WDW-A-RAMA:

Nov 2014 will be our first Thanksgiving trip. Can you give me advice? In only need to miss 3 days of school (I teach). It will help the kids, too, to not be out any more than that! We get out the W, Th, and F of thanksgiving week. My plans were to take off the Friday before, allowing us to leave Thursday evening before thanksgiving. We would spend Saturday-Wednesday in the parks and start the drive home on thanksgiving day. I had secretly hoped that this would allow us to miss the worst of the crowds. After reading the boards, should I reconsider and take off the 3 days after thanksgiving instead??? In short, which is less crowded, the few days before thanksgiving or the few days after?

I'm not from US, so don't know exactly when thanksgiving is. We're there from nov 13th to dec 4th. What time is thanksgiving, and what dates around it do you guys think it'll be busy? We might try and to other stuff than park days on those days to avoid the crowds.

We always go Thanksgiving week because of kids school schedule also. We get there the Thursday before and leave the Saturday after. 2012 seemed to be busier than the past. The only thing different from '09 and '11 from '12 was MVMCP was offered the Saturday before Thanksgiving. We were able to attened this time. It was only offered the Saturday after when we have been before. Normally the crowds weren't really bad until Wednesday. Thanksgiving day until Sunday were always the busiest days. I have heard that the crowds are gone by the Monday after.
As much as I would love to just walk up to a ride and get on, the crowds aren't enough to keep me from going. This is the only time of the year we can go as a family.

GirlDreamer, Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday in November.

Thank you! Confirmed my decision!! Now, to decide whether to book now or wait...according to some it's better to wait to see if offers will be available??

Woo! The Hubster just green lighted our trip we are planning 14-21. Super excited because our 8th anniversary fall within those dates! Just need to book it! Thinking CSR the photos look so pretty!

You're welcome :)

I have always booked our trips way ahead of time and then just call back if/ when they announce any discounts. But we have always booked packages, so that makes it easy to call and change.

I will make our reservations as soon as I can. We are hoping to have my 2 nieces go with us. Have to start paying on that one ASAP. DH and I will be at WDW Jan 5-11 for an adult only trip. So making payments sure comes in handy!

Our Nov 20-29, 2014 Trip will be DH, Me, DS(21), DN(23), DN(16) and DD(14). This may cost a small fortune.

I feel your pain! There will be 9 of us this time around (first time we've all gone together!) Now I'm questioning my resort choice! I just can't make myself pull the trigger on making the ressies!! My plan is to just start giving everybody thats going disney gift cards for any/all occasions! That will help...

We are still debating I am thinking October but I would really like to see the Christmas lights one time. :confused3

I will be driving from Dallas Texas and we will be staying a a little mermaid room at the art of animation resort nov 15-24 :)

We have changed our dates. We are now going in October. Hope you guys have fun planning, I am off to the October boards! :)

Hello!

We are looking at 11/6 through 11/13, round about.

We will have firm dates once they announce the date for the 2014 W&D 1/2.

We will be staying at POFQ, unless I can get Boardwalk *way* cheap, which wont ever happen.:sad2:

Currently working on our 02/2014 Trip to WDW, so this trip is kind of on the back burner untill I can get some dates pinned down and such.

We have never traveled during the holidays, thinking of going during thanksgiving, how incredibly insane is it? We are used to July and August crowds.

I'm not sure how busy, but busy enough for the TS restaurants to up their prices.

I've updated the list with all the changes :)

I just booked our November 2014 family trip!! Staying 11/28-12/7 in a LM room at AOA.

This will be our second trip. First was in December of 2012.

Nervous about the holiday crowds but excited to begin planning.

I know it's a bit early to plan too much, but what are you guys doing while in Florida? WDW only, or other stuff as well?

Our tickets includes waterparks and more, so we'll definitely do all the WDW parks and whichever of the waterpark that is open (knowing one of them is usually closed for refurb at that time of year). But we also want to do Discovery Cove, Sea World, Universal and Busch Gardens. My DFI also want to visit Florida Aquarium (I think that's what it's called anyway, I know it's in Tampa). And we might go to the Space Centre as well. And don't forget about the shopping :goodvibes We're also looking into doing 2 tours in Disney, probably the Wild Africa Trek and Keys to the Kingdom tour, but it's not decided which yet. I guess the Holiday D-Lights tour seems cool too, but it's a pricey one.

We've also made sure we'll have time to relax and recover, that's why we decided to make it a 3 week Disneymoon. I think I'm looking forward to having those relaxing days at the pool with a lie in as much as the park days

I've been thinking about this for weeks already!! It seems so crazy to begin planning now, but I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Since this is only our 2nd trip. We are going to stick to WDW and maybe sea world. Ill have two little ones with me so universal is out of the question this time.

I'm new to the boards. We are going November 12-20 and staying at POR!

It will be our older DD's 5th birthday and we have planned to take her for her 5th bday before she was born. I've been planning this trip for years!

Hi hi, sorry but you can remove me from the list. I've changed my travel dates. Happy planning everyone!

2013 Fall Free Dinning was announced and POFQ is excluded from the promo. I'm already worrying about next year! I refuse to change resorts so I might as well be happy if POFQ is included on the Room Only discount. I really want free dinning though!

Lol... I've been addicted to the free dining extension thread! It's like a soap opera! I just keep thinking, this is going to be us next year!! I keep telling myself to just be ok with paying rack rate, it's what we are planning on spending anyway...that way any discounts or offers are just pixie dust:)

That was what I said to my mom last night. We plan for rack rate and any discount we get is a bonus and if we don't get any that's ok, I just don't see myself staying at CR, CSR or POR just to save a few bucks. I have a full year to pay off my trip, we're not on a tight budget and we'll be at our favorite place. That is enough for me :thumbsup2
