** Official Star Wars Land Discussion Thread **

** This thread is to discuss progress on Star Wars Land, etc., that will help in planning trips to the Disneyland Resort **

So after seeing what they are doing with the train I thought I read somewhere that there is going to be a walkway to Star Wars land that starts over by like Hungry bear. I couldn't fathom how that would work but now seeing what they are doing with the train I am wondering. Does anyone "in the know" know how it is going to be laid out?

I know I read that there will be a big entrance just past Thunder mountain but I swore one of the articles said there would also be a walkway starting in Critter country. would love to know if anyone knows.

I am just curious - has Disney given any descriptions of the rides they intend to build in this land already?

The official announcement from Disney only mentioned two signature rides. Of course there could be additional rides or shows. From the parks blog, "These authentic lands will have two signature attractions, including the ability to take the controls of one of the most recognizable ships in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon, on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle."
I would think these two attractions could have height requirements of 40"+. However, 40" isn't that tall and most kids will reach the height by 4 or 5 (my oldest was 40" before she was 3).

I really hope that Malcon10t is right and there are at least three rides Carsland is crazy crowded with just one big ride and two small rides. I am hoping Star Wars land has wide walk ways and ample attractions to entertain the throngs of people who head there. As for me, I'm sure we'll try out the new rides, etc. but I'll just be glad everyone else is in Star Wars land while I enjoy Space Mountain with no wait. LOL! By the time it opens my newborn will be tall enough for most of currently existing rides.

Or they may try to open the concurrently...
This is what I would think. Open them at the same time, or at least within days of each other. No reason to open them far apart unless there is a huge hold up on one or the other. Which could happen since FL and CA have such different laws.

Many of us are curious :scratchin regarding the plans for the new Star Wars:yoda::ewok: Land that is being built at Disneyland. In order to keep the number of discussion threads at a minimum, let's use this thread for any discussion regarding the new land.

I've merged the existing threads into one thread so we can keep all discussions, conjectures, etc., all together.

Here are a couple of predictions:

1. It will not open before the year 2020. The amount of work necessary just to get to the point that they can start building is insane.

2. There will be even more work to get the park ready besides the river and railroad project. Think about Animal Kingdom and the Avatar land. They had to build a whole bunch of additional infrastructure in that park, like more restaurant capacity, to deal with the crowds they expect Avatar to generate. Star Wars will be an even bigger crowd generator, and DL is way more overwhelmed than AK ever was. The parking situation alone is a nightmare that Disney would be crazy not to fix before opening the land.

3. The new land will be compared to the Harry Potter lands at Universal, and it will come up short. When Star Wars Land finally opens, people will complain about the crowds and the missed opportunity to do it right.

LMAO! Probably true. And will still be complaining about the demise that had to take place to begin with, for a non original Disney entity to be built. Not everyone is a huge fan of Star Wars or even likes it for that matter.
Am I chewing sour grapes? You betcha mate! :faint:

There will always be the complainers - and for them I feel sorry - complaining is not a lot of fun - I prefer to be happy when I go to Disney... pixiedust: and like to admit or not, but being happy is a choice!

Sort of what I was expecting. I somehow envisioned more attractions in the new land, but it will still be good, I think. I'm still holding out hope for an expanded Fantasyland someday.

How EXCITING! If the picture is somewhat to scale, it looks like Star Wars land will be pretty big.

It looks HUGE....but with only 2 attractions??? I heard the 3rd one was scrapped due to the budget.

I don't see the surprise in the lack of many rides. Carsland is really only one big ride, with a few little side features. My real question is will they eventually move Star Tours to the new land?

I really wish they would put more than just 2 attractions in this land...the area is so large!

They have an expansion pad next to ToonTown for another attraction sometime in the future

Keep in mind it looks huge, but it was overlaid on top of a park map which does not show ride buildings. But the SW land does show ride buildings which makes the comparison look pretty bad. Once you look at a satellite image and see the other show buildings (Pirates, IASW, IJ, HM) it looks similar in terms of attraction density.
