*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

I'm having a hard time getting into planning mode. :guilty: I LOVE the planning as much as the actual trip, but this time of year is always crazy busy and I can't seem to get into the spirit. This week includes two final championship track meets, two soccer games, a championship volleyball tournament in Columbus, leaving Saturday, and the icing on the cake...I was selected for grand jury duty this week. :scared: I need some major pixie dust! pixiedust:

:welcome: Mouse3Dad, alexensmom, jd4nati, alayne, Anethesia_Fine, Sweetmo, jessie31383, and sedaniel! Hopefully, I spelled all of that correctly...

Love, love, LOVE Epcot! You know, this year, it wasn't looking too good for our annual trip. We started with ..eh...we can go down, do Epcot for my bday, MK for DD's, go home. Weeeellllll.....you CAN'T just do ONE day at those parks...so...two at each..yeah...but, then we really like going to those other two parks and can't really miss them.... And back to an 8 day trip, just like that. We've had some not sure if we will be able to go moments, but, so far, all is well.:dance3: Hope you all find some new favorites, getting to go to those "new" parks.

Aw, thanks for the welcome! We've been prepping the kids for rides via YouTube (we have one fearless one, but the other two need some coaxing) and every single one of them is impatient for Soarin'.

And you're totally right about the two-day thing. I planned one "free" day for us to do whatever, but I imagine a good chunk of it will be spent at one of those two parks, if not both.

I should be Happy, with the vacation all paid, and only 47 days to go. However, I was Grumpy all day. Of course, as a high school teacher dealing with teenage spring fever, end-of-year attitudes, and "it's cool to be Dopey" approach to school work, I'll probably be Grumpy until mid June. (7 Dwarf references intentional)

Yes the students are doing this to me as well. Friday ended with a huge stress headache, and I was grumpy today as well!

This vacation can't come soon enough, yet, I don't want it to be over... so time can't go too fast.

Even preschool students get spring fever! I can tell it's almost the end of the year because my class is very antsy, and the 4 year old girls learn "DRAMA"! This month is crazy at school and there isn't enough time in the day.

How many of us are teachers here???
My Middle Schoolers are going completely crazy... Well, crazier than normal...

How many of us are teachers here???
I would not be surprised to find many June (summer) travelers to WDW are teachers. This is our first WDW vacation, but not our last. My wife and I thought about a trip during April vacation, but it seemed too rushed. I would like to try a Christmas trip some time in the not too distant future.

I teach 4th grade. I won't be done until June 20, thanks to 10 snow days. This trip is a quick weekend trip for my son's 10th birthday. It's helping me get through these crazy days! Our weeklong trip is August, before we get back to school.

I'm admin at my middle school - I get out a week after the kids get out. Done on Friday, pack, leave on Monday! :)

I teach AP Government at my high school. The exam is next Tuesday and then it's just a lot of waiting. I can't figure out if the exam being over will make time fly or go by slow. I'll still have a full month to wait once it's over! :(

My Middle Schoolers are going completely crazy... Well, crazier than normal...

I teach preschool to 3 year olds turning 4 at preschool through 12th grade school. So we are off for the summer. My DH teaches math at a middle school. Both of us have found it just too hard to miss school during the year. In the summer we can go for two weeks but wouldn't be able to take that much time during the year. That is why we are going to Florida in June. (people think we are crazy!)
I'm out May 29th but probably have to go back after to clean up the room for the summer and order supplies for next year. DH's last day is June 16th.

That's the same as for my DH. I never understood why they extend school so long after any grades matter. What's the point? Especially when the kids know it!

Our trip is all paid for (except food) and I've already done the online check in.

What do you look forward to most on your next trip? Staying at WL! Last visit was to POR, but we walked through WL and were awed.

I cannot believe we are getting so close. This trip is a surprise for the kids. We are spending a day at Panama City on the way, and we plan on telling them we are going to Disney the day we drive to Orlando. Hopefully it goes well! DS has been asking to go to Disney World to see Mickey. He LOVES Mickey. The last time we went, he was 1 so he doesn't remember anything. And naturally, DD is Frozen obsessed and we got a FP to meet A&E!

We are doing the same thing!!! We are driving to Destin and staying for 2 days. The girls just think we are going to the beach for a week. When we leave early they are going to be so mad! We made up boxes of Disney stuff that they will unwrap when we are about an hour away. We will ask them what they think that means! It has been so HARD to not say anything to them!

ok for those of you using touringplans.com. Did you pay for it? Have you used it in the past? Is it worth it? I am SUPER cheap so only want to pay if have to and if it really is worth it. What are your thoughts?:confused3

If you're driving in Nashville, try to avoid the 24/65/40 interchange. Constructions been going on since dec and it's a mess. The interchange was bad enough before, but now single narrow lanes...Use the Briley Pkwy tn 155 detour.

Most downtown locations can be reached by the lower roads.

Thanks so much for this advice. I will be doing a bit of driving so I will avoid this interchange.

I've paid for the service in the past but for Disneyland. It wasn't worth it to me so I didn't use it for this WDW trip. It may be better for WDW.

I'm using the daily park recommendations from Josh at easywdw.com which is free. He also has some great touring plans which he calls "cheat sheets" that have been helpful.

Our basic plan is to hit rope drop, take afternoon breaks, and then head back to use our FP+ and for evening entertainment.

I have used it in the past, but this will be the first using the actual touringplans. I'm trying it because we have limited time and they claim to save you hours in line. I like the lines app which gives you up to the minute wait times that I've heard are actually more accurate than MDE.

You don't have to pay full price for it either. If you have the UG there's a discount for that. Or go listen to WDW Today. They usually have a discount code at the beginning of the show.

I'm so excited "JUNE" is so close!!! My DD received her post card from her Fairy God Mailer yesterday, and she screamed/jumped up and down. Time for a happy dance!!:cool1::banana::dance3::dancer:party:

THANK YOU!

So... I always get the UG when I go to Disney, and I sign up for the website. How did I not know that the plans could be customized??!!

Haha. Well, now I know, and I'm glad! Now, since my DH is not good at structure, I'm not sure it will work. However, we'll see what I can do.

Now I have something new to "play" with while I wait for our tip. :cool1:
