Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

What is the most time efficient way to get to Trails End? I've heard it takes 1 to 2 hours to get there. We have the option of taking the boat from MK, parking at Wilderness Lodge, or just about any other choice really. Its our first time going and I've not been able to find any info on the times it takes for the different routes other than the boat at MK only comes once every 30 minutes.
If you can park at WL, you can take the bus to Fort Wilderness. The bus runs about every 15 minutes, and it's less than a 5-minute ride directly to the Settlement, where Trails End is located in Pioneer Hall.

But I'm not sure that WL parking is not restricted to resort guests and guests with reservations at the Lodge. If Security redirects you to park at Fort Wilderness, it'll be about a 10-minute drive to the Outpost, and then a 12-minute ride to the Settlement on a bus that runs on average every 5-10 minutes.

Thank you so much. I also forgot to mention we have a 1 night stay at the campsites too. Not sure where we park for those or if we could drive any closer since we have a stay there. Knowing the times of the bus drives helps a lot though. Much appreciated!

You're welcome!

There's no Guest parking at the Settlement. If you're checked in at the campground, you're expected to leave your car at your campsite or the Outpost, and use the internal buses or a golf cart to get around. The individual internal bus routes run about every 15 minutes, and the ride time to the Settlement will depend on your campsite location, but normally less than 12 minutes unless there's a delay for wheelchair loading or something else.

My family and I are staying at the GF early next year. I know that you can walk to the Poly from the GF through the walkway connecting the two. You can then walk from the Poly to the TTC. Is it possible to walk from the GF to the Poly to the TTC? Would that be a faster way to get to Epcot than to take the resort monorail and switch monorails?

You could walk all the way, but I don't think it would save you any time over the monorail.

The full Resort Monorail loop takes 15-20 minutes, so Poly to TTC is probably 10-15. The Resort Monorails run about every 5 minutes.

The walk would be almost a mile, so the average walker would take 15-20 minutes; a slow walker might take 25.

We're staying at CBR and have an 8:15am Kona ADR for breakfast. MK opens at 8am for an early EMH. Will be buses start running at 7am to MK that day? Is it reasonable to think we'd make that ADR in time by taking bus to MK then monorail or boat to Poly?

Also, on another day when MK opens at 9 am we have an 8:30 am ADR at BOG. I'm wondering if we should take a taxi to CR then walk to MK for the ADR or would the bus get us there in time?

The buses will be running by 6:30am, every day. For an 8:15 adr at Kona, I would be out at the bus stop no later than 7! Ask the bus driver which way is faster to the Polynesian....boat or monorail. You may get lucky and the driver will take you there on the way out of the MK area. If not, I would go with the monorail.
For your BOG adr, I would take the bus to MK...be at the bus stop by 7:30.

From a transportation aspect, is this doable:

1. Eat at Coral Reef at 4 pm (allow up to 2 hours) - PH to DHS at 6 pm (at the latest) for 7 pm Fantasmic (would driving or taking bus be faster)? (Wouldn't work if it's really crowded and show is full, but Nov 11 is recommended at DHS.)

2. After Fantasmic, PH to MK and get there by 9 for MSEP (might end up with a bad viewing spot). The bus from DHS to MK takes you outside the gates to MK right? (not to the TTC)

1. It has never taken me close to 2 hrs to eat at Coral Reef...one of my favorites by the way!! I don't rush, but I don't tend to linger either.....I'm usually ready to leave after a bit more than an hour. I would just walk out the back door, International Gateway, and take the boat to DHS. You could drive or take the bus. If you got lucky, and the bus was either there, waiting, or arrived in a few minutes, then that would be fairly quick as well. I would think you would be out of dinner by 5:30 at the latest, giving you plenty of time to get to DHS.

2. This one could be tight. Yes, you are dropped off close to the gates, same as the resort buses. But, it always takes a bit of time to get out of Fantasmic!, especially if you're close to the bottom of the viewing area, or off to the far side. Then, it's a swarm of people getting out of there!!! You might make it by 8:45 but I wouldn't count on getting there much sooner.

Thanks! Your advice was very helpful, and I completely forgot about the boat between Epcot and DHS.

Please help me verify my thinking on our times and transportation (we are staying at AoA; 3 adults/3 kids 7,3,1):

1. 9/19 - CRT at 8:20am, be at bus stop by 7am, bus to MK.
2. 9/21 - BOG breakfast 9:55am, be at AoA bus stop by 8:30am, bus to MK. After breakfast, take Monorail to EPCOT. (would walking to CR and bus to EPCOT be much faster?)
3. 9/21 - want to get from EP to HS for 5:15 IJ show, boat from EP at 4pm. (would walking be faster?)
4. 9/22 - Kona at 9:10am, be at AoA bus stop by 8am, bus to MK, then walk/monorail/boat(?) to Poly.
5. 9/23 - CM at 10am, be at bus stop by 8:45am, bus to MK, walk to CR. After breakfast, bus from CR to HS.
6. 9/24 - BOG at 8:40pm, AoA bus stop by 7:30, bus to MK.
7. 9/25 - BBB at 8am, would 7am bus stop be cutting it too close?
8. 9/26 - 1900 PF at 10:45am, AoA bus stop by 9:30, bus to MK, then monorail(?) to GF.

Any advice is welcome!

1. That should work just fine.
2. Timing is fine. But, there are no Epcot buses at the CR..you have to take the monorail. So, get the monorail to the TTC and then transfer to the Epcot line.
3. To be at DHS, for 5:15, you should be at bag check by 5, earlier if possible. So, being at the boat by 4 will work. Walking is faster, but with little ones, it could be too much. I would just take the boat.
4. Sounds good. You can't walk to the Polynesian...either boat or monorail. You can ask the bus driver, when you board, which is faster...sometimes they will offer to drop you at the Polynesian on the way away from MK! Not always, but sometimes. If not, either the boat or monorail is good.
5. If MK opens at 9 that day, you will have a lot of company waiting for that bus. I would try to be out there a bit earlier...maybe 8:30. That way, if you miss getting on a bus,you have plenty of time.
6. Sounds good.
7. I would be out a bit earlier...say 6:45, just in case.
8. Sounds good. If the boat is there, I would go with the boat. It stops at the GF first, and drops you on the same level as 1900 Park Fare!

My biggest issue is the 21st. That's a lot of moving around, between parks, with youngsters. I would almost forgo breakfast at BoG and eat in the food court, then head directly to Epcot. But, that's up to you!

Thanks for all your help! We've had lots of discussion about the 21st... It started as EPCOT day #2, then added BOG, then thought we needed more time at HS. At this point I'm willing to give up EPCOT that day. IMO we will barely be anywhere long enough to do anything, but I'm out voted. We'll see how we feel when we get there.

We'd like to go to Boardwalk one night after EPCOT closes. I just found out buses don't go btwn resorts. All the parks will be closed by the time we are done at Boardwalk. Is the only way back to AKL taking a bus from BW to DTD and then getting a bus to AKL? How long would that take? If we have to take a cab will BW arrange it for us or do I have to do it? Does anyone have the name of a local cab company? How long does it take a cab to get to the hotel?
THANKS!

You have two choices....
1. Bus to DTD and transfer to AKL bus. That could take 90+ mins.
2. Ca from BW. That would take about 15-20 mins total. Just walk thru BW, out the front entrance to the valet area to the left of the entrance. Tell them you need to get back to AKL. They will get you a cab.

I am wondering about transportation from the Pirate and Pals Firework cruise back to the Animal Kingdom Lodge? I believe we get dropped off at the Contemporary and will need to get back to MK to take the bus. How bad of a walk is it? We'll have a 3 yr old and 5 yr old in tow? Is there a chance we'll miss the last bus if we have to wait in line to meet Peter Pan after the cruise? Are we better off just getting a cab? I had booked the Pirate Cruise for the last night of our January trip because we were staying at the Wilderness Lodge and thought it'd be a nice way to end our trip. But, because of the construction we've switched to the AKL so I'm trying to decide if I should keep the cruise or maybe do the wishes dessert party, or skip both and just get a fast pass for wishes. TIA!

You shouldn't have an issue. Buses continue running at least 90 mins after the park closes. The walk is very easy...under 10 mins. Just walk out of the CR, stay to the right, follow beneath the monorail line, on the sidewalk. Cross the street, using pedestrian button, and you're just about there.
