Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

I need to know easiest way to get from CR to POR for checkin, we're doing a split stay.

My family & l are staying at PO Riverside, we have a car. We plan to have breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian then spend rest of day at Epcot. Would it be best to park car at Grand Floridian then take car to Epcot or park at TTC & use monorail (going back to TTC to get car at end of day). Do you pay for parking at Grand Floridian? Thanks for any advice.

The easiest way is to take a cab. You can look up cab fare at taxifarefinder.com

If you don't want to pay for a cab, my advice would be to give your luggage to bell services in the morning and ask them to transfer it to POR. Then go to the park for the day. When you're done, go to POR and check in.

Easiest? A cab. That way you have your luggage with you. If you don't want to use a cab....hand your bags off to Bell Services when you're ready to leave the CR. then walk over to the MK and take a bus to POR. The only problem with this method is that you probably won't have your bags available to you until late afternoon/early evening.

I would drive to the GF, have breakfast, then drive to Epcot. Much less time consuming than driving to the TTC, parking, taking the monorail to the GF, then monorail back to TTC, and monorail to Epcot. Then monorail back to the TTC at the end of the day, and driving to POR.
There is no charge to park at the GF. Just head there, park, eat and then drive to Epcot.
The alternative would be to take the bus to the MK, then either the monorail or boat to GF. Then monorail to Epcot, and bus back to POR at the end of the day.

Staying at WL with a pre-park opening ADR at CP. How do I get to MK? I have read that the MK boat won't be running at that time, but can I do the boat to CR and then monorail? Will they both be running at 7ish am?

Side question: I always drive everywhere around WDW, but this is my first time staying in MK resort area and I think it makes more sense (faster) to not drive to TTC and then ferry/monorail to MK. Am I right in that thinking?

Yes, the boat to CR starts running at 6:45. The Resort Monorail opens at 7, but it would be faster to walk the half mile from CR to MK, on the available walkway.

It doesn't make much sense to drive to TTC if you're going to MK. In addition to the boats, there is a bus directly to MK, but I'm not sure what time it starts up.

Are there still buses between the parks? We want to go from MK to HS.

Also, are there any good websites for estimating travel times between disney hotels and parks, etc.?

Yes, there are still buses betwee the parks, except MK/Epcot obviously requires the monorail with a change at the TTC.

Good websites? As in accurate, current, sensible, with existig routes? No. The Unofficial Guide has an accurate comparison chart; this thread was created to provide the best, most accurate iformation possibke. What do you want to know?

There is now a bus that runs right from the MK bus area to DHS. No more going to the TTC to get to DHS or AK! So nice.

As far as a site that will give you accurate travel info goes....nope.. Why? There are just too many variables to be able to say 'it takes 20 mins to get to MK from BW'. Yes, there is a pretty much set time to get from point a to point b. But...that's going to change depending on when a bus comes along. You could walk up to the bus stop, just as a bus is pulling in. Then, your bus could possibly go directly to the park....best case scenario. BUT....you could walk up to the stop, just as the bus you wanted, pulls away. Once they close their doors and start to move, they are not allowed to stop for late arriving guests. So, you could be waiting up to 20 or so minutes or so.
Most say to allow an hour to get from a resort to a park. Same going from park to park. Resort to resort is more like 90 mins. Yes, it can take less time. Vut it's better to arrive early than to obsess over being late for something.

What is the quickest and easiest way to get from AK to Fort Wilderness? I want to do Hoop Dee Do for dinner on our AK day. Assuming AK closes at 5 (or we leave at 5) can I make it there on time for a 6:15 show? We will have a car if that matters. Thanks in advance.

You could drive to FtW and leave the car at the entrance area, then take an internal bus to the HDDR area. That 'should' take about 30 mins, but could be longer if there is a wait for the bus. If it were me, I would bus to AK, then take the bus to MK and transfer to the FtW/WL boat. The boat drops you right at the base of the path up to Pioneer Hall. That might take longer though..wait for the bus to MK, wait for the boat to FtW. I just find it an easy way to go, and very relaxing.

Easiest way to get from Boardwalk to Pop century at 2am closing... TIA
Here's the reason why a cab is your best bet. You can get a bus back to Pop at this time. BUT...there is no way of telling how long it will take. The bus may very well make many stops at other resorts. One would think, though, that because Pop is so close to BW that it would be a fairly short ride. But, as with all things Disney, who knows? A cab will run you less than $15 and it will take less than 10 mins to get there.

Staying at POR 3/18-3/25. I was not planning on renting a car, but after planning our itinerary, I may need something other than Disney transportation. Thoughts??

1. Animal Kingdom to AK Lodge, then planning to stay there for animal viewing, campfire/smores, Electrical Water Pageant at 9:45. How would I get back to POR?

2. POR to Fort Wilderness, 8:30 MDR at Hoop Dee Doo, then return to POR around 10:30?

3. POR to Poly, 9:00 MDR at Ohana, then return to POR, time?

Thanks in advance, this thread is amazing!

Thank you for the reply. We may take the boat- sounds nice.

1. Bus to any open park then bus to POR. Alternatively, bus to Downtown Disney then boat or bus to POR. There's no water pageant of any kind at AKL.

2. Bus to MK, boat to FW, walk up path to Pioneer Hall. Allow 90 minutes total. Return trip will be via shared bus waiting right near Pioneer Hall when you exit. Time will depend on number of resorts and route.

3. Bus to MK, monorail or launch to Polynesian. Again, Disney strongly suggests allowing 90 minutes. Return trip is the reverse if MK is open, or bus/boat advice as in step 1.

Whoops, got my notes mixed up, was thinking Fort Wilderness to see the water pageant. Thank you for the help.
