Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

You mean to tell me Star Wars Weekends isn't on the week of May the Fourth? And here I was planning my next trip around that date because May the Fourth. Back to the drawing board.

The last year that they did all May dates was back in 2001, actually they only did all May weekends 2000 and 2001 then they swicthed to to June they they did half in May and half in June.

Just shocks me a bit that they don't go with the whole "May the Fourth be with you" promo.

It would be great if Disney did something again for May the 4th. The fireworks were amazing! Best firework show, imho, that I've ever seen, EVER.

We've never been during SWW time before....Is there anything special in DHS during the week or is it only on the weekends? As of right now I have our schedule to visit DHS on May 19th, which is a Monday. My kids aren't HUGE star wars buffs but I think they still might like to see some of it.

Thanks!!

SWW is just weekends. 2 years ago the carbon freeze me was also weekdays, but this past year it was just the weekends. JTA is daily.

Nothing special during the week, just the normal JTA. The merchandise tent is also only open during SWW

Finally booked our condo today! So excited. It feels more real now that the place we are staying is booked! So happy!!! This will be our first SWW

Yes the 501st and Rebel Legion take part in the Star Wars Parade but they are not able to stay, in costume, inside the park so you can't take pictures with members of these 2 groups.
They gather backstage before the parade, march, and then exit thru the Star Tours gate.
All the characters that you meet inside the park are Disney employees, they stay in character the whole time so don't even think of asking Vader to sign your autograph book with a pink pen or Aurra Sing to smile for the camera.
501st does a really great job year round with different charity groups and events.

Yay!! Once you love this event you get hooked. And who can resist Snig and Oopla's Hyperspace Hoopla :woohoo:

yes! started going for my DS when he was younger. now I think I'm more excited than he is (if not as excited lol ):rotfl2:

Okay, so I know I have issues, but I am becomming concerned about crowd leves for this thing. BEcause of my firend's scheduling, We would bee going on the weekend of the 23rd (Memorial Day weekemd, yikes!) and doing SW on Friday. Crowd levls are 8 and 9 for the weekend. Understanding that DHS will be crowded due to SWW, if I attend the most recommended parks on our other days, how much does that affect?

My other consideration is that May the 4th thing, but it looks like they didn't announce that last year until the end of April. More of a surprise thing. Honestly, the fireworks symphony sounds better than anything though, and crowds will be much lower. What are the odds of that happening again?

The crowds just have me on edge! Thanks!

The odds for May the 4th are very low. Limited Time Magic was last years theme and they have not carried it over into 2014 so I wouldn't really expect another event. But Disney is prone to making random decisions.

SWW are not really as bad as you are fearing and the parks will be at their regular attendance levels. Also you will have access to FP+ so you can schedule your few must do rides in your daily park. That should make it less stressful.

Sorry if this was answered already, but I noticed in the first post DHS is open at 8:00am?

Is that true of all Stars Wars Weekend days? It will open at 8:00am? TIA!

Ah, I did not know that. I must not have been paying attention last year as I knew nothing about it. So, expecting there to be no limited time magic this year, my choice comes down to higher crowds and SWW or just going earlier in the month. Hmmm.

Yulilin3 gets us the inside scoop.. she has access to what is called THE HUB, for disney employees.

She posted this information in the very first post on this thread:
"DHS opens from 8am to 10pm with Fantasmic! at 9pm during SWW (unofficially it opens around 7:30am)"

So that is pretty much gospel for times. I did notice last year exactly what she said about unofficial opening being about 30 minute earlier, it's because so many people get there at park opening, between those that waited for celebrity FPs and those that just are coming into the park they start letting people in (up the the rope where the show will be) just to get folks through the turnstiles.

Keep an eye on the very first post of this thread, as Yulilin3 gets info she will update it :thumbsup2

All praise Yullin  hip hip, hooray!!!!! She and many others on this board/thread were my life lines last year for my first SWW and let me tell you that is why I am back following this thread this year.... and why last year was so much fun I am going back again!

:rotfl2: I am HOOKED! :rotfl2:

Thanks so much for the detailed answer ;) If it's true DBF will be tickled pink! He loves Star Wars and I convinced him to go by playing the SWW card :rotfl: That'd be nice though to get in a little earlier especially cuz I'm the ride freak and need to get those in too!
