Official May 2011 thread!

We are DL veterans (13 trips) but DW newbies and super excited for our first ever trip to DW in May13-May24 and staying at BC.

Sometimes the best part about a trip is how the pre-trip anticipation slowly builds as you think about what you want to see/do.

Cannot wait.

the great may debate

my mother & I were best friends, and the best disney companions.
My mother passed away on February 20th. This is the most devastating
thing that has ever and will ever happen to me.

Here's the thing--the Thursday before she passed away, she told me she wanted to plan a disney vacation for May.

So, I think I will go in May to celebrate her life, and what she has instilled in me. I plan on going with our best friend and his girlfriend and another one of my friends, so we would get two rooms. I'm thinking May 18th-24th (southwest has incredible deals if you fly those days)

Hopefully I will be able to post on here again, I know my ma is looking down on me as she spreads her pixie dust

I think it would be very admirable. I lost my mom in June of 1998, so I know the pain and hurt you are feeling. Just remember, no matter what your mom would want you to be happy and enjoy yourself.

Praying for comfort for you during this time, and an enjoyable tribute trip for your mom.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. I lost my dad WAY too early (he was in a car accident when I was 8 and was in a coma for five years and died when I was 13). One of my special memories of him is in tomorrowland and I really enjoy going and thinking about him. Being at Disney is a great way to celebrate someone's life so definitely go, enjoy, and tell lots of great stories about your mom!

Did I already ask you your dates? We're staying at WL!!!

We are staying at VWL May 28th - June 3rd. It looks like you are staying at the beginning of May?

Just booked today for a trip May 18-25!!! My sister and I are going, we were originally thinking of going in July but I already have vacation approved for May so figured why not? We're super super excited especially because it's so close, I'm used to booking much further in advance and having longer to wait! I also got all but 1 ADR I wanted. :yay: We're staying at ASMu, which is our usual hotel-we love it.
Hurry up May!

I have just about 8 weeks to go!

I am having the hardest time planning out my itinerary. It's a very short trip for the D23 scavenger hunt.

May 11th - Arrive at POP around noon. Then either head over to DHS or MK for the afternoon and evening. I really want to see wishes. I havent seen it since July 2009.

May 12th - Starting my hunt at AK then hopping over to Epcot for the rest off the hunt. Dinner at Tutto and Illuminations.

May 13th - Day 2 of the hunt. Option 1) Start at DHS and Finish in MK and stay for wishes. Option 2) Start at MK and Finish in DHS and stay for Fantasmic. Both options may end in hopping over to Epcot for evening EMH depending on how tired.

May 14th - Spend the morning and early afternoon at either DHS (morning emh) or MK. Magical Express pick up at 4pm : (

Hopefully i'll get this nailed down in the next 8 weeks.

60 days for us too, but it's our first time at WDW. We'll be there from 14 May until 25 May (in the parks from 15-24 May).

I'm looking forward to all the new experiences.

Yeah for your first time DisneyWitch!!!!!! Welcome aboard the May travel train. You'll love this time of year at the World!

Is the weather in May usually rainy?

In our experience, no (and this May will be our 4th time). I know there was the one May ('09 I think) where there was a week or 2 straight rain at Disney. Luckily, we had been there the week before it started so we missed it. If you look at the average rainfall for Orlando for May, it's pretty low. We generally have wonderful weather in May--nice temps and little rain! Hope you experience the same :)

Another May 2011 gal here! I'm obsessed with checking this site and others, checking out menus, looking at the videos of the rides, etc. :surfweb:

My friend, who went this past July and is totally NOT a planner, keeps telling me that I'm ruining it by all the reading & planning. She just doesn't understand that this is all part of the fun for me! :cool1:
