Official May 2009 Thread....The wait is on!!

Hello everyone! We will be going May1-8th staying at asmu. We wanted to try somewhere besides POP! Last May we were at the Contemporary, and frankly it was just OK! The kids wished we were at POP??? excited to see the newly renovated rooms at Music. :cool1:

Sign me up! :) My boyfriend and (both 24) will be there May 2nd-10th off-site at Radisson Resort Orlando-Celebration. It's his first time ever and my third (but I haven't been in 10 years). Quite excited!

So is it super lame that I am counting down the days already? 131 to go I think...Man I need a vacation from work.

I'm super excited too!! I have the countdown calendar on my desktop and I made one for Emily! I got a bunch of the Home Depot Mickey heads and put magnets on them. Every morning we remove one from the door!

Can't belive I missed this thread! Going soon on April 30 - May 7. We always liked Mays weather and crowd levels. This time we are staying at Pop Century. Heard and read lots of great thing about Pop.:yay:

We just booked for 10 nights at POP (May 19-29)!!!

We had our first trip last year the same week. We knew we would go back and were already talking about our next trip while we were there. We were thinking two years, but DS will turn 3 next year so we were able to squeeze in one more trip in one value room.

We would have liked to go earlier May (to avoid Memorial Day), but DH is graduating on the 16th. We decided to tell the kids we're going to visit grandma in FL, but we can't afford Disney until next year. This is going to be a difficult secret to keep, but it will be worth it when we drive onto Disney property. :yay:

We are so excited about our May trip!
May 22-30 (offsite)

We are celebrating our 11th anniversary and my parents first trip to Disney!!
3 generations to Disney! :grouphug:

We didn't tell our 11 year old son we were going to WDW this past August. We had to cancel our May trip and he thought we weren't going back until 2009. We live in Louisiana so we had a 14 to 15 hour drive ahead of us. We told him we were going on a long weekend road trip and we'd just go wherever the road took us. When we stopped at a rest area near Tallahassee, he looked at the map there and asked if we could go to Walt Disney World. We told him it was too expensive and that was too long of a drive. He played his PSP and watched the portable DVD until we got to Clermont. When we saw the first Disney World road sign, we asked him what it said. He said Disney World and that's when we pulled out the large envelope that had our reservation information in it. He pulled out the Disney World resort map and screamed like a girl!

Hope you guys have a great time keeping this fabulous secret and may it be as much fun of a reveal as our's was!

That's great. I know the kids will be screaming in excitement once they realize. They were so excited last time and they were completely aware of where we were going. At the first sight of anything Disney they were all squealing.

My DH also just loves to lie to the kids. :rotfl: We wound up leaving a day early last time because DH got done with finals and wanted to hop in the car. (We had packed the car in advance anyway, so the kids weren't suspicious with all the luggage.) We told the kids we were going out to a special dinner before leaving out the next day. We drove for 3 hours and then stopped at a Burger King. DH told them it was the "first" BK in celebration of our first big family vacation. They watched some movies and fell asleep in the car on our way "home". They woke up in the morning in South Carolina. :goodvibes

I don't think I could surprise with a first trip because my kids loved the planning so much. For this one they're still doing the planning of what they want to do next time; it will just come a few months sooner than they expect.

I am going to be at Pop I have posted this on my May thread where their are several not listed on this thread and viceversa !! How about a Meet at Pop by Petals Pool on May 20th at 2pm .I know many rest in the afternoon . Let me know !!

How fun!! We surprised our girls for their birthdays in June 2007 and then surprised them again when we went down for DH & my 40th birthdays in Feb of this year. In June we drove and told them we were going to the beach for the weekend. In February we flew...we woke them up at 3:45am and let them guess where we were going.

Have fun keeping the secret!!

We will be at Pop 5/23 - 5/31...maybe we will run into you!!

Stopped by the travel agency today on my lunch to do a favor for my Mom and thought I'd ask about our May trip. When we booked in Oct. the buy4 /get 3 free was not applicable after March (or April). I learned from this site that it had been extended and thought I'd ask if my balance would change. Turns out, my final payment is 649.00 less! I was a bit mad that I wasnt contacted and had to ask about it myself but quickly got over it and was happy with the price cut!
