Just saw that Fort Wilderness was added to the magic band testing for Oct.
We usually surprise our kids, and they love it and actually request it!Unfortunately, this trip we wanted to leave the night of Halloween, so in order to do so, they would either leave earlier in the day and miss most of the school festivities or leave later and really only get 1 hr of trick-or-treating. We didn't know what they would want and booking airfare is a big expense to guess on.
They were a little upset that they weren't surprised with the trip, but then we followed the news of the trip with another big bombshell that made them forget about their disappointment.
They asked why we decided to go on a WDW trip when we just did DCL last year. We had originally told them that DCL was a BIG cash trip so WDW would be a few years. DH told them that we decided to go because if we waited a few years, we wouldn't be able to fit in a room for 5, and that most WDW rooms can't accommodate for 6 people! My DS was the first one to catch on that we would soon be adding to our family.WDW at 28 weeks pregnant is better than with an infant IMHO.
It's my birthday and I've got 58 days until my next WDW vacation!
AND.... in 42 days I'll be closing on my house!
Oh my goodness, I can't take all this excitement!!
Mike!!!
Very cool about the 2 bedroom upgrade.
Yeah, it would not be a good idea to surprise a kid regarding Halloween and his birthday. If his mind was set on something else he might start crying from the change. We were watching Disney surprises gone wrong on YouTube the other day. One kid started crying because he thought he was going to Chuck e Cheese and he didn't think Disney was a good substitute. My kids couldn't believe how some of the kids reacted. I don't think I would surprise a kid the day of a trip, but a few weeks in advance would be a lot of fun.

Just saw that Fort Wilderness was added to the magic band testing for Oct. they're being much more aggressive with this rollout than I expected.
My Mom's house in Leesburg. About 45 minutes away.
When we were there last Dec we booked a Bounceback for Oct at BWV ( for F&W) but we cancelled because a trip just wasn't in the budget. But when I started planning DS's birthday party ( latest thing is a mobile video game truck) I realized I had enough airline miles to take him. The whole family can't stay at my Mom's house but it's fine for just the two of us. And we both still have valid APs from our Dec trip (which was 12 days). Plus my parents bought APs this year. So I'm paying about half of my airline ticket plus food. We're going for 4 days -3 in the park and one off. It shouldnt cost me any more than a regular birthday party for his friends.![]()
We surprised our 2 last August. They were 14 and 16 at the time. I had them planning a trip to Lake George for most of the summer. We decided to tell them a week before because I knew they would pack different stuff for Disney.

On my gosh congratulations that's so wonderful![]()
...Congrats on your new addition!!![]()
Me too! I didn't think there was any way that we'd get to test, staying at an All-Star in November. But now it looks pretty possible. Do I dare get my hopes up at this point? I think it'd be so exciting to be a part of the test! Assuming that of course, WE don't have any of the myriad problems I've seen posted here on the DIS.![]()
Excellent. Way cooler than a mobile video game truck (wow, didn't even know they had those). I wish I could take each of my kids alone one time. I don't get nearly as much one on one time with them as I'd like. Even getting the opportunity to just take one of them to the store is a treat.
That's different, they were older and you didn't surprise them the day of. The videos we were watching were of younger kids who were surprised the day of, they had their heart set on something else and really had no idea what Disney was. I think my kids would love the surprise, but they would want to know a little bit ahead of time because they like a little anticipation.
I'd never heard of this truck either until we went to a gaming party last weekend. It as amazing. Now DH wants it too.

I only have one child but its still nice to have some one-on-one time. When he was littler he and I used to go to visit my parents and to Sea World. Now that it's Disney - the whole family (DH and DSis) usually goes. But I miss those mother-son trips.
We are surprising our kids on the dates, they know we are going to Disney but think we are going next year! My DD9 wants to know the day of, she said I have to do something nice not just wake her up and say we are going to Disney so I need to come up with a plan since our flight leaves at 7 AM!
Ok y'all here is our first attempt at this years LMGH! This one will be on our door at POP, we will have an identical one on our bag and each of us will have a smaller individual one on us somewhere.
