Official Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend - The Dark Side 2017

I woke up this morning not feeling great, then realized it was fastpass day and I hadn't set an alarm to remind myself. It was easy to get what we were looking for - more so than our other recent trips. So glad the dessert party opened, too.

I felt the same way - while we didn't really need FP for the hard to get stuff (Frozen, 7DMT, etc), I was surprised at how many times were available for all of them. Granted - I forgot about my fastpass day for my trip in September until later in the day (GASP, i know! lol) so by that time most things were gone. I wonder if that's why they made the change from available at midnight to available at 7am EST.

I was so surprised how much availability there was for Frozen. I wonder if it's easier because it's just DH and I so we are just looking for two.

And LOL about forgetting. I woke up at 6:45 and remembered it was fastpass day, and didn't have any idea what I wanted. Ha!

Just made all of our fastpasses this morning as well. Got everything we were looking for and will be seeing ROL on Friday night. Will be our first time riding 7DMT and FEA after we couldn't get FP+ during our January trip. Just have to figure out where to eat on Saturday.

I'm so glad to see that they extended out the times for the Star Wars fireworks through the rest of April. Deep down I figured they'd continue, since it would be weird to end them during a time when Star Wars fans will be around for different events, but you just never know with Disney and what may happen at any given time. But I'm excited to officially have that time down now. I'll plan to try to see them on Thursday night.

And add me to the list of places getting the extremely warm, unseasonable temperatures. We've not only broken high temperature records the past couple days, but surpassed them by 10 degrees or so. And it's supposed to continue until at least Wednesday. Quite honestly, I'm not a fan of it though. It's a bit worrisome to me. Unusually warm weather happens, but this is going to be basically a week straight of it.

I went for a run this morning, just a quick one as I had to get to church, but wanted to take advantage of warmer temps. (During the week I run at the gym on the treadmill so I have childcare.) It was so beautiful out! Probably around 50 when I went for my run in a TANK TOP and skirt in February!!!!!! So nice!

I just don't know how to squeeze in the Star Wars fireworks with so many early mornings. :( I wish I had one more day, but sadly that's not an option for this trip!

Today was our opening to make Fast Passes and had no problems whatsoever getting what we wanted. DS and his DGF were also able to "piggyback" and get their Fast Passes within a five minute window on the rides they wanted to do with us. (This was about an hour later when I text and reminded them.) I'm taking everyone's ability to choose what they wish for Fast Passes, warm temps for great running conditions, and all the extended fireworks shows that Spring is on the way and everyone will have an awesome run(s) during SWDS weekend!

I also made my fast pass reservations for the entire week this morning. The only ride I couldn't get the time I wanted was an evening ride on Everest, but since that has single rider, no issues for me. I also tentatively booked the dessert party for Monday night after the 1/2. I hope to cancel the dessert party after I get the guided tour, but until the guided tour opens up, I know that I have the dessert party.

And not related to race weekend, but to Star Wars, I bought tickets for the VIP Triples Alley Experience for Star Wars Day with the San Francisco Giants in September.

Ok is it bad that I still can't decide what parks to do what day and can't decide on fastpasses. So I arrive on Wednesday. I get in around 5. I figure I will make it to the hotel around 7 and can hit MK. I have a FP for 7DMT and Space and figure I will see the fireworks. I am thinking most people will leave after that and I can hit thunder and maybe haunted. And of coarse my favorite people mover. How long should I plan for expo? Anyway Thursday o was thinking expo and then I got FP for ROL, Dinosaur, Kali. I was thinking single rider for expedition. I am up in the air for Friday but I do currently have frozen. Saturday I did TOT but now that Star Wars fireworks is open I switched to that on Sunday. And was thinking of moving frozen to Saturday and maybe doing some more MK Friday or other Epcot friday. I still have Monday to figure out. And since I am doing Dessert party now for Star Wars Sunday anyone else going to this? I'm doing Epcot illuminations Monday. Any suggestions? I am wondering about a tour?

I'm telling you solo planning is much harder then family planning.

The reservation date just suddenly snuck up on me. For so long now, it was in February and suddenly this past week I realized that it was today.

So while I'm still figuring out my touring plans, I did get my FP+ reservations. All the ones I wanted and pretty close to the times I wanted them. Now in a couple of days, I'll start inserting them into my touring plans (ding!) and making the necessary adjustments.

Finally hit my fastpass window this morning and much like everyone else had no problem getting what I wanted. Main thing was ROL and happy that was available for Sunday night. Couldn't get a fastpass for Soarin' though because of that annoying can't make fastpasses at multiple parks on the same day deal. But oh well can't really complain too much. :)

In the first of what will surely be many Fastpass shifts over the next 59 days, I decided to see if I could shift our Frozen FP up a couple of hours. There still appears to be A TON of availability for that day. Granted, it is for Saturday so today and tomorrow's FP bookings could change that, but still!

The good thing about solo planning though is it's always easier to make adjustments since you only have to worry about yourself. :) I just signed up for the dessert party too but I'm going Friday night. I think a tour would be a good way to fill in some time on a day you didn't have a bunch planned. I've always wanted to do the Wild Africa Trek or the Keys to the Kingdom tour.

I haven't gone Wild Africa Trek but a few years ago my Mom and I did the less expensive AK one- they've changed the name of it since we did it so I'm not sure what it's called now. We REALLY enjoyed it.

I've already adjusted some of ours too, which I'm sure they'll change again even when down there.
Maybe all the Easter crowds will be headed out by the time we all arrive, one can hope anyway :)

Random question here - and it's probably been answered somewhere else on these boards, so sorry in advance. Here goes, where can one buy mylar "blankets" to keep warm with before Disney runs, and will TSA have issues with them in checked luggage?

I know for sure that you can get them on Amazon. I'd also think that they would be available in the camping/hunting/outdoor section of a sporting goods store, but am not positive on that. I don't think TSA would have an issue with them, but maybe someone else can confirm that part.

I've never had issues with them in my luggage and I've been carting them around the country for a while now. I normally just save my old ones from races, however light side was my last race and they were no longer giving them out after the half when I finished. I will pack a trash bag or two, but I'm also thinking it will be warm enough we won't need them.
