um, have you met Star Wars fans? Plus with all the stuff they are pushing with the app and stuff seems like they want to provide things to keep you busy for a long time in the land beyond the attraction(s) ..... but maybe they are just saying this to further motivate people to not plan to stay longer than their time slot

I hope so. That would be horrible to try and rush people out. Not only can’t I picture them cattle herding people out, but I also I can’t imagine people going quietly lol

very similar to what they did with Pandora previews. We got a time slot to ride FoP and NRJ but then were allowed to stay in the land, just weren't able to ride again. Now if they are not clearing everyone between time slots that will make the "clearing if the land is too crowded" very difficult

unless I am mistaken, the way I saw timeslots listed it seemed like they overlapped - like some people have 10am to 2pm and others have 12noon to 4pm - so I don't think they can do a full clear out

Guess they are hoping people will head out when they find they can't interact with anything or go in the shops, etc. - but still won't there be all the stuff on the app to do around the land and just take photos and stuff? Maybe at some point they will say "ok, getting too crowded and those with green colored bands are 2 hours past their time slot so if you see any remind them of this and motivate them to leave" - but not sure how that will work

- The goal is to keep the wait times for Smugglers Run under two hours, Theiler said. Accommodations will be made if the attraction should experience any downtime

- The wait time for Smugglers Run will balloon if everybody entering Galaxy’s Edge heads straight for the attraction. Disney hopes to disperse visitors throughout the land during the reservation-only period and persuade riders to postpone their journey on Smugglers Run until the second or third hour of their visit when wait times will be less. I am taking my time, I'm sorry I'm not hurrying to do things (except MFSR) I want to see every nook and cranny, takes hundreds of pictures, explore each store, try every restaurant and Cantina and play the Disney app
The only way to avoid everyone going to MFSR would be to give time slots to ride. So let's say reservations from 10am to 2pm, they will divide people and give them time slots to enter the queue. This would work more efficiently

agreed about needing to give time slots for when to do the MFSR. Perhaps just hand out when people queue up for their time slot (perhaps another reason they are allowing the camp out for the first day even given the reservation system - to ensure everyone knows how it will work and hand out these ride timeslots, etc.

Right, the time slots overlap, so they cannot do a full clearout. As far as I could tell, the first and last timeslots of the day are the only ones that only overlap on one end, not both. That's why I got the earliest one for each of our two reservations. 8 am for both. From what I remember seeing, 8-12; 11-3; 2-6; 5-9; 8-12. So, the middle three time slots only get 2 hours alone, 1 hour with the prior group and 1 hour with the following group. Those lagging after their time might need to be escorted out really absolutely no more than 30-45 minutes later, because there can be LOTS of extra congestion in those middle time slots, and it really would deprive those groups of at least some "lighter" crowd experience.

yeah, if there are people in the slot that ends at 3pm still there when the group that starts at 5pm comes in, that is 3 groups overlapping, would be a lot

Virtual Queue details for Disneyland

"According to a post by the OC Register, guests will log in to the Disneyland app and secure their “boarding pass” to enter the land. At rope drop, guests will be able to walk directly into the land until it is full. A status bar in the app will show how full the land is at any given time. When it fills to capacity, the option to secure your boarding pass will pop up. After guests secure the pass, Disney will send a push notification to their phone when it is their turn. Guests will then have two hours to return to the land entrance to redeem their pass.

Disney hasn’t stated how long the virtual queue system will be in place for, simply stating that they will stop using it when the crowds die down and there is no longer a need for it. Disneyland is implementing this virtual queue so guests can continue to enjoy the park without the need to stand in line for Galaxy’s Edge all day."

I know no one can predict the future but you seem to have a really good handle on how Disney has handled opening crowds in the past (whether Pandora/TSL) would you say that it would be a safe bet to be there at 4:30 a.m. for 6:00 a.m. EMH on the last EMH date (as of now) of 11/2? Trying to mentally prepare ourselves for this.

Yeah you should be fine on 11/2 being there at 4:30. You probably won't be the first on the ride or anything but you'll get in the land.

The only thing that concerns me about the joke of stormtroopers helping move people along when their timeslot is over, is that some people will actually want that "experience" and do it on purpose.

FALCON GROUPING: Like stated before, everyone is handed a card. But now I learned the cockpit positions are upside down and cannot be seen by the CM. CMs quickly/anonymously hand out 6 at a time and you flip over your card to reveal what position you got. YOU CAN TRADE.. its just all up to your family.. you dispute and fight amongst each other. The cast is not held responsible.

GUNNER POSITION: 3 friends have all now said that the gunner position wasn't their favorite.
-One said that the buttons are placed at such a weird angle that it was difficult to watch the show and simultaneously push the correct flashing buttons
-Another said that the position was just boring and wasn't nearly as fun as the pilot position
-The last CM actually said she preferred the engineer position more than gunner bc there were more things to do. (This CM is tall and also stated that she didn't have a hard time seeing from the back)

SAVI'S WORKSHOP: So while one of my CM friends was exploring, another approached his group and asked if they wanted to build a lightsaber. They said yes and got pulled into Savi's to test the experience. The workshop was rehearsing show material and needed "guests" to participate in order to test and adjust. He said he did the entire experience and was blown away. He even got emotional throughout the experience. He said the experience really tugs at your heart and makes Star Wars fans feel like they're a part of something special. They hand built their custom lightsabers with eager grins to only have them taken after the experience. Nothing is free at Disney, folks. At the end, he said he would go back and pay $$$$ bc it was really that great.


CONCLUSION: I've received a lot of mixed reviews about falcon.. But through them all, I've concluded that your ride experience really just depends on how your group contributes... If you have great pilots and gunners, the engineer position could be boring with nothing to fix.. You could have an amazing time as an engineer if you're tall, can see the screen, and have crappy pilots that make you fix a lot of things.

What I thought was most interesting about the news regarding colored wrist bands, is that they still have resort openings available for folks that were too late to get a reservation. I thought all the resorts where booked up?

I only hear booked up for opening weekend. I also suspect that with the reservations some people that booked resorts for certainty canceled once they got reservations when offered on 5/2.

I do think they are putting this out there to reinforce the time frame of 4 hours. And I guess you could say it's a reasonable time period, since they want as many as possible to enjoy the opening. It seems fair to me. Whether or not die hard fans agree, who knows.
