Official October Code Watch

I hope I can help. I got this from another site........... It pretty much explains things. Outside of your 45 day window then you can change all you want. Inside of that window is where you have some difficulity and penilities. Last year the codes/AP rates starting on 8/14-8/17 including the AP's and room-only. I allways book a room-only just for this reason. Unless you have a discounted AAA pkg. ( which I believe should be booked as soon as they come out) then you can allways turn a room only into a pkg with no hassle. Here is the info! And I am also still waiting. popcorn:: popcorn::

When booking a vacation package through WDTC, you will be subject to the following rules:

You must pay a $200 deposit within 14 days of reserving your package.

Final payment of the entire remainder is due 45 days prior to check-in. You have to pay in full right away if you are booking less than 45 days in advance.

You can change or cancel your reservation without penalty up until 45 days in advance. From 6 to 44 days in advance, there is a cancellation fee of $100. If you cancel 5 days or less in advance, you pay a $200 penalty.

Any changes that result in a rate change, such as applying a discount code, reducing number of days and/or changing to a differently-priced resort, made 45 days or less prior to arrival, are subject to a $50 fee.

Beware - WDTC usually adds nonrefundable travel insurance to your package by default. If you don't want it, tell them while you are making the reservation. Once you hang up, it's too late. You can add the insurance later if you wish, up until your final payment is due. You can also buy travel insurance directly and usually save some money that way.

Airfare added to your reservation is also nonrefundable. It's hardly ever a good deal, either. I strongly advise booking airfare separately. Visit the Airfares page for hints on how to save on airfare!

Last year we had already transferred the balance to our credit card when the code came out. I called Disney - evidentally we were outside the 45 day window because they did not mention the $50 - even if they had it was worth it for the $$ we saved. They gave me an option - keep it as a credit to our "Disney" account and have that as spending money once we got there or take the credit to the credit card.

Thank you both very much! I appreciate it.

:wizard: Here's a little magic for the October codes to come out soon! :cheer2:

Good Afternoon Everyone,
I too am going in Oct., but I hate to say that I don't think they are going to offer a code this year. Just in cases anyone hasn't noticed they have changed the MK hours for the first three Saturdays in Oct to open until at least midnight, if not 1 am. They don't typical do this unless they are anticiapting larger crowds. And if they are already anticipating large crowds, then there really isn't a need for a discount.
I am not trying to burst anyone's bubble, I just wanted everyone to not be shocked if there isn't one this year. I was one of the fortunate ones to get a pin code for that time frame early this year.
I WILL still keep spreading pixie dust for everyone though that a code will come out.

Have a magical day.

Timon71,

That is what I am afraid of, I had the pin code as well, but with my cruise ending on the 7th I was not able to take advantage of it. I was so bummed. I missed it by one day!:wizard:

Oh, please let tomorrow be the magical day AP codes are released ;) .

For any CM who might be reading ... I promise to come with wings on my back :tink: , a wand in my hand :tink: and pixie dust :tink: for my fellow travelers.

I am hoping they do release a code this year, if not...oh well.
I got a pin code as well (the 40% post card thing), but I used it for my September trip.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. They have offered codes during their busy time frames before. If they have too many reservations at one resort they will offer discounts at another to make room at a resort they don't have problems filling. For example if the Wilderness Lodge is filled and the Polynesian is only at 50% capacity they would offer a discount at the PR to open up the rooms at WL for the unknowing (nondisboarders) to pay rack rates.

The rate releases:
It was 8/16 last year and in 2005 they did that disaster "best rate program" and 2004 the rates didn't come out till 8/25.

Before any one gets too disappointed about this... check out the Disney website.

The hours are for the Halloween Party. Unless you have a special ticket to the event, you will be run out of the park well before midnight. We went in November and they did the exact same thing for the Christmas party. They advertised being open until midnight, but it closed to the general public at 8 if I am not mistaken.

Based on what I saw last year in November, they will run a similar code deal this year. The parks were far from crowded and it was very nice. Its the reason we are going back at the same time, just 3 weeks earlier. Don't give up hope, I would bet money they offer a discount code for October. In fact, I would bet in the next couple of weeks.

:yay:

The midnight and 1 am hours are not for the Halloween party. The MK hours are posted for a 7pm closing for Halloween party nights.

Thank you so very much for this information. I am glad then that I canceled one night of my reservation to make the fee much more manageable.

It looks like only 2 Saturdays, one Friday and one Sunday that MK is open late during October. Maybe that is to make up for the days they close early for MNSSHP?

So, for those who have used a code before, what are the general public codes? Someone mentioned 40%, but was that a PIN or a general code and was it off any type of room? Sorry, bu all I have ever used is the AAA discount and I'd like to know whether another code might be better.

The 40% off that I had was a pin code mailed to me from disney, it was for the value resorts and it was not offered to the general public. I know some people on the disboards were able to use it when they called and others were not. It has already expired though.

You are correct, sorry.

I still think they will have codes. Its still a little early for me.

another poster commented that the hours for MK are late on some nights in Oct. (until midnight or 1am). I did not see this on the Hours Calendar. We are going in early Oct. Does anyone have clarification on the hours?

just hoping for a code we need to make final payment August 24th so I hope one comes out before that.

We are going to be booking our rooms for our upcoming October trip within the next day or so. We are getting a $300 savings if we book a AKL pool view room vs WL standard courtyard. These were the cheapest they had left according to the cm since we need two rooms. My dilema is do I go ahead and book the AKL and save the $300 and hope there is a code for there, or should I take a chance and book the WL? I have read some people are speculating if the code will include AKL. If it includes the AKL I could save even more money, but if it doesn't I could be miss out on staying at WL. WL is where I really wanted to stay, but $300 savings fits better in our budget.
