****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

So, is anyone getting a little nervous about the weather?? I was looking at the extended forecast (which I know is not that accurate) and I was seeing quite a few days of Rain!! :scared1::eek::headache:

It rained for one day on our last trip and we only realized it had when we came out of a ride/show and noticed that everything was wet.

Fingers crossed that there will be no rain on this trip!!!

Last May it showed rain for every single day of our week long vacation and guess what!? It poured the minute we arrived at Pop Century for about 10 minutes and not a single drop the rest of the week we were there! I know it's hard not to look at the extended forecast (I will be looking) but don't put much faith into it... everything will change by the time you get there :)

I just noticed our thread got a new change.....HOLY CRAP Now I'm excited...although I'm at the end of May and most of you will have abandoned me in a few weeks...but at least by the time I'm at WDW you all will be at home in a post-vacation depression ;)

this is why I shouldn't drink caffiene in the afternoon, I get snarky :hyper:

:cool1: We're 30 Days out today and got our Mickey Mail for both rooms today!:banana:

And on the restaurant ADR note? We have numerous times walked up to Chef Mickeys and gotten in, and also once for Akershus in Epcot. I think the key was the timing. Think "When is everyone else NOT gonna be eating?" For example, parade times, early..etc. We got in Chef Mickey early in the evening (late afternoon) and got in Akershus as soon as they opened. Just walked right in as soon as they opened. We don't however put all our hopes in those. We took a chance, and happened to get pixiedust:.

We don't have any ADR's this time since we got free quick service dining, so it'll be interesting to be sure w/o any ressies to see if we're going to like it.

Well, I may abandon you for a week or so but then I'll be counting down the August surprise trip:cool1:

We got annual passes this year so we're budgeting like mad to get extra use out of them:)

Wakica your dd is adorable!!
My kids got Slushies of some kind when we were at Goofys Candy Co in August. Are you saying they are all gone? They will be disappointed.. they LOVED them! I wonder where else we could get them? I better do some research:)

awe thanks :) She likes to pull a face in most pics like her father! lol

Okay, I'm just posting because I'm too excited to work :cool1: We leave two weeks from tomorrow - trying to finish up the last of our planning. I scheduled our KTTK tour yesterday, have my dining ressies in place (except for trying to switch our 9:30 Cali Grill to 8:30 - hope that works!), flights and hotel are booked of course. So, what else can I plan! I do need to make a packing list, so maybe I'll work on that today.... I promised DH this would be a more relaxing, "go with the flow" trip, but I so want to write a touring plan (I guess I could - he doesn't need to know ;))

I'm too excited for much of anything non trip related right now too!!! I say go for it - make some plans - if you don't use them oh well - it's still fun :) LOL

Ack.
Ds woke up with a cold today.

Just for a little background. August 2010 trip ds gets sick on the last few days of our trip, ended up in the hospital in Orlando for an infection in his appendix. February 2011, dd gets sick on day 1 of our trip and it turns out to be Strep throat.
And the grand finale, August 2012, ds gets what appears to be the stomach flu on check out day. Within 5 or 6 hours of being home we rush to the hospital. His appendix ruptured and we spend 2 weeks at the hospital.

Soooo please tell me this is just a cold, and our trip will be fine. Colds I can handle.

hope the cold is going away! BAD timing :( boo.

i say take their weather forcast with a HUGE GRAIN OF SALT. Rain or even thunderstorm to them can mean it rolls in quickly dumps a huge load of rain and leaves just as quickly as it arrived. No biggie usually.

So, last night, I was playing around on the computer and DH walked in and said, "I was thinking, maybe we should do the Wishes dessert party this trip."

Ummm, dear.....we are so not going to be able to get the dessert party a month before the trip.

DH: "What? It's not very popular, is it?"

And once I picked myself up off the floor after laughing myself out of the chair, I went back to playing.

Okay, I admit it, I'm only posting to see my ticker, haha!

Actually, I did have a question. Can someone explain Photopass to me? Like the condensed sort of version.

Photopass is a service that Disney offers in which photographers take your photo and give you a card with instructions on how to view them online when you get home. You can edit the photos by cropping and adding borders and whatnot. You can either order individual shots, or a CD with all of the photos on them and can print them out yourself. It is cheaper if you preorder the CD before you go.

LOL.. my husband is that way. He shows zero interest in what I am booking until about 2 weeks out and then starts asking if we can get this or that dining ressie. Ummmm...no.
Next time you could say "Sure! While I'm at it I'll book us a night in the castle":rotfl:

My boyfriend left all of the planning up to me. I did discuss all the dining options with him first. Funny enough the one he had interest in we ended up canceling when we were able to get Ohana. oops! He was totally okay with it though and has already promised future trips even though we haven't even left yet

I just had an overwhelming burst of excitement.. when I get up tomorrow I am only ONE WEEK AWAY!!!!

It's getting hard to talk about or think about anything else.:rotfl:
Where is everyone staying for their trip? Maybe it was discussed earlier in the thread but I'm too lazy to look.

We'll be at Universals Royal Pacific first for two nights, then on to a Jambo studio at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 6 nights and then our last night we move to Allstar Music for one night.

ETA) The plan for August was 2 nights at Royal Pacific again and 7 nights at AoA, but it's looking like we may be able to swing a few more days so I will likely add a day to both hotels.

The very first night we'll be roughing it at a Red Roof Inn (I won a free night's stay so might as well use it)... then we'll be spending 7 nights at Bonnet Creek. It'll be our first time "off property" but still inside Disney gates... I'm excited but sad at the same time. I love staying on property but it will be nice to have the extra room :)

Hey, that's pretty much what we're doing in August. 2 nights at RPR, then 5 at a villa at AKV (Kidani though). It's hard to get excited for that trip yet, as we're just 15 days away from our "adults only" anniversary trip - for this one, we're staying at CBR (my favorite mod )

Thank you so much Jonesloonybin:thumbsup2 I was able to get my daughter and her family into T-Rex on the Monday we are there at 7. My grandson was so excited:banana:

I love these boards and the helpful people!

Sure! I am so glad they were able to get an ADR! These boards are the best and I have gotten a lot of great help/tips/info. I am just happy to have been a help!

Hope they have a great time!

We plan to try Bonnet Creek too!! I think we're going to go to AoA in August, and then do Bonnet Creek for the 2013 trip before our passes expire. It's always subject to change though. Depends what the vacation savings is looking like as we get closer.

Looks like we have two trips in the same time frame! We've never had two trips this close together! In fact we took two trips in 14 months last year and felt guilty! Then we bought AP's and that kind of went out the window:rotfl:

I am really looking forward to AKL. Funny.. I never had any desire to stay there at all. And then on our last trip we went to Jiko and we were so impressed with the resort. I also like how it's tucked away on it's own. I think we are going to enjoy it.

I have to be honest though, I've never had a Disney stay I didn't like. Value or Deluxe is fine with me. We've had a bad night here or there, but never because of the hotel. Usually it was some fluke, like a really noisy night at Pop. That can happen anywhere though.
