Official "I'm IN and I'm running the 2005 Half (full) Marathon!" thread

Some of you I do not have info for on the WISH WALKERS list! Please contact me at
kamgen@yahoo.com

I need email and other info to keep including people on emails! Thanks!

When does the marathon registration close usually? The reason I am asking is that I just don't know if I can run it... I don't want to walk it. I want to run it as much as I can, but just don't want to fail. I talked my dh into running it with me, as a personal challenge, but it would take a lot... babysitters for the kids at home, $$ for the trip itself (and we are going as a family in November), a ton of training... basically a lot of commitment, lol.

Any ideas of hotel costs? Can he get a special deal for a 3 day hopper? I will have my AP still. What special "things" are planned for the marathoners?

Thanks for any info. Just a bit nervous to take the plunge and register ($160 for both of us). :(

Karen

Ok, I am registered!! Woo hoo! I am so excited and scared at the same time.

Zakatak,

There is no failing here on the WISH board. We are all going to try and do our best, but if I get picked up by the man in the cart. I'm just going to enjoy the ride to the finish line.

That said, I am intended to train and hopefully complete the Marathon. The success to me is in the trying. I've never, and I mean never have attempted such a thing. My motto has always been that God gave us so many heartbeats in our lifetime and that we shouldn't waste a bunch of them running.

Hope to see you there.

zakatak--Please don't consider that you will fail if you do not run the entire 1/2 marathon. I think if you try and maybe don't "run" the entire amount that by participating you will have succeeded. You train your best this year and do your best whatever that is. As I understand, the 1/2 marathon filled up in about 4-6 weeks last time? Hope that you will be able to get things together and that you will be there with us.

I'm in and scared to death. I've never been much of a runner. Anyone know how fast the pase is to finish by walking or would you have to run some of the way to be able to finish. I really want to hit that finish line. Also, if you are using a tred mill what is the pase to set?

Hi JR,

I believe the regulation pace is 3.75 mph (for setting the treadmill) and you don't have to run at all, but you do have to maintain at least that pace through out.

Don't be scared! There are a lot of us beginners "hot to trot" :p

I think the pace has to be the maximum time of a 16 minute mile. I'm trying to aim for a 15 minute mile!!

It has been years since I did this much exercise - I did the March of Dimes walk 2 times (early 90's), but have now had 2 knee surgeries, and with the added weight, I'm nervous too!

But I know that......

WE CAN DO IT!!!!
