The heat doesn't bother us all that much. The afternoon rain actually bothers me more than the heat. I have been caught in some crazy rainstorms at WDW! OK, storytime.......

It was August 1989...the second time my parents took us to WDW. I was 12 and my sister was 14. We were at MK and in the early afternoon...all of a sudden...the sky opened up and it started POURING!!!!! Well, we were the only idiots in the entire park who were not ducking for cover either in a store or underneath some type of awning or something...we must have looked like complete morons running through a theme park with (literally) SHEETS of rain coming down on us! By the way, we didn't have ponchos or any kind of rain jacket! We were walking as fast as we could. My dad and I were a little ahead of my mom and my sister, and all of a sudden my mom yells out, "STOP!! Come back, Alison fell!!" My sister had falled in the rain while walking downhill, and she started spinning around a couple of times. We all tried to help her up, and it was really difficult (and she only weighed 97 pounds!). We finally got her up, and heard this big suction noise as she got up! We continued to make our way out of the park, onto the monorail and then onto the tram to go to the car. We were all freezing on the tram ride (yes, I kid you not...freezing in Florida in the middle of August!). My mother's sneakers never recovered from that day...they stayed wet even after we got home and she put them in the dryer a few times!

OK, another story.......

In July 2008, we hit rain twice...once was in the afternoon at MK. We had gone into Philharmagic, and when we came out it had been pouring...the stroller was soaked and there was a huge puddle of water inside it! We managed to dry it a little, but the cloth seat cover had absorbed a lot of water already. We ran into Pinocchio's Village Haus even though we did not eat there. We waited for it to let up. We had to make our way to LTT for a dinner ADR. When it finally started to let up, we decided to make a run for it. We had no choice but to put our little one in the stroller because he wasn't walking yet...he got wet but not too bad and it was really hot so I don't think he minded. We got to our ADR, a little wet, but we made it and had a great time!

Same trip, at DHS...it was early afternoon and DH went on ToT while I waited with the kids. They started to fall asleep in the double stroller. I heard thunder. I walked really fast to a store and then it started to pour. DH texted me that he finished his ride but would wait it out over there. I had all the ponchos with me in the stroller! About 45 minutes later, DH texted me that he was gonna make a run for it and meet me at the store. The rain got much lighter. He met us, and we made our way out of the park. The kids slept through all of this until we were leaving the park! That afternoon and evening it continued raining. We went to 1900 Park Fare at the GF Resort for dinner and it was still raining when we got there AND when we finished!

OK, now that storytime is over......

As for the heat, we get to the parks VERY early in the morning and take a break by 2PM the latest. That is when the parks are the hottest and the most crowded, I find. We go back in the evening if we have an ADR for dinner. If not, we go to a resort for dinner. But keep in mind, we have little ones and if they were much older we would probably return to the park no matter what.

Sorry this is so long!! I just had to tell my summer WDW weather stories!!!

I have added you to the list on page 55. If you have ADRs, Nikki can post them too if you would like. We stayed at CBR last summer - we were in a Pirate room in Trinidad South. It was a good distance from the main building where the food court is. You might want to request a building that is a little closer to Old Port Royale. They do have shuttle buses, but the loop around takes several minutes. Overall, we loved the resort. We had a car so we drove, but I think it would have been a little inconvenient if we did not have our car.

Welcome!!! Have you made your ADRs yet? There is a looong list on the top of page 7. Last year, we used it to meet some other DISers. I won't be there the same time as either of you, but I'm sure there will be others that want to meet up! If you want to post your ADR dates and times, I'll be happy to add you to the list!

DH and I will be there from the 1st to the 8th. This will be our 6th trip together, the 4th in the summer. We really debated for a while if we should do be there for the 4th and there were lost of cons but also many many reasons why we just HAD to do it. Our APs expire the 18th, we have no children to bog us down (haha), we've done summer before so we're prepared for heat and crowds, this will probably be our only chance to do the 4th and mostly because we are good planners and we really think we can do it and still have a blast!

We stayed at the Poly last year on our honeymoon and it was wonderful!

So glad you joined! Welcome!! I have added you to the list on page 55. Getting together for a meal sounds fun - unfortunately, we will not be there when you are. I have often thought it would be fun to get a group to go to Teppan Edo - DH does not like sitting with people he does not know - but I think Dissers would be ok!!

Any thoughts / suggestions.

The thread was started by someone who then changed plans and is no longer going in July, so I had to start a new list in order to be able to update it. Sorry for any confusion.

If you have ADRs and would like to post them, Nikki can add you to that list which is also on page 55.

kra623 - if you are looking for a weekend place, Mousesavers has good rates on Buena Vista Suites. It is only about a mile off property. We are staying there next week for spring break. It is a 2 room suite with a microwave and fridge and free breakfast.
