***** Official * July 2017 * thread! *****

Dairy, protein and fruit (if you get a cherry on top) - sounds like a nice well rounded meal! But this comes from the lady who thinks Mickey Bars are a perfect morning snack at Disney. At home I'm all about yogurt and oatmeal!

We are also believers in Disney snacks as breakfast... we always buy a large mickey rice crispie treat on our first day in the parks for our room - we then proceed to eat it little by little every morning while we are getting ready for our day. Rice crispies is a cereal... and there's dairy in there too somewhere... so really it is like having a bowl of rice crispies, right? Lol!

I plan on eating at least one cronut and one giant Joffrey's donut while on vacation. That's part of being on vacation! Heck if they still have that ice cream sundae donut for breakfast in MK then I might have to try that too. Although that looked over the top.

You guys may have talked about this already but what are your touring plans looking like? Are you guys taking mid day pool breaks to beat the heat? Or hardcore touring all day? I've never gone in the summer and dh doesn't handle the heat well. My kids are usually early risers so I thought we'd hit the park early, take a mid-day pool break around 2, and either stay at the resort or head back to the parks for night-time entertainment.

This trip is just DH and I for our anniversary (and first adults only trip!) and we are really kind of taking things slow. We have ADR's booked and FP's but we really want to take our time and soak in and look at everything around us. In past trips we have had the kids and have run around and try to see everything, but this time nope! So excited to take time and find things we have never got to do before and look in the shops without kids asking to have something or go!

That sounds wonderful! We will have the kids with us but are planning on doing less running around. We're going to try to enjoy the resort more. I'm not sure if that will change once we get down there and everyone wants to do their fav rides. We are going to avoid stores like the plague because my kids bought a bunch of things during the November trip. I'd love to go shopping without them. That would be so peaceful.

We have been in July several times and could never be in the parks all day. The heat is just to draining. An afternoon break at the pool is the way to go!

Adult only trips are so much fun!!!
Enjoy

We are definitely planning mid day breaks! We've never been in July, but have gone in early September (where both times the temps were in the high 80's-90's). Our plan is to tour from RD until 1ish, head back to BWV for a swim and a nap, and then return to the parks after 5.

This the first time we don't have park hoppers (we got the 4 day special ticket), so our touring style is much different than our past trips. We plan on using our FP's in the morning, and the hopefully can score some same day FP's for our evenings.

52 days!

Start packing! lol I have to do some shopping for our trip. I need to buy some shorts. I make ADRs for my November trip Monday. Planning 2 trips is keeping me busy. Maybe you need to book another trip @will5mom ;-)

We had park hoppers last trip but never did any hopping. We have them again this trip and we're hoping to get some use out of it. I'm also hoping for same day fast passes. I keep checking touring plans to see what's left.

Yes! Was just looking at adding points to our DVC pixiedust:

My favorite dessert for breakfast is a caramel apple! We have been in July the last 3 years, and plan to tour just like you mention... rope drop (and I am annoyed the parks don't open until 9:00. I like 8:00 a.m., but EMH aren't lining up well for us for mornings we will be there. ), a table service lunch, then swimming until about 5:00. We will then return to park, though sometimes a kid or two opt out and DH stays at the resort with them. We also have found that even on a short trip (ours is 4.5 days this summer), to schedule a resort day. Hitting the pool first thing in the morning is really fun. Last year we "opened" the slide at Boardwalk. We were "family of the day" at the pool, which was really funny because there were no other families at the pool. It also ensures we get a good swim in, in the event thunderstorms close the pool every afternoon (yes, that has happened to us.) we are touring HS on the afternoon and evening that day.

ETA: I have been meaning to post that I did have difficulty booking Flight of Passage right at my 60 day mark. I was on the second it opened, too. I did get one, but we wanted a morning slot, and 12:30 was the earliest I could find. I had not heard it was difficult. We are in AK on our 2nd day, though, so that probably influenced the lack of availability.

I had no problem booking FOP & I was surprised because I was 47 days out since we booked the trip so late. There was a lot. Maybe because we're doing it on 7/4 & everyone else will be in MK or Epcot.

I wonder if it was easier to book before the ride opened. Maybe some were not aware of FOP. That sounds like a fabulous 4th!

Hours will possibly be extended a couple of weeks before. I am hoping the mornings may get extended, but I think evenings are more likely.

I hope so. I'm used to them closing early in the winter, but in the summer they usually have extended hours. Which is almost necessary. It's just so hot! haha. A lot of time we show up at opening but then get out of there by noon when it starts getting hot, and then don't come back till 4 o5 pm. LoL

That is way I like to do, too, but I also like to get there before 9 am, because it is already hot!

Just booked! We will be staying at the Carribbean July 20-25th!!!

Side note: Why is MK closing at 10 in the summer? They have always closed at 12? What's up with that?

They started closing MK at 10 last summer, and they ended the electrical parade; cost cutting measures. They also want to redistribute crowds since, AK is now open later.
