That's when we are going too... Is there something I should know..? :(

Not sure if the PP is talking about Gay Days, that's happening from May 28 to June 3rd...if it's that you shouldn't worry about it, Gay Day groups don't really affect SWW any more than SW fans

Id put my bets on tour groups '

And yes gay days is of no issue.. Regular folks
Enjoying the world like everyone else .. You most likely wont notice unless your directly involved with meet ups and such. .. Otherwise tour groups
Are never ending aggravation !!!!

We're going the first day of SWW, but really the only merchandise I want to get is the poster pin and the Han Carbonite vinylmation (ed size 2000). If these are the only things I want, do you think I need to get in line for this early in the morning, or will I be able to find these things later on?

Thanks!!!
Seeing how they're limited edition, yes. When the park opens, run to Darth's Mall.

Apparently during that time there is supposed to a large group of 100,000 (won't name group as NOT to start any negativity). Any tips for May 30-June 1??

If it is Gay Days crowds you are worried about then skip DHS on Friday 5/31 since DHS is the park of the day per their website.

I have seen some of the merchandise for SWW. How do you know which items will be limited edition? We will be there the last weekend so I am sure we will miss out on the LE merchandise.

Thanks!
Jackie

Ah yes, if it is that we were already aware and it seems like the crowd trackers are still claiming 4s for the days. We WILL hit HS on that friday, since it is supposed to be the day that has lighter crowds... maybe the draw will make it more crowded, or perhaps those trying to avoid it will make the crowds less... I guess we will see! :lmao:

It will be crowded regardless... just plan ahead, don't try to do everything, keep hydrated and gave fun

They use to release a merchandise list, didn't see one last year though.

Some LE stuff sells out right away and other things linger. You just never know?

Vinylmation is very popular. Some of the LE pins go quickly.

Make it 5 things. Don't forget suntan lotion. I was burnt to a crisp a week ago Monday. Now I feel like I'm molting.

See this will be our first time going in May so I thought I'd post and see what that time of the year is like and what to expect. So next thing you know I am overwhelmed with people telling me about this. NOW remember I am from Canada so we are a little more open to a lot of different cultures and ideas or lifestyles. SO I am NOT against really anything or anyone (unless they harm children and such then watch out because then I become worse than a momma bear, but that's not the point). I was more concerned with the 100,000 population rather than what the actual group is. It could be church goers or whatever. Its just that large of a population that concerned me.

When I quoted you, I was just wondering where you got the number from? I've never seen anyone say how many are expected for any special event.

I have been going to SWW since 2004. All 4 weekends are busy at DHS. With Memorial Day weekend being a bit more busy, it's a holiday, so that's to be expected. No matter which weekend, the parade route will start to fill up way before the motorcade as will the Hyperspace Hoopla area.

I know I should NOT listen to facebook....there is a page on there for Disney fans and that's what got me worried about crowds.

Other than fast passes and my usual good planning I think we'll be fine.

LOL It's a very fair concern, PrincessMom4 - I had the same concern last year for the same weekend - and I didn't care if the crowds were gay, straight, pink or purple.:goodvibes DGrD9 and I did SWW all 3 days that weekend and didn't even remember it was Gay Days until late Sunday when banner airplanes were flying over the parks with signs about it.
All 3 days were certainly crowded, but not "shoulder-to-shoulder get me out of this park" crowded. The lines for certain characters were long (Chewie, Vader, Maul, the Fab4), but we had so much fun and did absolutely everything we wanted - I think Sunday was prob the least crowded day for us.
Get to the park EARLY - they opened the gates early every day and that gave us a big head start to our days - and if the parade is important to you, get a spot early (and not in the direct sun if it's really hot) - the parade route is very short and quickly becomes mobbed. If the parade is not important but characters are, jump in line for a character then. You have plenty of FP 'runners" so you should be able to keep up with your FPs through the day while others wait in line. DGrD begged to go back this year, so we're going and even going on a holiday weekend - I know we'll have a blast. Enjoy!
The folks here on the DIS are the best at reporting back during the early weekends - you'll know all the tips by the time your weekend rolls around.:disrocks::yoda:

Not sure if this is new merchandise or just the first time it caught our eye. It's an R2-D2 cooler bag that lights up and makes sound! They also have a Darth Vader one that lights up and "breaths".

thanks for taking the pictures, those are the ones I was talking about a couple of pages back. I really want the R2D2 one, it's so cute.
It's been at Tattoine Traders for about 2 months now.

I must have missed your post. We got a R2-D2. I think this was our first time to DHS since Christmas. We usually go to Epcot or MK.
