Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

so we haven't been to Disney Springs in 6 years and a lot has changed! We're eating at Raglan Road our first night and I know we'll take a bus from the GF to DS, but where does the bus drop off in relation to Raglan Road?

5 minute walk from the new bus drop off area.

I have been to Disney many times but this will be my first time "hopping". Is the park to park bus from MK to AK outside of the park entrance with the resort buses or do I have to take the ferry/monorail over to the TTC to catch the bus? Also, is there 1 bus per park destination or is it a park bus that makes stops at multiple parks? Thanks in advance for the information.

Yes, the buses to AK & DHS load at the MK bus depot, not the TTC, and there are separate buses for each park. Travel time is about 15 minutes, plus up to 20 minutes wait time.

I have a 8:35am BOG ADR on a day the MK opens at 9. I am staying at Fort Wilderness. My understanding is the boats start running 1 hr before park open, so 8am. I was hoping to be at the entrance around this time. I have also read that even though Disney says busses start 1 hr before park open there is usually a couple earlier ones for ADRs. Anyways since FW doesn't have MK bus service what should i do? Will the boats actually start sooner than 8? Does the boat to the Contemporary start earlier so I could go there and just walk to MK?

I can't speak to FW, but I believe that WL is handled the same way. They do share the resort boat.

We've found that the 1 hour rule is correct, but the WL FAQ thread says 30 min. They do not start running early, unless something has changed. The rope drop boat is popular, so if you aren't in the first group on the boat and have to wait for the second, you miss rope drop. Even getting on the first boat we have barely gotten through security in time for the preshow. So I don't think that is a good option.

The resort (Blue Flag) boat starts at 6:45-7:00am. That's what I would do.

We go to the boat dock and wait for an MK boat. If the CR boat comes first (before 8am it will), then hop over to get on the CR boat. There is usually hardly anyone waiting. Then allow a bit of time for the walk all the way to MK.

From WL, there is a bus to MK. It is unbelievably quick. I have no idea if FW has a bus.

There is an ADR bus that services the MK resorts for early mornings. Ask at checkin to see if they pickup at FW.

Yes, boat to CR is best bet, starting @ 6:45am. There is no bus from FtW to MK, not even early a.m. AFAIK.

I'm sorry, but I am overwhelmed with transportation and wondering if all my planning was not wise. Can anyone help me with transportation for the following scenarios?

We have a late breakfast at the Poly and then have Mickey's BBQ at FW that night. Does it make sense to go to BB in between to avoid having to go back and forth to Pop? What is the best way to get to FW from Pop and then back?

Does it make any sense to go to breakfast at the GF on a non-park day if I'm staying at Pop?

Does BB from Pop now require a bus transfer at AK?

I am doing Pirates and Pals so will be getting back to the Contemporary late. What is the best way to get back to Pop?

I am traveling with two small kids so I don't think cabs would ever work. Thanks so much.

On your Poly/FW day, I think that Pop or BB are equally out of the way. Personally I would just monorail to MK and then hop on the Pop bus. On the trip to FW, bus to MK and boat to FW from there. The boat drops you at the proper end of FW so you don't have another transfer. If you bus from BB to FW you will have to take the internal FW bus to the BBQ.

For the GF breakfast, depends how you want to spend that day. Again, use MK as your transfer point and you are just a monorail hop from GF.

Can't help with the BB route. Probably via AK either by a shared bus or a transfer.

For P&P, there will be buses running from MK back to Pop at least 1 hour past park closing. You should have plenty of time after Wishes to walk from CR to the MK bus stop and catch the Pop bus there.

I haven't been here for about 5 years, so I'm sure this has been asked more recently, so please forgive me in advance.
I will be going to MK at the end of Aug. for one day, staying with family off property. Is it still possible to park at any of the WDW resorts for free and take there transportation to MK? Or park at Disney Springs shopping and do the same? Thank you all for you advice!

No. It never has been "okay." You risk being towed. If you are visiting the resort, you are allowed to park for free while at that resort, but not allowed to leave the resort to go to a park. They enforce this with a three-hour rule.
Or park at Disney Springs shopping and do the same?
Sure, you can park at Disney Springs, but the only transportation available is to resorts, not to parks. So, you'll have to transfer at a resort, which means a trip of 90-120 minutes each way to avoid the parking charge.

Only the guests staying at a resort are entitled to park at the resort and head to a park. That had pretty much always been the case.
You can pay to valet park, and then you could head to a park. But self-parking for park access is frowned upon.
Buses run between the resists and DS only. You could park then and take a resort bus to a resort close to MK, and then head to MK. But, that is time consuming.
Much better to either pay to park at the TTC for MK access, or pay to valet at the CR.

Help please! We are currently at GF and I had no idea there are no buses to Epcot. We have a PPO BF at GG in the morning. I plan to check with the front desk about a breakfast bus to Epcot in the AM. If that is a no-go, what is the best alternative using Disney transportation? TIA

So, as there are 231 pages in this forum, and i am not up for sifting through all the posts, I thought I'd ask if there is an app or something where you can plug in a starting point and a destination and have transportation recommendations pop out? Currently, my 2 scenarios where I need to be on top of transportation are:
Fort Wilderness to Chef Mickey's, (Contemporary ) and
Fort Wilderness to Crystal Palace (MK)
Both for breakfast. Last time we went was in 2012, and I recall taking the ferry from FW to MK, and to get to the Contemporary, hopping a monorail from MK. I also want to make sure we allow enough time for travel so we don't miss our ADRs.

Well, your official transportation option is monorail to TTC and then monorail to Epcot. Will take some time, and there are closures off and on through the week. Best to ask the front desk and allow a lot of time for that one. PPO makes it difficult.
For myself, I would Uber or call a taxi. The bellmen will help. It should be a quick cheap trip. Hopefully you don't need a carseat.
Any other route I can come up with is no faster or easier than the monorail. Surely someone with GF experience will come along with a suggestion.

There is no app I'm aware. There is an old engine on a website that is not up to date and often incorrect, so I will not post a link.

Fort Wilderness to Chef Mickey's - take a RESORT boat to CR (not the MK boat). Walk up the stairs in the CR and you're there. Super easy. You may wait up to 20 min for a boat. They start by 7am. The ride is 15 min if they stop at WL first. Your monorail route will work, but the boat to MK starts later.

FW to CP - depends on what time. The boat to MK starts 30min prior to park opening. I'm not sure if there is a bus option. See this post above for an alternative - Boat to CR and then walk to MK.

Our CP reservation is for 8:15, and the park opens at 9:00. So, it sounds as though the resort boat to CR would be our best bet.

This one should be easy. OKW to FW for HDDR at 4:30 show

We will have access to a car...best to drive or take Disney trans?

A) Bus to MK and boat to FW. Drops you right at the area where the HDDR is.

B) drive to FW. It's quite close to OKW. However, you will park and ride the internal FW shuttle bus to be dropped off near HDDR.

I believe alcohol is included at HDDR. Consider your driving plans if you use your own car.

Thanks. Yes, alcohol (beer and sangria I believe) is included

I prefer option A, but my brother (who will have the car/van) hates Disney transportation. Great thread
