~*~ Official October 2024 Thread ~*~

On October 22 there is a private event for the Gartner Conference - they rented the park out. My husband gets to go (not me though).
Why don’t you get to go? Were spouses not invited or were you are not planning to be in Orlando with him at that time. Just curious. 😉

Spouses are not invited. It’s a learning and networking event for C-suite level execs. Every day runs from breakfast through to events after dinner. Really no point in tagging along to be alone the whole time.

Looking for some advice on the following plan. We are a family of 3. Myself, DW and DD8.

Original Plans:
10/18 Flight into MCO lands at 930PM , check into Pop Century.
10/19 Hollywood Studios , Fantasmic dining reservation
10/20 Magic Kingdom at noon + MNSSHP tickets, stay until midnight. Or go early to MK, return to hotel to rest, back at 4 for party.
10/21 Sleep in, go to Epcot in the afternoon and Luminous.
10/22 Magic Kingdom again, flight home at 830PM.

But with Epcot now closing at 5pm on 10/22 and MNSSHP being on both 10/20 & 10/21, I expect Magic Kingdom to be packed on 10/22. We want to hit Magic Kingdom twice if possible and also see Fantasmic and Luminous.

I checked Touring Plans, and currently, 10/22 is predicted as a low-crowd day at MK. But, you have every right to be cautious about crowds. In the end, I'd keep your plan. It's always nice to end a trip at MK!

We're excited to join in on the October trip group!

I booked us a last-minute trip over Yom Kippur/Indigenous Peoples Day/Columbus Day Weekend, the 10th - 14th, and will be staying at the Contemporary.
:maleficenMNSSHP is on the books for Friday the 11th.

The main focus of this trip will be MNSSHP, and saying our goodbyes to Tom Sawyer's Island and Dino Land @ AK. I also hope to explore BLT as I'm considering purchasing a small resale DVC contract there. Though it pains me to do it, we'll likely skip Epcot and for sure HS for more time in MK. The walk to MK from CR can't be beat! :woohoo:

I do expect high crowds as it's a holiday weekend for some. DD10 and DS12 are in a new school district that gives them off Friday and Monday, making it a 4 day weekend. I couldn't pass it up! We likely will not be back to WDW until next Summer.

::yes:: Edited to add all of the holidays

Well I think I will. I likely won’t renew my Disney AP,
What did you decide to do? I wasn't planning on renewing mine that expired in late August, but am tempted to. I need to crunch #'s

Update: We cancelled Sept 29 - Oct 3rd trip.

The disadvantage of not having park hoppers is the effect on evening plans. If it is a park like Animal Kingdom, a half day park for us, we would go to dinner in Disney Springs. If we want to catch fireworks, concert, or more rides, our options were limited.
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear you had to cancel! I agree about AK, and what to do after. Sometimes it's nice to hop after they close. For our short trip, I am thinking of bypassing the PH option for ease of planning and less running around.

Just booked our trip for POP for October 9-13! We went on this same weekend for the last two years.
-Wed arrive
- Thurs party 🎃
- Fri park hop
-Sat park hop
How have the crowds been the past 2 years? We are arriving on Oct 10th, and hitting the parks Thurs-Sun. First time going over this holiday weekend.
Which party did you decide on? In the last 2 years of MNSSHP, we have attended the party on our last night and were all so tired and couldn't make it to the end. This year we are going at the beginning!

We are also going that week. Arriving to MCO at 8pm on the 18th, staying at pop. I think you are spot on about mk being extremely crowded on 10/22. I would stay away from mk that day. I had to adjust our itinerary when I found out Epcot was closing at 5. We have a park hopper so we are going to epcot for the 1st half of the day on the 22nd, we are assuming very low crowds at epcot that day.

I'm thinking of changing our plans up a bit. Instead of 4 parks days, we get a 3-day park hopper and change our MNSSHP ticket from 10/20 to 10/21.

10/19 - HS
10/20 - Start at Magic Kingdom, hop to Epcot in the afternoon
10/21 - Magic Kingdom at 12, stay for the party until midnight.
10/22 - Sleep in and hang at the resort/pool until our flight home.

@pompetti that sounds like a good plan. You'll be tired, and will be nice to have a slower day on departure! Plus, you can always add a day if you change your mind, but would lose the 4th day if you paid upfront and were too tired to go.

For those going to Hollywood Studios, did you see this? We'll be sad to see him go, but looking forward to the new Cars area in MK. I can see why they are retheming this area as the last few times we've visited this attraction the attendance was sparse. My DS12 was a huge Cars fan when he was a little boy, so Lightening McQueen will always hold a special place in our hearts. Bummed we won't make it for one last show! We're missing it by only a few days.

"Before these villainous fiends take the spotlight at Sunset Showcase, guests should speed on over for another lap around the track at Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy before October 7."

Hey, thanks for asking! We STILL haven't gotten our tickets! and less than a month out. I am probably just going to buy this this week, and I think we're just going to do 3 day PH. DH and the kids brought up Typhoon Lagoon. That hadn't been on my radar , so idk....I do plan on trying the new multiLL, at least 1 day,. I want to try at HS, because the last few times there, the wait times are all terrible by like 10AM.
Less than 1 month!!! in 4 weeks, this will be the morning we'll be recuperating from hopefully a fabulous HHN, so still sleeping! then back to BWV for Disney fun!! Best of luck with your Disney planning too!
DH and I both have some stressful work crap to get through this week, but then , can get in the frame of mind for vacation!!

Adult DD and I will be at Music Oct. 3rd-10th! So excited to head back to WDW with my last trip in 2015. Daughter hasn't been since 2011 and she really needs some Disney magic! Doing 2 days parks, MNSSHP, and pool time! Thinking about Typhoon Lagoon as well!

Thank you! I hope the work stress is long behind you and you're in happy trip-planning mode.
I think we're just going to do 3 day PH
This is my plan as well. I considered renewing only my AP and not the kids, but missed the window and now it's back to full price. I'm going to take that as a sign that it wasn't meant to be. After the trip, they used to let you apply ticket prices to an AP if you want to upgrade. If they still do that I'll reconsider an AP after we're home.

How's everyone else doing with their planning?

Anybody here going to be trying for Moonlight Magic (DVC) on October 24th at AK?
No, we are DVC resale... but would love to go one day if we are direct owners! MM sounds like such a fun night.

We'll only have 2 park days in Oct, and hadn't really decided on what days in which park. We've been checking park hours here/there for a while.
Last night, checking park hours in MDE, saw that Magic Kingdom is staying open until 11PM that Wed we are there. Previously they were showing closing at 9PM that night. But yay!!! We'll be able to plan to stay at MK fairly late that night. (although could also mean Disney expects extra crowds....)
2 weeks until our WDW fun begins (after 1 night of thrills/chills at HHN and Universal fun.)

Happy, happy dance around here. Just a few more work/school days before we hit the road to our happy places. Going to be a long 1 day drive though, blah, hopefully no issues and not too much rain.
one night at HHN to start the fun. Got our 2 day PH WDW tickets, and bought/booked our Lightning Lanes for one day. Got our 3 rides for HS to start the day, and hoping to have success in getting more throughout the day at Epcot and MK. Lots to pack in with only 2 days!
October is finally here!!! Hope all the others with October plans have wonderful trips!!🎃🎢:darth:

@Skywalker3 safe travels and also hoping the rain holds off for your drive! I'm also keeping an eye on the tropics for next weekend. Fingers crossed we're spared.

Our LL booking window opens tomorrow morning. It'll be my first time using this new system so a little nervous about it. But, looking forward to sleeping in a little and not having to wake up every morning at 6:45 AM on vacation to book the day. My kids are 10 & 12 and will sleep in, even at Disney, haha!

For passes, I ended up buying an AP for myself, and 3-day PH's for the kids. We shop and eat, so the discount helps lessen the blow. Also love magic shots and wanted to keep an account going with memory maker.

Thanks for the well wishes. This is my first time also using this new LL system. I've only bought a GotG LL and a FOP LL in the past, but not this new Multi pass LL, so this will all be a big experiment for us... I think we're still going to rope drop HS. 3 of the 4 of us wanted different rope drop rides.....so splitting up, then meeting at the Falcon for our first LL. Then we'll hope for the best at getting other LLs for the rest of the day.
Hope you have a wonderful trip! and safe travels and good weather!!
