Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

We are staying at AKL and have an 8:15 reservation at Shula's tonight. We don't want to drive as we may enjoy a cocktail or three after dinner. We make take a taxi, but are wondering what our other options are. We also may want to go over to the Boardwalk after after dinner, can you walk there relatively easily? Thanks for any assisstance.

You could take the bus to DHS, then either boat or walk to Shula's from there. The walk is under 20 mins, the boat ride is about that plus any wait times for the boat to arrive.
Taking a cab after dinner is a good idea. If you didn't, you would have to find either an open park and head there to transfer to the AKL bus, or head to DTD and transfer there...something to be avoided.
Walking to the BW area is quite easy...leave the Dolphin via the 'back door' (so to speak), head to the left and over the bridge. As you head down the bridge, you will see the back entrance to BW..this is also where the walkway to DHS starts.
If you decide to check out the BW area after dinner, I would recommend getting a cab back to AKL there.

I have been to Disney several times but I have just become a DVC owner and the later part of our vacation we will be staying at OKW. Here is my question: we are planning on going to the party after 5:30 rsv at Cali Grill. What would the best situation to get to dinner. Boat to Downtown to Contemp bus or MK bus and them monerial? Due to medical issues my hubby and I will both be in scooters this year and we have a 12 year old son. So just taking our car would be tough because we can't fit both scooters. Also what about breakfast at kona and mk all day and epcot and other parks. Is there any tricks to getting transportation with scooters?

A few questions for you experts! We will be arriving a week from tonight, can't wait!

1. How much time should I plan to get from MK to HDDR? We are planning on taking the boat, assuming that is the most direct way.

2. We have 8 am reservations @ Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, on a day when MK opens @ 9. What time should we plan to leave ASMu? Will be busses be running early enough? When do they start running?

3. We have dinner ADRs @ Boma for 6:45 on a night when AK closes @ 7. Assuming we want to head back to ASMu after dinner, what is the most direct way to get there?

Thanks!!

Sorry, I'm not that familiar with the boats.

Allow 1 hour, including bus wait time. Buses start around 6:30 a.m.

Change at Epcot or DHS (unless you want to hire a taxi.)

What is the best way to get from the S/D to the Contemporary for breakfast at Chef Mickey's?

This will probably be after my wedding ceremony. I have NO idea how many people or times etc. I just want to know if this would even be a possibility before I get my hopes up.

Using Disney Transport, that would be a bus to the MK. From there, it's a 10-minute walk to the CR, or you can ride the Resort Monorail. Anytime after 7:30 should be OK, and you should allow 1 hour travel time.

Or you can hire taxis. Seven can squeeze into a taxi van, which charges the same fare as a sedan taxi. Swan to CR will probably be about $15 per taxi.

There always seems to be lots of Mears limos lined up in front of the S & D. I don't know what the deal is; maybe they hire out like taxis. You might check with the hotel.

We are staying at CSR, and we will have our own car. On one of our MK days, we plan on finishing up at HDDR. What are your thoughts on the best way to get around on this day (from CSR to MK to FW back to CSR)? Thanks

We are taking our 3 year old daughter for our first trip Dec. 11. Our first full day there we have Cinderella's Royal Table at 8:15 am and we are staying at Pop Century.

How early should we get on the bus and get to the park? Thanks for your advice!

AKV to International Gateway (at least I think that is what it is called!)

We are staying at AKV. I'd like to enter Epcot through the World Showcase entrance. We never seem to make it around the countries because of all of the fun things to do on the way there. I thought if we'd start there, we might have a better shot

I know the walkway comes from Beach Club, but what is the best way to get there from AKV? We like to try all types of transportation at WDW, but we don't want to take 4 hours to get there :headache:

Thanks for the help!

Not an easy thing to do. Your best bet would be to take the AKL bus to AK, and then transfer to the YC/BC bus, then walk to the Intl Gateway. Since WS doesn't even open until 11, it shouldn't be a huge issue making the bus transfer.

Another route that you could try is taking the bus to DHS & catching the boat to Epcot (WS) -- but that could take easily an hour or more, 20+ minutes for the bus + 25+ minutes for the boat, since the boat stops at all the Epcot area resorts.

Since WS doesn't open til 11, I still might just take the bus to the front of Epcot in the AM & @ 11AM walk back to WS, as it typically doesn't start hopping until people get hungry for lunch. ;)

Or a slightly faster alternative, assuming you're up to walking, would be to take the bus from AKV to DHS and then walk to Epcot.

Anyway you go about it is going to take about an hour. You would be better off taking the bus from AKV to Epcot and just making sure you head back to the WS at 11:00.

Thanks for all of the ideas! :thumbsup2 Not sure which way we will go, but now I know how to get there! :worship:

We will be at HS past closing for a private group event. HS closes at 10 pm that night, and the estimated end for the event is 11:45 pm (last stop is private showing of Osborne Lights).

I'm assuming that we should take a taxi back to the Poly after the event. Where is the best place to pick up a taxi? Will we be able to find one at the HS entrance that late?

Thanks for your help!

ETA: NM - I think we may be able to take the bus after the event.

Probably not, unless the event organizer has made arrangements.

You can call for one at 407-422-2222. The taxi stand is to the right as you leave the park, in the parking lot past bus load zone 14. Or maybe they'll pick you up right near the entrance, if bus service has stopped.

You could also walk to the Boardwalk and get a taxi there; they might still be around without having to wait for a called one. It's about a mile walk along the canal. The walkway starts on the opposite side of the lagoon from the park entrance (near bus stop 23).

I tried to search for an answer to my question, seems this one hasn't been asked yet. We need to get from Wyndham Bonnet Creek to the Poly for an early ADR at O'hana..it's at 7:45 AM. We have a car, we know how to get there...but it's Marathon weekend and it Sunday morning. I think I may have made an error in scheduling the ADR this morning. I hear it's pretty horrible getting around that day. So, my question is..how do I find out what route to take that morning? Is there a central map somewhere to see what's closed and what are our best alternatives? Thanks for any help you can offer!

The road closures are usually released a week or two before the weekend. Seven Seas Drive, where the entrance to the Poly is located, is probably the most congested road during the race. I think your best bet is to park in the MK parking lot and walk from the TTC to the Poly.

Looking at the course map, it looks like the Sunday morning racers will only be running on the southbound side of World Dr., so the normal route to the MK parking should be open. You would simply turn left off the exit road from Bonnet Creek (Chelonia Pkwy) onto Buena Vista Dr., and then go past DHS and right on World Dr. northbound to MK parking. You may be lucky enough to bypass most of the congestion, but allow at least an hour, maybe 90 minutes, to be safe. That will also get you to your destination well before MK day guests start arriving, which is when the congestion peaks.

If I'm trying to go from DHS to DTD which stop should I get off at when we reach Saratoga Springs if I just want to walk over? And about how long would the walk take?

Is there a faster way you can think of?

Thanks!

Stephanie
