Does anyone know what the limits will be for the rides in the new land? I am assuming from the descriptions that little kids will not be able to ride anything in this new land.

What descriptions are you reading, and why are you assuming this? My thoughts are this will have 3 rides, 1 will be a 40 - 46", while the other 2 will be more like 32". Disney wants families to head back there. Parents don't spend money if their kids aren't there. Look at Paradise Pier area, 1 big ride, several for kids and spending areas, Cars Land, 3 rides, 1 for big kids, the rest for families....

Now, bigger questions, will they have Jawas roaming? I sure hope so!

I have to agree with Malcon10t here... I can't imagine they would make non-family-friendly rides in that area. Sure, maybe not "baby" rides (ie, Small World, Pooh, Bugs Land, etc), but as Malcon10t points out, parents aren't going to go back there and spend time (and, therefore, money) if it's an "adults only" type space. I'd expect one "e-ticket" ride with a higher height limit (42-48"?), and the others to be largely family-friendly.

I agree with this also. DLR is first and foremost a family park. I can't imagine not having any rides for the little ones. IF (huge IF) it were to happen, Disney will have disappointed more than words can say ...

Star Wars land is how many years away from opening? I think it's way too early to worry about height limits - if anything whatever children you are worried about being able to ride there will have a few years to grow to that height before it's a concern.

It seems people are thinking that it is only 18 months or so because that is how long the river/train is likely to do be down. When in reality it is at least twice that based on Cars land taking 3 years from ground break to open.

Thanks to all of you for your kind answers. I guess I assumed it would be more for adults when I read the descriptions for some of the rides.

This is what "gets" me.... Cars Land was built in 3 years from initial, official announcement, over a parking lot (i.e., minor demolition needed). I'd be shocked if SWL was able to open in the short 18-month time frame some people seem to be thinking. Big Thunder Ranch and all closed today. There's a ton of moving/demolition that needs to occur to the areas before trains and rivers can be re-routed so that construction can begin. I just can't see an 18-month time frame. I mean, I believe in magic and pixie dust, but even that's a stretch for this instance ;)

Honestly, I expect it to be like BTMRR's continual refurb updates that just kept pushing its opening date back further and further... Someone somewhere said "they" think 18 months, and then it will be 2 years, then 2.5 years, then 3 years, then we'll be given an opening date that ends up about 3.5 years after the initial, official announcement of the land.

And let's be fair... We heard 2015 for the opening of SWL in 2012 ;) so I'm not holding my breath.

So will the ROA and the train be closed for the entire time?
We don't know and Disney probably doesn't know. All they've said is that they'll be closed for at least a year with no reopening timeframe and no opening date for SW has been announced either.

At this point, DLR has only said that the RoA and Train will be closed for more than a year, but most guesses seem to think it'll re-open at some point in early-to-mid 2017. From what I've read, they're closing those as part of the prep/ground work that needs to be done, so that once that part of the process if finished, those will re-open. So, I do think that they'll re-open well before Star Wars Land itself opens, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were intermittent closures of those and other areas as they build the new land.

Not that this has any information about dates, but a tiny bit of information about some of the changes coming for the railroad and RoA.

People are also forgetting that a chunk of SW land can't even begin until the railroad is rerouted and they redo rivers of America. They can do some preliminary work, but you really won't see the meat and potatoes of this until after the railroad and rivers of america are finished. I'd say Spring/Summer 2020 is a decent bet of when SW Land will open, but I wouldn't also be shocked if it's 2021 or 2022 for that matter.

I recall reading that when the Gate Tax Ban was extended back in July, DLR agreed to complete expansion of the theme parks within the next 7-years (they didn't specify the details of the expansion). So I would guess (and it's just a guess), that the 7-year mark was the outside estimate of when Star Wars Land could be completed by. Basically, as T0rrent says, that the target is probably somewhere around summer of 2020, but they wanted to give themselves some buffer room in case of delays.

I'm thinking 18 mos is a better target for some of the existing attractions to reopen, if they are done with the refurbishment/remodeling of the northern section of the Rivers of America, and that it will take longer for Star Wars Land to open.

I am just curious - has Disney given any descriptions of the rides they intend to build in this land already?

At the start, I thought that the WDW Studios version would be able to open first, because they were already closing rides there. But now it looks like they have lots of work there too, new parking lots and entrances, among other things. But it still seems like the FL version has less obstacles to overcome to get moving. It will be interesting to see which gets to open first.

I haven't seen much in the way of any official information (aside from the very general stuff when it was first announced). There was a recent bit about a possible boat ride.

Or they may try to open the concurrently...

A boat ride? Seriously? There were all of zero boats in Star Wars. Oh my. Of course one has to remember by the time this land opens we'll likely be waiting for Episode 10 to come out...maybe there will be boats in upcoming movies.
