Official May 2011 thread!

My family will be there May 15-20th :o) We're celebrating my graduation from Nursing School. This trip is a long time coming and my husband and I have planned it from the beginning of my academic career to give the kids something more to look forward to beyond Mom's boring ol' graduation ceremony ;o)

I can't wait!!!!!

Congratulations!!! I can't think of a more perfect reward! :goodvibes

Congrats! You deserve this after all your hard work! I'm in my first year of a 4-year Nursing program and it feels like graduation is forever away.

Thank you for the welcomes

@ Lifelong Dreamer -- the beginning of my journey felt the same way. Hang in there though ... it really does go by very quickly. Best of luck to you :)

Welcome to the boards and to your new obsession (planning Disney trips!) ;)

You are going to LOVE HDDR. My kids are the same age as yours, although the first time they saw HDDR was 2 years ago. I was worried they would be too young for the show (especially my youngest) but they really liked all the singing and action. Even though they didn't get a lot of the corny jokes, they still had fun. It was a great night that we often remember fondly  FYI: some of the tasty adult beverages come with the meal--beer, wine and sangria (what I had--Yum!)! Have fun planning your first trip!

It's a small world afterall :goodvibes

I see you're also going just a couple of weeks before us. Have a great time!

I'm so excited that we are under the 5 month mark. I'm even more excited that two of my best girl friends and their hubbies and kids are going with us:banana:

Look out World - the three stooges have planned a trip together and they're bringing their kids!

Thanks!!! I will have to check out the website. I have read that baggies are a must, so that is on the list. We do have our ADR made... this is what we have:

May 27: travel day, Chefs Mickey (d)
May 28: Epcot/HS : Askerhaus Princess (b)
May 29: Animal Kingdom: Tusker House (L):surfweb:
May 30: Resort day..... possible Dessert party. IS it worth it with the aged kids I have????
May 31: MK: BBB and CRT(d)
June 1: MK: Crystal Palace (b)
June 2: Travel Day

Have you made your ADR's yet? You definitely want to do that 180 days out or as soon as possible if you are closer than 180.

There are tons of lists out there to use for what to pack--here on the DIS and on allears.net are some of the best. Here's one to start you off from all ears: http://allears.net/pl/forgot.htm

About a month before our trip I set out a plastic storage bin in our bedroom in the corner. I randomly think of things that I need to remember to take but don't always have time to write them on my list. So to remedy that, I just toss the items into the bin so that way when I do my official packing I won't forget it! I use this for random items (like band aids or baby tylenol) not for normal items that I would pack like toiletries.

Also, another good item to bring (especially with young children) is ziplock bags--I take a variety of sizes: snack size, sandwhich size and gallon size. I use the smaller ones to save leftover food from a meal for a snack later on. The gallon ones come in handy in case one of your kids has an accident and needs to put on clean clothes--need to have a place to put the dirty ones! The gallon bags are also good for keeping your valuables from getting wet. For that matter, don't forget to take a change of clothes with you to the parks!

Happy Holidays everyone! I just realized our last full day in Disney will be Mother's Day. Does anyone know if Disney does anything special? We were planning on AK that day, with ADR's at Tusker for breakfast. I was thinking we would probably do DTD that evening for dinner and shopping. I don't really care about being "pampered" or anything like that, I just don't want to miss out on anything that Disney might be doing that day.

Hello, I haven't been on here in a few days, we had this big plan to reveal the surprise to the grandkids for this trip in May. We made the big reveal at Christmas. All the planning I had done for the big reveal didn't go too well.
On December 20th, I lost my son...unexpectently ( the childrens Daddy) so our big surprise wasn't as happy as we tried to make it. In stead we are grieving for our loss. I am just hoping that the next few months of planning will help the kids to focus on happy things.

I will be checking in once in a while to get some ideas for our trip

I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. My prayers are with your family. I hope you have fun planning your trip and it's such a nice thing to do for your grandchildren... I hope they will have lots of pixie dust sprinkled on them! When in May are you going?

So sorry for your loss!

i'm in too!
we haven't booked yet, but we're planning to be there for 8 days mid-May.
Our 4th anniversary is on May 15 so we're using that as our "excuse" to go :woohoo:

i'm not-so-subtly dropping hints (re: blatant statements) to the boyfriend that this would be as good a time as any to ask a certain important question... :lmao:

planning to stay at POFQ so far in our plans... waiting to see if any good deals come out after the first of the year before we book it up though.

Hi all. I'm not going in May myself. But my future sister-in-law is planning on going with a friend or 2, so I thought I'd look to the experts to try to pass on as much good advice as I can.

I already know about the ADR advice. I learned that the hard way with my recent trip down. Thank God for CANCELLED ADR threads. But if anyone else has any tips or a resort that does something special for this time of year I'd love to hear it.

Thank you.
