Official May 2011 thread!

Just found this thread after invading the June thread by accident! 20 DAYS!!! I am so freakin excited, especially to be going solo for 9 DAYS!!!!

3 weeks to go...
but six papers, one presentation, three finals, and various miscellaneous assignments to get through before that...
Disney planning is quite the distraction!! lol
I'm feeling ya! Im almost finished my speech outline and power point. So close to being DONE, I can taste it!

LMAO!:thumbsup2

I just joined the site today. My family and I are going to Disney World in May for our FIRST visit. I am so excited. We have been talking about this vacation for four years and now that my husband and I are both out of college we can finally go. I have been planning this trip for a year and am interested in any tips anyone can give me.

:welcome: I'm excited for you! My trip is in 32 days & a wake up.

Tips:
Use fast passes
be prepared for the heat - lots of water, breaks, etc
try not to get overwhelmed! there is lots to see and do and it can't all be done in one trip

those are just a few that DH & I go by :flower3: Hope you have an awesome trip! :goodvibes

We decided to save luggage fees and just pack everything in our carry-on (travel size of course). $50 saved!

We're at 18 days this morning :) DH is asking off of work today for that Friday *crossing fingers*. We've decided to just get another night at Pop so that we're all there and unpacked and ready for rope drop the following morning. Then we won't have to leave the park mid-day to unpack our van & get our room :cool1: I feel like I just extended my vacation a little bit! YAY!!!

I really cannot believe that I am going to Disney World. It just doesn't seem real.

Welcome to the DIS!

Some tips that I can provide are plan, plan, plan. It can be very overwhelming so planning helps a lot. If you are staying on property, don't be afraid to go back to the hotel in the middle of the day and swim and relax. We usually hit rope drop and then head back to the hotel around 12 and relax and swim. Then we head back to the parks in the late afternoon. It helps keep us fresh and we are not in the parks during the hotest part of the day.

I hope these help!

I was just scheduling some appointments for next week and it hit me....next week is MAY!!! Ahhh! How did that happen? Where did April go? Going crazy with excitement...all of our waiting is almost over!! :cool1:

We have 10 days left until we leave....I can actually say that we will be in Disney next Thursday :jumping1:

We told my DD4princess: on Saturday that we are going to WDW. It was a small scavenger hunt. Her fav. princess is Belle so we had her follow Belle's footprints to find different things and then ended up in the Dining Room with the Countdown Calendar. She is soo excited and my DH is finally getting excited now that it's only a month away (I've been excited since Nov. when we booked the trip  )

I will post pictures of our Countdown Calendar sometime this evening.

5 more days and then a road trip from VA, with a stop at the first Krystle hamburger place we can find. :woohoo:

May 1: Kidani Village, where we will hear those familiar words, "Welcome home!" Hope KV is as great as Jambo House, where we stayed last Oct. May 2: Wanyamaya Safari! Also, ADR's throughout the week at Sanaa, Yak and Yeti, Crystal Palace, Rose and Crown, Biergarten, 50's Prime Time, Sci-Fi Dine In, Paradiso 37, Spirit of Aloha.
May 5: SSR, our first time there. La Nouba on May 6!
May 8: Road trip back to our VA home. The, counting down to our next trip in Dec! :hourglass

Mentally, we are already there!

Had to check my ticker this AM!! We lost count over the weekend and forgot to put stickers on our Disney countdown.

Welcome to those who have just joined!!

For those who are new, all I can say is you need to do a bit of planning so you know where the rides/shows are that you want to do...use Fastpass to get on the rides quicker at a designated time ... take breaks in the afternoon...try to get to the parks early if you can to beat the crowds and heat in the afternoon.

And most importantly, you gotta realize that you WILL NOT see everything or do everything. I've been going for 33 years and about 35 trips (since I was a child) and I still haven't seen/done everything. So don't expect or even try to do it all in a week's vacation. With 4 theme parks, DTD, DQ, 2 water parks, the resort activities, pool, restaurants, characters, tours and of course any new stuff, there just isn't enough time. Enjoy your days, don't pack in too much so there are minimal breakdowns ;) and start planning your next trip ... and your next ... etc

Here's a picture of our countdown this morning. 188 stickers down, 12 stickers to go!! :yay:

Wow, that's great! We lost track with only 30 days!!

I'm not gonna lie, I put 80% of those stickers on there. The kids have been interested in putting stickers on maybe once a week since the countdown started...188 days ago. Perhaps I jumped the gun a bit on the countdown? :rotfl:
