:30 flight Sunday and I'm not sure about the timing. I called and there isn't any other H&V available. Also, he will want to meet characters and experience everything he can. I'd love for him to get to fight Darth Maul at JT.

So, I have a couple of questions. Do you think there is any way we can meet Chewie in the morning without much of a wait, do Jedi training, and still have our 9:00 D- tech one day and 8:00 breakfast the next? Any thoughts about fitting in Visit to the Maul? I'm thinking about taking a cab to the airport Sunday and trying to do it then. Any other suggestions? Thanks again for all of the help!
