Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

We need to get from POP to MK by 7:15 am for a tour on a day that MK opens at 9:00. CM on the phone said the buses do not start running that early and we will need to find our own transportation to Contemporary, and then walk to MK. I thought the buses started at 6:30 am. Has this changed recently? We will not have a car, so if the buses are not an option, we will need a taxi.
Yes, the buses start running at 6:30 every morning. For some reason, the phone CMs don't seem to get this info, and are always telling guests that the buses start running an hour prior to park opening...drives me nutty!!!
So, be out at the MK bus stop by 6:15. That way you will be sure to get the first one. If you are standing there, at 6:45, you may want to get a cab. But if you're on the bus by 6:45, you should be fine.

We are going to Disney in two weeks and I have a couple transportation questions.

1. We will be on DHS during the day and then going to The Contemporary for dinner at 6:55 pm. What is the best route to go and how early should we leave DHS?

2. We have ADR at Boma and will most likely be traveling from either our resort (POR) or MK. What is the best route for either of those?

Thanks so much!

From DHS to CR be out the exit by 6:00 pm and take the CR bus.

To get to AKL from MK simply take the bus to AKL and get off at the Jambo stop, from POR it's a little more involved, if AK is still open take bus there and them transfer to AKL bus, if AK is not open at that time take bus to Epcot or DHS and from there get a bus to AKL.

Or you could take a taxi from POR to AKL at a cost of approx $17-$19 plus tip, and about 15-20 minutes, by bus allow 60-90 minutes.

Getting back to POR might be a little more of pain if all the parks are closed, if so you may have to go via DTD by bus or taxi.

Hi there,

Some girlfriends and I are going to be at WDW in a couple of days and I have a few questions about transportation. While I've been to WDW several times, I've almost always used my own own car so I'm newish to WDW Transportation.

Monday, our crew will be at MK. We need to get to Boma at AKL for a 5PM reservation. What's the best way to get there quickly and how early should we be leaving MK? Also, we're planning on returning to MK after dinner. If the route back would be different, we need to know that as well. If we took a taxi, does anyone have any idea how much that would run us?

At the end of our MK day, we'll be headed back to CBR. Bus from the TTC? Or is there a better way?

We're spending the next few days at EPCOT for the F&W Festival. Is the trip from CBR to Epcot walkable and/or how much would a taxi cost? Can taxi's carry 4 people + driver? There is also a bus from CBR to Epcot, right?

Wednesday we have a 2:20 PM reservation at the Grand Floridian. Sorry about the lack of acronyms, I'm not sure of all of them. Best way to get there from Epcot and back?

I apologize for being so long winded. I would greatly appreciate any advice you all could give. Thanks for the help!!!

The best way is to take the bus from MK to AKL. I would leave MK about 4:00. After dinner, you just take the bus from AK back to MK. If you took a taxi (I wouldn't) it would be about $30 each way.

There are no resort buses from the TTC, you will take a bus directly from MK.

You can walk it, but it looks like it's a fairly long walk - at least a mile, probably closer to 2. I would just take the bus. A cab would be about $10.

From Epcot, take the monorail to the TTC and then switch to the resort monorail and take it to the GF. Just reverse it for the trip back.

Alesia,

Thank You so much! Your directions are crystal clear. I really appreciate the time you took to answer all my questions.

Gratefully,

Hi All! Brand new to this web site and planning a trip in March. As I read through all your helpful travel hints, I see an abbreviation for TCC frequently. I looked on the DISboards abbreviation list and don't see it (I see TTC which is transportation and ticket center). Please tell me what TCC is! I am frustrated because it comes up a lot! Thanks!

I have never seen TCC, but my best guess is that they mean TTC. If you could tell where you saw it and we could see it in context, maybe someone can tell you for sure.

I'm thinking the best way is to take the bus to EPCOT and walk through?
Anyone know how much a cab from Animal Kingdom Villas to BW would be?

Thanks,

Thanks,

I wouldn't enter Epcot just to walk all the way back to International Gateway, especially since you'd have to use up a park entry to do so. Instead, I would take the bus to DHS and walk or take the boat to BWV.

Tried searching for this but wasn't having luck... Sorry if it's a repeat question! Wondering the best way to go, and suggested time to leave for an 8:05am CRT res... Leaving from All Star Music, and we'll have 1 too many adults to drive our own car. (3 adults) Also, we'll have a 2 & 5 y/o, so I don't know if its possible to request a taxi large enough for 5 with car seats? Just not sure if a bus wouldd be our best bet! Thanks in advance!

You could get a taxi, but I'm not sure you could get one with 2 car seats. To be honest, I wouldn't put my kid in a car seat from the cab company unless it was an absolute emergency. There's no guarantee that it will be clean or even safe.

I would just take the bus. Be at the bus stop at 7:00.

My vacation is going to be from 3/2/12 to 3/11/12 our time will include WDW and three days in Harry Potter/Universal.

1. I know ME will get me from MCO airport to the POP but not to or from Universal. A) How can I get from POP to Universal? (I have read several times that Mears shuttle is a nightmare) B) How can I get from Universal back to MCO airport? Is the cost of a taxi prohibitive?

2. My almost 9 y.o. uses a booster seat. Do cabs in Orlando have them? Or do I have to call to arrange for one ahead of time? Or do they not have them at all? I would rather take a taxi in some instances than waiting 2 1/2 hours to go 15 miles on a Mears shuttle.

3. Our first night in WDW, we want to go to Planet Hollywood for dinner. Is there a POP shuttle that will take us to DTD? Is there a return POP shuttle? I seem to recall that there is one but it will return one hour after parks close. Where will we be able to get on it in DTD? Will there be time to go to dinner and do some shopping and still get the return shuttle? Should I take a taxi?

4. What is the most efficient way to get from POP to the Hoop Dee Doo?

We took a taxi last month from BLT to Universal. If I remember correctly, it was around $40 each way. But we have a 1-year-old and it was so much more convenient to not have to wait for a shuttle. Split between 3 adults, it wasn't that bad.

We took our own car seat to Universal. They can store it for you at the Lost and Found. The driver on the return trip thanked us for having it. He said it always makes him nervous to have children in the taxi without one.

Hope this helps, and have a great time!

1. A.The Mears shuttle that runs between Disney and US/IoA will not allow you to bring luggage with you...so that's out. Your best bet will be either a cab or a car service. Cost is probably about $60, plus tip, one way.
B. Again, either a cab or a car service. Not sure of the cost...should be about $60ish as well.

2. In all reality, I would use a car service. You can tell them what time you want to be picked up and that you need a booster seat. Much easier than getting a cab.

3. A bus will run between Pop and DTD from early morning until later in the night. You will have no issue getting to, or from, DTD. Planet Hollywood is going to be the Pleasure Island stop, the second stop. The first stop is the Marketplace. It is a hike to Planet Hollywood from the Marketplace bus stop.

4. Depends on which show you are going to. If MK is open, you can take the bus to MK and then the boat over to FtW..it drops you off right at the base of the path that leads to Pioneer Hall (HDDR). If MK is still open when the show gets out, you can boat back to MK and then bus to Pop. If MK is closed, there will be buses at FtW, in the Pioneer Hall area, that will take you back to your resort. The bus will not be direct, but will make several stops along the way...it will include several different resorts.

Hello!

We are staying at AKL and want to see the Christmas decorations at some of the resorts. Please help me with the best way to do this. We will have a rental car but would like to maybe hop on the monorail to do some of this.

Have an ADR at 7:45pm at 1900 Park Fare so Grand Floridian would probably be the last stop. I would also like to see Beach Club and Boardwalk and any others you would recommend stopping at.

Thanks for your input!

I know from a question I asked awhile back that the best way to get to DTD from AK is to take SSR bus and then walk.

I am now wondering if I could take a bus to POFQ and take a boat to DTD? We are not staying at POFQ but I would like to look around the resort and I think the boat ride would be fun. Would this take alot of extra time?

We have a dinner reservation for 7:15 on a Friday night at Raglan Rd. How long do you think I should budget for time for both options?

Thanks!

You can definitely do that. I would allow 90 minutes for either route, but more time if you want to look around.
