I emailed Disney regarding the possibility of trading in (4) new, single day tickets towards the purchase of (1) multiday ticket. This is the response I received:

"We appreciate your recent ticket inquiry.

Generally, it is possible to have the value of unused days on
previously
purchased admission tickets (with no printed expiration date) credited
toward the purchase of new multi-day ticket media. Regrettably,
however, it is only possible for a specific determination to be made,
and the exact credit value determined, when the tickets are presented
in
person at any Walt Disney World® Guest Relations location. The
representative you speak with at that time will be happy to evaluate
your situation, explain your options and complete the appropriate
transaction.

We hope this information is helpful, and we look forward to future
opportunities to entertain you."

It appears that they don't have a standard policy one way or the other and it is left entirely to the discretion of the individual working at Guest Relations when I show up. So, has anybody EVER successfully traded in more than one ticket and been able to have the cash value applied to the purchase of (1) new ticket?

What it says is, you have to go in person for them to tell you what your options are. They can't tell you by your email. It doesn't say it's at the discretion of Guest Relations, but is dependent on the tickets you have that they actually see in person. This reads like an answer that is a form answer for questions about the value of trading in tickets. The policy obviously is to see the tickets in person, verify their value and go from there based on the type of ticket and the value left.

There is no way they COULDN"T tell what type of tickets I had when I sent the email. I was very clear that we would be "buying single day tickets for each member of our group as required to participate in the dining plan." The email indicated the dates we were arriving, where we were staying and exactly what type of ticket we would be upgrading to, or apply the cash value to.

I think you misunderstood bdcp's message. What the message from Disney was saying is that they'd have to evaluate each physical piece of admission media you present to them, for validity and for residual value, based on the electronic records that they have on-site, before they can give you a definitive reply about what they can offer you in terms of applicable value towards the purchase of new admission media. Specifically, remember that they said, "it is possible to have the value of unused days on previously purchased admission tickets (with no printed expiration date) credited toward the purchase of new multi-day ticket media." What they regret is, that without having the actual passes in their hands, where they can inspect them for validity and then run them through their electronic systems, they cannot tell you what is the precise residual value of the passes you personally happen to hold right now.

I hope that helps clear it up for you.

Not really. Naturally, any credit given would be based on the tickets being valid, and as I told them in the email, these are not tickets I actually possess now, they would be purchased through Disney as part of a vacation package. They were well aware that I would ONLY be purchasing the tickets, if I could be assured in advance that I would be able to exchange them for the single multiday I needed. They have no need to worry about value or validity, because they know they are coming directly from them the same day I make the exchange! As a matter of fact, I had planned to ask the resort for a certificate for the tickets, as opposed to an actual paper ticket. Besides which, if you can't exchange more than one ticket per transaction, the validity or cash value of the tickets is really irrelevant, since it has no bearing on my question. The simple question was: "Can I exchange 4 single day, base tickets for 1 multiday ticket." I didn't ask them to guarantee how much my tickets were worth, just if I could exchange more than one at a time! It's a yes or no answer!

The tix on the MYW--I assume have an expiration....b/c can't you just use them during the trip? If so, then the liklihood of upgrading them diminishes--though it is possible.

I agree your best bet is for someone else to post their experience with the same issue.

And you are right Faye - it SHOULD be a simple yes or no answer. But it is DISNEY that you are talking to here. They do not want to upset you and so, using what Golden Oldie refers to as "Disneyspeak", they are telling you to bring your tickets with you, have them looked at, and they will tell you then AFTER they see EXACTLY what you have.

No matter what Disney is telling you, based on everyone's experiences that I have read on these boards and various other Disney sites and based upon those whose answers I completely trust, I would NOT expect you to be able to combine your one day tickets into a multiday ticket. But if for some strange reason Disney did make it happen, just consider it a sprinkle of Pixie Dust! :wizard:
