*~*~*~*Official January 2017 Thread*~*~*~*~

It'll be our first time at Disney in the winter (usually go in the summer), so I've been at a loss when it comes to packing. We've usually just used ponchos, but would raincoats be more handy in January? I've read that it can a little chilly; but is a fleece enough? I'm sure I'm not the only one already thinking of packing!
we were there one year in january when it was foggy and chilly all day, almost everyday, highs barely got out of the 50s on many days. We are used to cold weather, but were wearing gloves/scarves etc.

FWIW, noticed that there's going to be a 5K run at EPCOT on 1/28 @ 7am (associated with the Pro-Bowl). People have predicted that the parade of ProBowlers at MK will also be on 1/28 (afternoon), with some sort of festivities to follow @ disney springs. I haven't seen any confirmation of the date/time of the parade yet. I expect the impact on EPCOT would be small, but 1/28 could be a good day to avoid MK, unless you want to see the parade, of course.

1/28 is my arrival day and I'm planning on doing Epcot because of the assumption/educated guess by me and many others that the Pro Bowl parade will be at MK on that day. Hopefully you're right and Epcot won't be too crowded!

I'm glad we're checking out on the 28th! We're making one last stop at Universal that day and then heading home!

That is definitely a bummer. 1/28 is our first park day and we are doing Magic Kingdom. Wanted it to be our little guys first park and the rest of the week just worked out that way. Luckily we have a PPO breakfast, and will utilize fastpass and we take afternoon breaks so we will be going hopefully before the parade gets underway. We dont have big nightime plans in Magic Kingdom, except BOG dinner so I'm hoping our impact will be small. Luckily we have a day later in the week we are doing Magic Kingdom also so if it's super busy we can make up for it. :) Plus I have a feeling my husband wouldn't mind seeing a few pro bowlers.

Just booked a trip this afternoon! It was a last minute decision, literally 2 days ago my DH suggested a trip to Disney and today I booked it! We will be at the Caribbean beach resort January 14-20th. Me, dd, Dd14 and dd10. My youngest dd doesn't know, I'm hoping I can keep it a secret and surprise her at x-mas! Ds17 is opting out this time, he said he doesn't need to go to Disney again and would rather stay home! Got the dining plan for the first time so now I need to decide which parks we will be at each day and make dinner reservations, yay so excited!
Changed our reservation. We are now staying at Bonnet creek from January 14-21. Me and my 14 year old really were excited to stay at Caribbean beach and try the dining plan but my DH couldn't get past all four of us sharing a room. We always get 2 bedroom condos when we travel and the only time we stayed on property was 9 years ago with much younger kids and we had two connecting rooms at Pop. I'm still excited though!

I can completely relate! I usually travel with my two daughters and we ALWAYS stay on site, but when the whole family goes, we stay off site. Hubby doesn't like hotel rooms and certainly not when we put all 6 of us in them! lol We have stayed a few times at the AOA suites and even those made him claustrophobic. He likes to have his sofa and a coffee maker and a washer and dryer.

I do admit I like that washer and dryer too! I know some people don't like to do laundry on vacation but I love being able to throw a load on each night. Plus while we usually only cook maybe one night it's nice being able to make quick breakfasts in the morning and for the family to spead out.

Just booked this morning! The flight deals were too good to pass up. We're staying at CBR from the 16th to the 25th! It's our first time at CBR and our fourth trip as a family. My mom is coming along, but got her own room and will only stay half the time. I'm soooo excited! we just went in april...I wish I would've done APs!

Up bright and early this morning!! Booking our FP in 15 minutes!!! :yay:
Us too! (just now realized we are arriving on the same day) We got everything we wanted, though other than the new super popular rides (7DMT, FEA) I wasn't too worried about it. Now we are actually able to sketch out our days, not quite minute by minute but more "Future World in the morning, World Showcase in the afternoon" type of plans.

Also put in our room requests with DVC and store-bought magic bands have begun arriving (our daughter saw the Descendants band and had to have it, which my wife was happy about since they were fighting over the Marie one). Odds are the Christmas season will fly by like always and it will be less than three weeks when we are sitting down to watch the New Years Eve NCAA playoff games. Always seems strange when something that has been planned for years comes down to the final weeks, almost unreal that it is finally coming to fruition.

Magic Kingdom is now open till 8pm on Monday, January 23 & has Wishes at 8pm. It was originally closing at 6pm with no fireworks. Just saw this on Disney's website when I was making my FastPass reservations.

55 days!!!! Just got a random burst of Disney excitement :hyper:
I hate to wish the holidays away, but...............

I'm at 67 days and getting anxious about making FP+ in a week. I never have a problem with getting the FP+ I want, but that doesn't stop my Type-A anxiety from kicking in every time. When they announced the new Epcot festival yesterday, I ran the gamut of emotions...first I was annoyed that my planned Saturday at Epcot was now probably going to be significantly more busy than I anticipated, then I got excited when I realized Broadway was mentioned as one of the arts being featured. I think for now I've settled on excited (especially because I always seem to miss Flower & Garden AND Food & Wine).

Can't wait till the 30th so I can make my FP selections.:lovestruc:lovestruc First time for FP this way, so hopefully it will go well and the computer will work with me :flower:

When we made our FP reservations last Tuesday (15th) the website just kept spinning and spinning. We started trying right at 7AM EST but couldn't get through at all. I went right to the MDE app on my phone and made them all there in about 20 minutes for our whole stay. When I finished doing it on my phone, I tried clicking on FP on the website and it still kept spinning.

I was able to load our itinerary easily and it reflected our FP, but I still couldn't login to change FP on the website.

I guess my point is, be ready with the app in case the website seems overloaded.

Ok good to know, maybe I'll just plan on using the app to begin with

I did our FP on Monday on the computer with NO problems at all. Got everything I wanted. Plenty of selection, even for the popular rides like Frozen and Mine Train.
