Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Hello!

I've enjoyed reading through this thread. I just have one question- we are staying at POP Jan 22-26th and plan on spending a night or two bumming around Downtown Disney. Will be still be able to catch a bus back to POP, as DTD doesn't 'close' till 11p?

Thanks!

Buses run from DTD until 2:00 am.

We are going to the dark side this spring ;), and staying at Universal. We will make a couple trips to Disney, plan to take taxis. I am hoping someone can answer a couple of questions I have related to this.

We need to get to Disney way early - maybe about 7 am so we can be ready for the non-resort entry (they have EMH every morning at MK). My concern is there are 5 of us :grouphug:- one large adult male, two medium adult females, and two skinny teenagers, each the height of an adult. Can we walk out of HRH and catch a taxi that can hold 5 adults at like 6:30 am? Or would this require special arrangements?

To return that night from MK, I was thinking either Contemporary or TTC. At the Contemporary they could probably call for a taxi, but not sure if they are usually at the TTC and how late they stay there. The second night we will be leaving from DTD and figure there would be taxis there. Again, with both of these the concerns are if we can find a taxi and if it will fit 5 adults:confused:.

Any help would be most appreciated :goodvibes ! This is new territory, and I haven't been able to figure out exactly how to manage this. Renting a car, with rental fees and parking fees, would cost way more than splitting a taxi between us for a couple of days.

Thanks!

Can someone please tell me some options to get from the Boardwalk to POFQ?

  1. If DHS is open, walk or take boat to DHS, then bus to POFQ.
  2. If MK is open, bus to MK, then bus to POFQ.
  3. After both are closed, bus to DTD, then boat (until 11 p.m.) or bus (until 2 a.m.) to POFQ.
Or taxi, about $10 for 4 people, or up to 7 people in a taxi van.

Know nothing about taxis at Universal.

TTC, DTD, & CR should all have taxi vans available that hold up to 7 people.

We have a little princess makeover in Magic Kingdom at 3:00 and a character diner reservation in Epcot's Norway at 5:00. Since I won't have a lot of time, what is the quickest way to get there?

I would take a cab. Even then you may not make it. BBB tends to run behind in the afternoons. If there's any way to move one of the reservations, I would do that.

Have to agree with Alesia....it's gonna be very tight, and more than likely you will be late getting to Akershus. BBB gets very busy, and gets backed up. I would also recommend trying to move the Akershus ADR up a bit....closer to 6 if at all possible. You need to plan on about an hour total to get from point A to point B in the parks. You would have to leave BBB, and get to the CR (best spot to get a cab)...that is going to take you about 20 mins....Castle to CR. Then the cab ride is going to be 15 mins....I would go to BC, rather than the front of Epcot. Then, 15-20 mins total from BC to Norway. So, right there is an hour. Can it be done? Sure, but only if you're done at BBB no later than 3:45. And to be honest, I wouldn't want the stress of worrying about being late for an ADR.

Thanks for the quick responses. I was able to move the dinner reservation to 6:35. Should I still be looking at taking the cab?

Much better time. Okay.....you can judge that when you get out of the BBB experience. You can take the monorail over to Epcot and then walk through Epcot, over to WS and Norway.....that takes about an hour.
Or, you can take a bus, from MK, to BC (Beach Club). Get off the bus at BC, walk through the lobby area, to the back of the resort. When you get to the walkway, go left. Follow the walkway to the International Gateway, the back door into Epcot. Then, head to Norway. This is probably a bit faster than takiing the monorail.
As long as you are at Akershus by 6:15 to checkin, you'll be fine. So....you need to leave MK around 5ish....that should give you plenty of time to get over to Norway, and you shouldn't have to worry about BBB taking longer than 2 hrs!!
'If' it did take longer, then sure, take a cab. But, I find that getting around WDW, via their transportation system, is fun. Yes, it can be longer than a cab, but if time isn't of the essence, then use the buses, boats, and monorails.

Our flight lands in MCO at 2:15PM. We are staying at POR and planning to use ME to get there. DH wants to go to DTD (Hess) to pick up some beer. We have dinner reservations at Ohana at 6:55PM. Will we be able to boat to DTD, get (hopefully warm) beer, then catch a bus from DTD to Poly to make it for our dinner reservation? If beer is cold will there be time to boat back to POR to stick it in the fridge? Otherwise DH will have to wait until after dinner. Then we could take bus to DTD from Poly and boat back to POR.

2nd - what's the best way to get from the Poly to the Boardwalk? This would be happening in the morning so everything is open. I'm thinking walk to TTC, monorail to MK, then bus to Boardwalk?

Renting a car is sounding better and better!

If your flight lands ontime at 2:15, you can figure on being at POR by 3:45. You could possibly make it to DTD to buy beer and get back to POR to store it. But, you can also take a bus directly to the Polynesian from DTD. That would be the best idea. But, if he can wait until after dinner, then you don't have to worry about lugging beer to dinner with you.

To get to the Boardwalk, two choices....either take the boat over to MK from the Polynesian. It runs between MK, GF and Poly. When it leaves the Poly, it goes to the MK. Then, take the BW bus to Boardwalk.
Or...monorail over to MK from the Polynesian and then bus to BW. No need to walk to the TTC.

Thanks for this thread.
it makes it so much easier to know whether there is a bus from one park to another or if you have to have to figure another way to get from A to B.
There are so many pages, could someone direct me to the links for the parks to the water parks or Downtown disney???:surfweb:

There is no direct Disney transportation between the park and DTD or the water parks.

Buses run between DTD and the resorts. Same thing for the water parks. If you are at a park and want to get to either DTD or a water park, you will have to head to a resort first..then get a bus to either destination.

There is no direct transportation between the parks & TL, but there is some for BB.

Direct buses run between BB and Epcot, and between BB & DHS. The Epcot buses run late, serving Winter-Summerland after BB has closed for the day.

There are also buses between BB & AK, but going from BB to AK in the late afternoon can sometimes be challenging.

There is no direct bus between BB and TTC or MK.

Learn something new every day. Let me ask you a question then. If I'm staying at BW, I would, I imagine, have to walk through Epcot, get a bus to BB to get to Winter-Summerland. But, then what happens when I want to return to BW??? Is it dependent on Epcot hours?? Just curious.

Interesting, I'm sure those looking to avoid parking fees at those three parks will appreciate that information.

Anyone who seeks to avoid parking fees is going to be for a huge surprise when they try to use the water parks or DTD for parking. There is no easy or quick way to do this. So, if these people want to avoid parking fees and give up that much park time, I guess it's up to them. I figure that if you can't afford to park, you have bigger issues. If you need to avoid parking fees, then you may want to rethink spending the money to go into the parks. But, that's just me.
It takes so much time to get to a park using this method. In all seriousness, I think people are going to use the resort lots to get into DHS and Epcot without paying to park...not the water parks.
