Hi everyone! Taking my 9 year old son and wife to Disney for the first time May 6-9. Only three days, but time and budget are limited!
I'm currently in Afghanistan (military), and should be home middle of April. I haven't booked yet (hopefully today), but I should be getting the military 35% discount on Moderate resorts (going for POR), and 4-day Park Hopper passes at $138 each for military...so my biggest question is rather or not to get the Quick Service Dining Plan.
I've been obsessively planning this for awhile...hopefully I made the right choices. If anyone has any thoughts/ideas/tips for something different, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks!![]()
OK...first wrench in the gears...there is nothing available at POR except for Royal rooms. So...the closest they could get was a Garden View room at POFQ. I wanted POR for the pool and play area, the fishing, and it seems highly recommended on this (great) forum. So, does anyone have any experience staying at the POFQ and walking to POR for the amenities? Maybe this will be a good thing...? At least we know we are getting two queen beds, but I think the 'vibe' and entertainment at POR would be more appealing to our 9 year old.

We have stayed at both POFQ and POR. And I agree, POR does have more to offer. But if POFQ is the closest you can get I think you will be fine. We didn't walk from one resort to the other, but I would guess it is about a 10 minute walk. And you can also take a bus or boat from POFQ to POR. Be sure to use the pool, eat at the food court, and see Piano Bob at POR!!

After 2 months of researching and planning on a Universal trip, as we are sitting down tonight so I can tell my BF what I have come up with, not only does he mention going to Disney...he wants to stay onsite!! I took him almost kicking and screaming to Disney pre-kids and it was just not his cup of tea. Apparently having a 4yo princess loving daughter can change a man.
