Peter is definitely an empath. They kind of foreshadowed it when they set the character up initially when he was talking about nursing.

The QB stripped Claire and dumped her body in the water and they fished her out. I guess they brought her straight to the ME office but I still don't get why they didn't remove the branch before they cut into her. One would think she wouldn't be laying properly being impaled by the branch and all. The father being all over the place is starting to irritate me. I wish they would throw us some sort of bone as to how he is all over the place and knows all of this stuff.

Looks like Niki really isn't a Jekyll/Hyde or Hulk character and it's more like her id taking over. I still think it's weird how rational the violent aspect of her is but I guess they have to make it like that to explain things better.

Can you watch previous episodes? I have watched the last 2, so how many have I missed?

So do we know who Skylar is? Skylar is supposed to be the serial killer that the police are tracking.
Is Skylar the guy that is with the cheerleader dad? Do we know who this is?

When Niki went back to Nathan's room, while I assume she was in her "Hyde" state. Then when she took off her shirt, she had the same tattoo on her back that the guy from the bar had. And then when they later showed Niki and Nathan asleep in bed, they showed a quick shot of her back, but I did not see the tattoo there. Does this have any meaning?

We are hooked on this show, but it is a little annoying at times. The writing and directing are uneven. Characters change motivation in the middle of the show (Mohinder), and actors that have been great on other shows aren't so good on this one (just about everyone). I hope those things get better. That said, we are caught up in the story. And Hiro's story line is pretty near perfect. So we'll keep watching.

Pure speculation on my part about the direction this show will take, and Peter's role, highlight if you want to read:

I think they are showing us the early stories of all the heroes. They are ordinary people with weaknesses, and we will watch to see which ones will go with the side of good, and which ones will be evil. They all have both sides in their characters now, except saintly Peter. And Hiro seems to have decided too, after dabbling in cheating. Sylar seems to be a superbeing that absorbs other's powers by eating their brains, so he is targeting other superbeings. Makes me wonder about the little girl whose parents were killed, Sylar still wants her. They didn't really show him when he was battling the police officer and FBI agent, so he might not be the black guy that was with the Dad. Time will tell. Anyway, Peter is the key, I think. If it leads up to an ultimate battle, Peter will have the Heroes with him. And he will be able to absorb their powers as well as all of Sylar's powers. He would be the only one who could defeat Sylar. How the nuclear destruction of New York and FutureHiro play into this, I have no guesses yet.

Mystery Machine, they havn't really told us who Skylar is. Could be Mr. Bennett (I think that'd be Claire's dads name), could be creepy bald guy, could be someone else entirely.

I'm assuming the QB stripped her. When the autopsy notes were being dictated it mentioned Jane Doe found naked in the river (or creek) and something about drag marks and some wounds that were post mortem and it appeared to be an accidental homicide.

The medical examiner was doing the autopsy saying the body was found naked dumped in the water. Said it may have been an accident.

ETA: Wait a minute...I just realised...Future Hiro...he'd obviously been around long enough to learn to speak English fluently and without an accent. Yet he hadn't aged ? Or didn't look like he had...

I find that Asian people don't look as old as they are. My BIL's fiance is from China and I never would have guessed that she is in her upper 30s, she looks at least 10 years younger.

ETA: Wait a minute...I just realised...Future Hiro...he'd obviously been around long enough to learn to speak English fluently and without an accent. Yet he hadn't aged ? Or didn't look like he had...

Don't forget, earlier in the show, his friend told him he would teach him how to say something phoenetically in English when he was to call the herion addict/artist.

Perhaps he was taught how to say that phrase "phoenetically in English" and hadn't actually learned to speak English.

Just a thought.

My guess is that "the dad" has been studying how to "kill" the cheerleader and when she was out with the QB & raped somehow he intervened to attempt to "kill" her.
(this whole thing is really creepy, frankly)

I think the dad of the cheerleader knows how to stop the her, which is why the message "save the cheerleader, save the world" was on the screen.

OR....

The dad knows who Sylar is and wants to help her.

Not that I'm sure, but it still looks to me like half a DNA strand, highlighting specific things/areas.

I wonder if Peter's scar will look like this....
