**Official** Sept 20-27th Support Group Thread!

We ate at MM for the Fantasmic Package, but I don't think it was that important to get good seats. And the walk to the reserved seating is loonnnnnng  But the restaurant was good, we enjoyed ourselves. This time our dinner ADR for HS is at PT 50's, think it should be fun. Oh, and before we left, we dropped in to Sci Fi (before they closed, but the place wasn't crowded at all) and got some "grown up" shakes...I got a Marsha's Martian - chocolate and vanilla shake with Bailey's Irish Cream and Kahlua, WOW! And we got to check out the cool atmosphere...9/22 is our HS day because of those all-important EMH, so maybe we'll see you there! :sail: :

I keep forgetting MGM is now HS. I noticed that you are at HS the same day as me. Let the stalking begin ;) Do you wear a lime green mickey paint chip or should I just go up to random strangers asking if they are Katiebell? :rolleyes1 Just teasing!

Thanks for the parade schedule. Spectromagic is my favorite parade, definitely a must see. I also love the idea of the grown-up shake. I might try that too because I am curious on what the Sci-Fi restaurant looks like on the inside.

My DH recently sto...uh...pilfe....um....acquired a stack of LGMHPC's  So yeah, we should have them attached to us somewhere. Last May I was posting with a bunch of folks going in May, and ran into a couple of them :) We even made a door sign for our room, so people would know there were fellow DIS'ers staying there. :thumbsup2 I will try to figure out how to post a pic of DH and me on here, probably from our trip last year. I'll look different this year, though because I've decided to cut my hair (probably this weekend) and donate it...so it will be a LOT shorter! But my silly face will be the same :p

We missed Spectromagic last year, so I definitely don't want to miss it this year. I love the Main Street Electrical Parade at DCA, so I imagine this will have somewhat the same "feel". Sci Fi was cool and very atmosphere-y (I know, that isn't a real word...) We loved sitting in a car, and the shakes were mmmmmmmmmmmmmm... And the film clips were hilarious, I love old monster/sci fi movies. If you don't have an ADR here, just try stopping after the regular dinner time, and see if you can get in. I think we went there like...10:00? But I don't remember the exact time. Well, it was after Fantasmic, so it must have been around that time, or maybe even 10:30. Not sure what time they close though.

I'll be there Sept 19-26! DH and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary on the 26th!

ETA, I was recognized by a fellow DIS-er on my last two trips. I still look just like the picture in my signature and I usually wear that Chip & Dale shirt every trip! Although, I did recently get new glasses with transitions lenses, so I might look a tiny bit different...

Congratulations on your anniversary! We just celebrated our 8th. I will be on the look out for your Chip & Dale shirt, since we'll be there the exact same days as you!

We'll be there 9/19-9/27. We were planning on going in September with a bounceback promotion from earlier this year but when I found out about free dining, we couldn't pass it up since it saved us more money (and we were doing DDP anyway)! :woohoo:

I made our ADR's at about 175 days and got almost everything I wanted. Here's our schedule:
9/20 Princess Storybook lunch, Coral Reef dinner
9/21 Mama Melrose with Fantasmic package
9/23 Crystal Palace breakfast (and currently dinner but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it). We are going to MNSSHP that night, too.
9/24 O'hana breakfast and Plaza dinner
9/25 LeCellier lunch, Tutto Italia dinner
9/26 LTT lunch, Chef Mickey's dinner

I can't wait!

Thanks for starting the thread! :goodvibes

Hey,
I'll be with everyone at pop! Sept 20th-30th. I'm working all summer long, so the time will fly bye.

Woohoo!
We have finally officially booked our 3d trip.
Sept 20-29 All Star Movies - Free Dining and hopefully MNSSHP as well!
See you all there!

What's everyone doing about airfare?

Southwest hasn't posted their rates for those dates yet, but with all the hubbub on the news about bankruptcies and cancellations and FAA maintenance schedules and the horrible price of oil, I'm starting to get worried about affordable tickets.

Especially since everything Disney-related is already booked!

:scared:

Actually SW did post for those dates. And there is a 15% ding off the rates for round trip fares. We got $81 each way from MHT. Paid $79 each way last december so we grabbed it.

Ahh, thanks for the info!

I get the SW deals email newsletter and it's said "accepting bookings through Aug 22." for months now.

I'm gonna try to get one of our tickets paid for with Credit card points, and buy the other ticket to match. Does anyone know if Southwest is still doing open seating, or if you get seat #s with your confirmations now?

Still open seating and the code for the discount is DING15. But hurry - it's only valid until 4/21. I was a bit concerned about airfare with all the news lately but we got really good rates! :cool1:

I'm stealing me some free dining too! I'm going the 20th to 29th so I can squeeze in Food and Wine. MORE FOOD, just what I need. I'm waiting for a good flight too, in fact I'm going to check Soutwest site right now.

I booked my flight last night with Airtran, $268 for two round trip no stops ( I really hate stopovers!) I was really trying to convince myself flying is not bad, until about 5 min's ago when I read an article online (AOL) about how planes are flying with less fuel. Greaaaaat.

Hi Everyone!!! I don't think Sept will ever get here!:)

We are staying @ Pop 9/26-10/5. Please tell me that my son will love it! He is the reason we decided to change from CBR(our fav). I can't wait to try out F&W. We were there the first few days for it last year, but didn't spend enough time to take it all in. We mostly tried out the refreshments.

Dining is finally in place after several phone calls to switch things around & add. We are about split with new places & our favs.

Teppan Edo-dinner
Play & Dine -lunch
Whispering Canyon-dinner
Sci Fi-dinner
Tusker House x2 - breakfast
Biergarten-dinner
Coral Reef-lunch
Ohana-dinner
Crystal Palace-breakfast (8:05am yea!!!)
Boma-dinner
Chef Mickey-breakfast
LeCellier x2-dinner
Ohana-breakfast
Tutto Italia-dinner

What can everyone tell me about WC, Sci-Fi, Tusker House, Ohana dinner, Boma, & Tutto Italia?? I am interested in the good & the not so good. ;)

Now that my dining is done, I just need to plan what we are going to be doing when we are not eating!:lmao:

I think it will depend on how old your son is regardng POP. I took my DS there and was really getting a kick out of the resort until he started asking what PacMan was and what 8 tracks were. Made me feel old!!! :scared1: I'm staying at POP too, but can't say I'm really looking forward to it. Now he does it just to rip on me. :rotfl2:

I haven't eaten at all the places your going, but WC is good (they got rid of the nacho app., I'm sorry to say, which was awesome), but you'll have fun. AllEarsNet.com gives a lot of good tips to have fun with your server.

For Sci Fi, I've been there three times (I say I won't go back but then give it another try every couple years), but I can't say that I have ever gotten good food or service there. Of course, this is just my experience, a lot of other people on this board love the place. You'll get about a million different opinions when it comes to restaurants. popcorn::

Hi LuvMickey36!

Whispering Canyon is definitely fun and the food is generally quite good. I'm with FanOfStitch on Sci-Fi - we keep saying we aren't going back because the food isn't that great but we just LOVE the concept of the restaurant. :confused3 This Sept we have one in our party who has never been to Sci-Fi so I'm trying to decide if we'll give it a shot or just maybe try to sneak in at an off time for a dessert. I'm trying out Boma and Tutto Italia next week for the first time and I'll definitely report back here when I return. Looking forward to others' feedback also.

How old is your son? Even if he isn't familiar with some of the Pop icons, the cartoony feel of it will probably appeal to him. Kids in general seem to like these resorts. Plus, you'll be at Disney - what's not to love?

Thanks Everyone for some answers!!!

My ds is 5. We noticed when we were there in Sept. that he enjoyed himself @ CBR(the pink hotel is what he calls it :) ), but it was not really a "fun" resort for kids. KWIM?? Pop just looks to be a great place for kids to relax & have fun. The pools & theming rock! I am just hesitant to change. My dh & I love, love, love CBR, but think ds will have a better time @ Pop. That is our main concern, to make sure he is happy. :thumbsup2

I have heard all the good & bad about Sci-Fi, but again, I think ds will like it. Sitting in the cars sounds so cool! Even if the food is not so hot, we will still have fun!

Your right, we will be @ disney so all will be right with the world!

DH and I will be there with my aunt Sept. 20-24 at All-Star Music. In addition to our free dining ADRs we are spending some points we earned on our Disney Visa to get more free meals.

ADRs at:
*Crystal Palace character breakfast
*Boma
*'Ohana
*Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater (may end up having milkshakes only here)
*Grand Floridian Cafe
*Chefs de France

For counter service we're thinking:
*Pecos Bill's
*Yakitori House or Sunshine Seasons
*Kringla bakeri og kafe
*Toy Story Pizza Planet or ABC Commissary

Hi everyone!! :goodvibes

Myself, my DH, DD who will be 13 months at the time, sister, bil and 8 month old nephew are going from September 20-26. We will being staying at POP for the first time! My sister and her family decided to stay at POR.

We are going because we love Disney and need a great vacation and to celebrate my 30th birthday!

ADR's I have booked so far
Coral Reef
Crystal Palace - Dinner w/ the characters
Le Cellier
Mama Melrose
And on my birthday, we will be ding at CRT!!

I am so excited! :yay:

We will be there Sept. 19th to the 28th. POR. Family of 5 DH, DS turning 5 that week, DD 3 and DD 17 months. First vacation in 8 years. Obviously first trip for all the kids. My son just keeps talking about it all the time. Wanted to watch you tube the other night to see rides. He really doesn't know what Disney is, just that it has rides, it is a great place and other kids seem to love it. I went a lot as a kid - very excited to share the experience.

To anyone still needing to do ADR's for that time, I was looking to change something and it seems like things are really booking up, so I suggest do them now..

Our trip is Sept 19-28 at Pop Century. My husband and I wll also be celebrating our 3 year anniversary one month early. His parents, brother and three of our friends will be joining us, so we get to be a grand gathering. Unfortunately, we were unable to get the Grand Gathering Breakfast at Tony's Town Square. Guess we waited too long.
Here are our ADR - thanks to our good friend and Mouse Made Simple rep!

Sci-Fi Dine In
Cinderella's RT (breakfast)
Crystal Palace
Boma
Biergarten (or Le Cellier - can't decide!)
Coral Reef
Chef Mickey's (breakfast)
Tony's Town
1900 Park Faire
Spirit of Aloha

and of course, MNSSH on the 26th.
