***Official November 2013***

RejoyceoverDisney: I like the way your mind works!

I found 2 DisIgners in the creative threads who make custom dinner invitations, mousrkeeping thank you notes and non Disney (legiland) invitations. These people are SO creative AND kind!

Somewhere along the way, I read about My Pal Mickey. It's an interactive plush Mickey that comes w/ a a lanyard attached. You 'wear' him to the park and he giggles, vibrates, talks throughout the park (tour guide). Its been discontinued, but they still work in MK and Epcot. Um, eBay may be involved with that one. I haven't confessed to the hubby yet, bus DS8 thinks that's my best Disney idea yet!

Then there's eBay and the pins. Ooooo, had to put the brakes on that one. Now I'm experimenting on what to do with them/ where to put them. I've gone from 8 1/2 c 11 sheets of colored paper in a binder to 9 pocket 8 1/2 x 11 plastic sleeves to making my own trading bag w/ a zipbale 3 ring binder and plastic cross stitch sheets. Funny, I was trying to save money by making my own pin book! Ha ha!

Oh boy, then there's the thread on what to say to the characters to engage in conversation. That one it great!

Hmmm, there might be more, but when I see what I have been up to (and there's 3 months left to go), oh boy, my family is quite tolerant of me!

Thanks for letting me share!

What is the name of the thread that discusses what to say to characters to get them to interact?I want to get the most out of those meetings as possible!

I've heard if you say "Andy's coming!" around Toy Story characters, they will fall to the ground and lay there like toys.

there was a discussion about this on another forum and it was said not true and actually someone witnessed people yelling and it got really annoying.
Imagine if this was true those poor characters would spend the whole day laying on the ground in the parks.

I'm not saying that it never happened at some point, but I imagine it's been abused and .......well that is my 2 cents. :)

Hi! I'm new here, but not to WDW. My family- DH, DS(17), and DS(13) will be visiting Nov. 3-10.
The surprise is that the kids think we're staying at Coronado Springs again, but since that wasn't available when I got around to calling to add the military discount, DH and I decided to upgrade to AKL! This is such a dream for us, so we're really excited!
I decided to join here to get some more info and help pass the time till we go! I love hearing about other people's trips and tips!

:rotfl2:
That's cruel that they can't wear them this summer. LOL
But hey that's being ready!

I bought them new clothes for summer, I let them pick what outfits they wanted for disney and which ones for summer so they were happy! I think I might do the same for me this year, I'm sure the summer clothes will be going on sale soon:). I so can't wait for November!

Glad you are being positive like me and those silly people trying to scare us with the idea of winter coats are not straying you from your outfit choices.
I'm hanging onto the fact that 70-80 degree weather will not require winter clothing. :goodvibes

Fun fun fun.
I can't wait to actually see the 10 day forecast and pack.

Ok so it's quiet on this thread tonight. All the over excited people must be wiped out from happy dancing. I'm up late because I found another Disney project.

Awhile ago I read something about "Mousekeeping Tip Envelopes". I stumbled on that thought again and decided to make some tonight. No I didn't custom make them. I did a google search and found some already made ones that I could just print, cut and tape to be ready. There were some that didn't say "MouseKeeper" on them so I printed a few.

Here is my thinking. We don't live or work there so to us it's all new and fun. I can't imagine what the Mousekeepers find when they go into a room to clean it. So I thought it would be fun to leave surprises for them. I'm not going to get into a debate about personally handing them money vs leaving it for them and so on. In good faith I will leave it and hopefully it will make their day.

And then the blank ones, we'll see. I might use them at Table service tipping time. I know the $$ is fun for them to get, but its expected. So I figure if I can do something fun too. Wish I was good at origami folding. That would be fun to leave the tip that way. LOL Maybe I'll get my son to fold me some tips ahead of time. :littleangel:

Just stretching out the magical time.
Hubby saw what I was doing when he went to bed and said "I'm so glad you are having fun planning this vacation."
pixiedust:

Hope everyone sleeps well.
Love to hear what the rest of you do to make the vacation fun. And keep yourself busy while waiting.

I did those envelopes in 2010 but directly printed the images on the envelopes. There were 2 families in our trip so I printed 2 sets for each day of our trip. I think they appreciated it!

Tell us more!! Tell us more!!!
Ok my friend insisted we buy the MVMCP tickets so I did so for the Friday/last night of my vacation. But now you say "his shirt"??? Ok besides getting cookies and hot chocolate, what other fun things will I get to encounter. Is his shirt like the new trend of ugly sweater parties?

I'm making g myself a shirt too, just made his first. His is a gray t-shirt (mine is black). I made a Mickey head from holiday fabric (his has Christmas bulbs all over it with a green background (mine will have different fabric). Then I made a Santa hat from red felt, white fir trim and another white fur for the pompom.

I have a picture on my phone but it doesn't do it justice. I'll try to remember to take another pic with my camera and upload it at some point.

Like Joyce said, that is not allowed. I believe it was something that just went viral. My friend is friends with Jessie and she said there were lots of issues a few months back. I feel so bad for the CMs that have to put up with that.

:welcome: And I would love to stay at AKL one day. That's why I joined the DIS - to read what other people were talking about. :rotfl: It was a looong time before I joined and started actually "talking" on here.

Count us in :thumbsup2

Dd and I will be there Nov 13 - 25 staying at CBR. Can't wait to see the Xmas decorations party:

Sounds fun!
I'll pick up a Christmas Mickey ears or something. Usually I jump all over making a unique something but.....probably not this time.
OHHH I could make a pretty bow out of Christmas material and pin it to my mickey ears. :) Probably not.

I wish we were going to be there after Thanksgiving because doing a Christmas thing before Thanksgiving just feels wrong. But I'm going with the flow of the fun.

I can tell I'm tired tonight. I'm not happy dancing and even looking at the cheerleader is making me tired. :)

You can just pretend you are Canadian...our thanksgiving is in October ;)

At the Christmas Party is the oonlky time we'll be wearing Christmas stuff. If hubby didn't work retail, we'd be goiing the week after Thanksgiving which is when we went in 2007. Loved that week but now he can't take any vacation from Thanksgiving thru New Year's so we picked as close as we could get.

We had actually originally planned to be there the week of August 5th, but the other couple coming with us insisted we had to see the Christmas lights and so on. I couldn't go the week of Thanksgiving because of my son getting out of college for that long weekend and the other one with special needs being out of his program and requiring more care if he didn't have that.
And then December never occurred to me cause I just figured that the crowds would be heavy.

Overall I'm glad we are going when we are going, but it is hard waiting.

:rolleyes1
