Official Poly construction update thread **updated video page 103(2/17/15)**

Does anyone know if/when Captain Cooks is opening back up in the regular location? I didn't see that info anywhere.

Tikiman's F/B page has an update from this morning, it's saying "almost September or in September" for the new Captain Cooks permanent location.

Im so torn, for my trip we are staying at the CR, BLV, but I can get Poly, Theme Park Club Level for about 350 more. Have always wanted to stay there, just can't decide if I should wait or do it!!! How is the Hawaii building impacted by all the construction, I know the main pool is closed, but once in the room will we notice?

When are you going? We are staying in Hawaii building starting August 8th. I could let you know, if that isn't too late.

I am going 11/21-11/26. I don't know my way around enough to figure out where the DVC is going, where the pool is in its entirety or the GCH construction! I have been basically studying Tikimans facebook page trying to comprehend!!! ;)

Nevermind, wrong thread.

I will be there club level too Nov 20-26! From the map on Tikiman's page, Hawaii (club level building) faces the lagoon and the backside faces the quiet pool unless you booked a club suite. That's an entirely different building. So, the construction on the Volcano pool won't really affect our view. I have seen pics of the bungalows from the club level building and it's not tooooo terrible. Did you pay for a garden or theme park view? That will determine what side you face. Hope that helps!

I am at the CR, but could switch to the Poly CL - Theme Park View for just a little more. After watching a video posted Im staying away, looks like many of the HAwaiii TP views are blocked by the DVC bungalows and tons of construction.

What do you think about the last couple weeks of April 2015? Will any of the construction be finished? I'm thinking of the GCH more than anything. Am looking forward to Trader Sam's.

The only thing not completed by April 2015 might be the pool area but they are trying for the end of March or beginning of April. After then Nanea pool area is back open they will close the East pool to be renovated so that area might be under construction. Other than that everything else should be done around February.

Anyone hoping for a club level villa?

Faith, Trust, and..PIXIE DUST.

If it were ever possible to get one for a cash reservation if they aren't constantly booked up by DVC owners I'm hoping to persuade DH into getting one in 2016 for our 15th anniversary ... that is if I haven't already persuaded him to buy into DVC ;) A girl can dare to dream! :rotfl2:

Thanks Tikiman. The Polynesian (village) was the first Disney hotel I stayed at about 30 years ago (and was kind of a fluke we ended up there) I'm keeping an open mind and really looking forward to being there again. Especially Trader Sam`s.

We just got back from a garden view CL room (one that used to be a theme park view) and while we could see construction (hard to miss the green wall outside our room) and hear it, it wasn't really obnoxious. We got our first and only swim in the volcano pool the day before it closed, but didn't try the quiet pool out. The biggest thing we noticed was that to walk from the boat launch to Hawaii required you to go all the way up to the GCH and around, which made for a long walk back to the room. We watched Wishes three times- once from the beach, once from the lounge, and once from our lanai (ground level) and enjoyed it each time. The worst view was from our room, and really that wasn't all that bad. You could see the castle through the fence because it was all lit up, and you could still see the fireworks at castle level through the fence, with the larger fireworks being perfectly visible over the fence (except for that pesky foliage in front of the room- that did obstruct a few fireworks, but nothing nutty. :-).

The staff in Hawaii were all so great! Everyone was polite, upbeat, and so proud of their resort! We also thought the new bungalows looked amazing- other than making the Poly look more like it was in the South Pacific, the biggest thing we noticed was it blocked the Contemporary from the beach and the pool, which I was fine with- it made me feel more immersed in the resort. We can't wait to go back and see it all complete, but we really enjoyed it and fell in love with it!

We were just at Poly CL TPV over July 4 week. Construction of the bungalows did not bother us at all (we find it interesting!). The pool was still open while we were there, so we really weren't impacted at all by construction while staying in Hawaii. Here are some pictures of our view:

Kofslinky...so does the resort still seem to be relatively full despite all of this construction? The restaurants...bus stops...etc.?
