Official Star Wars Half Marathon Thread...Jan 15-18th, 2015!!

I've been hemming and hawing over whether to book our stay at the AnaBella for Star Wars because it is a tad more expensive than other hotels on Katella and I've read mixed reviews (also the $15 parking per night is pretty steep for a 4-night stay). I knew with my first Disney 5k, 10k, and half I'd want to be walking distance from the starting line :D

But with the release of the medals and the many Avengers posts I've seen on Instagram and Twitter I figured I'd better get a move on!! :rotfl:

I've booked it and I'm so excited!! Hopefully we get one of the newer rooms with wood flooring!

Congrats on booking your hotel!! With everyday that goes by this trip gets more and more real from registration to hotel and ticket booking to costume ideas to dining reservations and the training! I def can't wait till this trip!'

Just finished Avengers sunday and it was so fun despite the wind ending the post race celebrations early. They had what seemed liked over 100 cosplayers in various marvel get-up's along the river trail wich added that much more to the race atmosphere. If disney can get the 501st watch out! oh man i can imagine what that would look like....anyway seemed like half the field was in costume, so my home work is to watch all six films and get an idea of what I will be in the next week....glad to be on board

If anyone still needs to book their airfare, Jet Blue has a promo code WINTER14 that will get you up to 20% off!

Has anyone participated in the pre race parties like pasta in the park? I wanted to know if it's really worth it....I'm on the fence on getting the Wookie party. Party or a new pair of shoes.....hmmmm

We did the pasta in the park for our first race... it was not worth it to us. There is much better food in the park, and we don't want to stuff ourselves before the run so it didn't work out well. We went in, had a little cold mediocre pasta, a tiny bit of salad and a couple small pastry desserts and that was it. They had a stage set up but didn't use it beyond asking the legacy runners to stand up so we could applaude them and wishing us luck. We all kept waiting for something - anything - to happen but nothing did. They had Mickey and Minnie rotate out in the corner for pics in their running gear and once we had finished eating and waiting for a good long while we gave up on anything interesting and left. :confused3 Its expensive for such a limited buffet without pomp and circumstance or at least some entertainment!

And the Wookie party doesn't even include dinner! We signed up and I'll have fun no matter what, but I'm not optimistic it will be necessarily worth the money.

Oh I did not know that!! Surely they upped their game on that front then. The funny thing is at the time I was much more interested in everything BUT the food! :lmao:

I'm wondering about this too. The only other RunDisney race that I've run is the TOT 10 mile, and they have an after party which I love. Most of DHS open, lots of villains out to meet.

I wonder how many characters will be out for the Wookie party. Everyone from the Avengers race talked about how long character lines were for their race, so I'm expecting the same for ours. Even though I've met almost every character I could think of at SWW at WDW, I'd still like to be able to meet some.

This will be the first race I've done at Disneyland and I'm wondering if those who have done races there can help me with park tickets. My friend and I are flying in on Wednesday the 14th and flying home on Monday the 19th. We are looking for 5 day hoppers. Where is the best/cheapest place to get them? Thanks!

Check out Get Travel; they do discounted park tix for the races. If you're going into the parks on Wed, you might need them mailed, b/c they do tix pick up at the expo. They usually have a morning pick up before the expo on Thurs if the expo doesn't open until 12, so you might want to double check the site or give a call just to make sure.

Is there a thread somewhere talking about where to make hotel reservations for this (non disney hotels). I'm so behind on the planning for this, I don't expect to find any deals, but just an idea of some of the hotels that people are staying at that offer shuttle service? Is there another thread somewhere?

I'm not sure about a thread but Get Travel is still providing discounted hotel rates.

Acclaim Travel sent out an email about still having rooms for GC and DLH today.

I dont think theres another thread as PP said. Look further up in this thread and I'm sure theres some discussion about hotels we're staying at. I know lots of runners stay at Best Western Stovalls. I stayed at Hojo for Avengers and they offer a runners discount if you call them directly 714.776.6120.
Heres a link to the Tink program. Page 20 lists the hotels that the ART shuttle will stop at. Thats the free shuttle for the weekend.

Stopped in at the RunDisney booth at the Rock & Roll Marathon & 1/2 expo tonight in San Antonio, TX to check out these medals in person. They are so incredible! Made it seem even more real that I'll be there next month to earn them. The lady running the booth also noticed my Disney Dooney & Bourke bag and told me to keep my eyes peeled for an announcement in the coming weeks about a Star Wars print bag coming out.

Just an FYI, while I was debating on the Wookie Party & seeing how much it cost, I noticed they are pre selling the Dooney & Burke Purses now on Active for race registrations.

Shopper = 321.84
Satchel = 289.44
Crossbody = 203.04

Sorry for the smallest pictures ever but this is what is shown on the Active Registration:

We unexpectedly moved this year and I didn't train. I didn't want to move and am not happy about it, which is (I suspect) the reason why I didn't train. :guilty:

Anyway, is there any way to sell your bib without meeting the purchaser at the expo?

Others will chime in but since the new pickup policy, shy of a fake id I don't believe there is another way
